For Dual-Sport owners… Two key setup items that are apparent in the video but not discussed. 1. Use a shorty clutch lever that will clear your ring and pinky fingers at full pull and requires only the use of the middle finger. 2. “High bend” handle bars set on or a little ahead of the steering stem axis. Provides more physical clearance for the rider pocket when the front tire is aloft, and better leverage at the balance point.

The static wheelie breaks the barrier. I have been struggling with wheelies, pivot turns and the like. Just go for it is the best advice. If a 13 year old can do it at 75 I should be more than capable. Thanks again for the great advice.

Awesome video. I recently broke my arm whiskey throttling over a tractor tire after making it over the first row of tires. The first row bucked me off balance because I had no idea what I was doing. Who has some throttle control tips? How do you move you body forward and backward while standing up without twisting that throttle on accident??

Great tutorial. Chris Birch really breaks down the clutch up wheelie technique. Instructs new riders to ride around in 2nd just compressing the suspension to get used to the feeling of it. Then sit down and get used to snapping the clutch. Then put them together to lift the front while standing. None of this is meant to take away from the great work Rich and IRC are doing. Only to further break down a single drill Rich describes while giving credit to where I learned it. Rich takes it to another level with additional drills to apply the newly learned skill.

I wish youtube was so developed when I was riding. I really could have used many of the tutorials. In case anyone watching is young and impatient as I was when riding, take time, slow down, and give focus time to each individual skill. Took me way to long in life to learn the importance of fine tuning the nuances of whatever I am doing. Stay safe and have fun everyone!

Funny thing I noticed that a lot of this video was filmed at the top of Butterfield Canyon in SLC. One of my favorite places to hike and planned to go up there on one of my first rides

Enduro & Trials Israel is damn right. I'm a noob trying to see how far I can push a KLX250 EFI , so I got a weak, heavy pig of a bike. I can't get a 2T enduro bike at this point. I've watched enduro pros, tried their tips and could never lift the front wheel (usually without success) without exhausting myself fast. Today I managed to do that with little sweat thanks to your exercise around 4:20: loading the flywheel, compress suspension, quick release to friction point, wow! And all that from a static position, no momentum! Thanks a million! This is the door that will finally allow me access to lots of other techniques. You are my hero!

Good riding skill exercises even for street only riders. Many don't know how to control their bikes on a steep incline paved road. They spend their riding time going straight and turning right or left onto the next next road only to go straight down the road once again.

Years ago, this is how I taught both of my boys how to use the clutch. With NO throttle and a slight incline, I would have them keep both feet on the ground and to use the clutch (without stalling) walk about 10 feet forward. Then let it roll back to a curb we had that was the initial stop. Also thought them the same thing when they got old enough to drive! Both can now drive anything.

The slo-mo and simultaneous clutch angle cam are incredibly helpful! As a new rider, I've been trying to figure how to get this timing down but struggling to figure out when to drop the clutch relative to compressing the suspension.

Love that second drill i think that drill will pay most dividends in real life trail riding/enduro!iam a beginner an that will definitely be my go to drill!

Are you actually pulling on the bars at all when you pop your front wheel up? Or relying 100 percent on suspension and clutch to get up?

You are very helpful and I cant believe the stuff you do on a bike, I was out today practicing the middle finger clutch technique doing the front tire lift. It felt like I couldn't hold on to the bike without all 5 fingers on the grip, I practiced the slight throttle raise and the clutch drop seated just to get used to the feeling. When you do it standing are you holding on to the bikes with your legs or does your left hand grip just get better with time and practice?
