Regarded as one of the greatest Science Fiction writers of all times, Frank Herbert's Irish heritage made infrequent but impactful appearances in his works, including Dune. But it is in his lesser know novel The White Plague that he fully delves into feelings about Ireland and the Irish people and it makes for some torturous reading...

Yah, I wasn't expecting Dune level insights into the Irish condition from The White Plague it's like it was written by someone who wanted to be Frank Herbert without ever having read Frank Herbert.

I was wondering about that. The first one is good but it took him 6 years to write, I meant to make that point in contrast to the 6 months it took to write The White Plague. But even after the first book everything gets weird and it's clear Herbert is high on the smell of his own spice blows.

I played the demo of it, not sure if I'll pick it up right away but looking forward to seeing what some of the higher level building are, like what a large town will look like
