Looks like this is a common thing for HOI4 mods, it's been hit with a DMCA takedown notice on Steam! There's no grounds for it but Steam has to take the mod down for about 10 days. It's still available on through "Paradox mods" and should be back up on Steam again soon, I was lucky to download it before the strike.

This is just my theory, but the game will start in 2200 and you have about 20 years to build up your economy and fleet before a time distortion opens up and transports all the alien races back to the earth of 1337 to fight and ally with the people of that time. That or it's EU5.

I can see why Paradox would want to differentiate between "monarchy" and "whatever the Irish are" but I also can't think of a good reason why the Irish shouldn't be monarchy, that's a great point!

@@ManiacalInc Thanks. I deserve that. But I see comments like Atlantic Archipelago, but the British Isles are not an archipelago. I see people use Great Britain and Ireland, but that excludes Mann, Jersey, Wite and Shetlands and Hebernies

In Ireland we don't really see the need of a collective term, the only place it pops up is in weird r/mapporn threads. If a term is absolutely needed for some reason we tend to go with "British and Irish Isles" but there is so little need that we don't really have a consensus.

@@ManiacalInc I know you said you haven't been keeping up to date fully with other Project Caesar dev diaries, but have you seen the stuff on Situations and International Organisations? I wonder if you could have a Situation that brings the Irish under an International Organisation in a war with England where, if they lose, it leads to the Flight of the Earls, or something like that. (If that's at all accurate-my own knowledge of our history isn't great, that's why I come to you!) Apologies if you mention this somewhere in the video, I haven't watched all of it.

I've seen that the High Kingship is going to be treated as an International Organisation (I think) so I'm looking forward to seeing how that works. Maybe something like the Flight of the Earls could be achieved as part of a push to "Anglicize" Ireland, so that other Catholic powers in Europe could gain the ability to recruit "Irish Brigades" if Ireland falls under English control. I'm not really sure what that would look like but the fact that the Pale is a Dominion of England means the devs are thinking about how to make Ireland interesting with England just blobing out and conquering it rapidly

@@ManiacalInc no! I didn't, first time seeing it. 1337 is the year I like to watch the rise of Desmond Fitzgerald. Going from 100 years war commander to rebel, to pushing to be Irish king to take control of Ireland with Kildare and the Parliament. Him and his sons are funny characters.

The High Kingship is going to be represented in some way so I'm looking forward to seeing how that will be interpreted in this time period and how the Pale being a Dominion of England will impact gameplay. I don't think there is a planned release date as yet (technically we don't even know the name of the game, but it's EU5) but the 1178 start date will be added to CK3 in a few months time.

I just checked out that video, it was very good. I think Wikipedia was definitely used for CK2 but in a few places it is more accurate than the game, like the list of the Kings of Meath which is copied from "Irish Kings and High Kings" which is copied incorrectly into CK2 and 3. The game also has Gormflaith as the mother of the sons of Máelsechnaill mac Domnaill which has long been disproven and doesn't feature on either IKHK or Wikipedia so that comes from some other "source". I'm glad to see that it's not just Ireland that's the victim of bad historical sourcing!

IRL the Democratic Unionist Party are a hardline Unionist party strongly opposed to any but the most limited concessions to the Nationalist community and they refused to endorse the Good Friday Agreement. IRL the Ulster Democratic Party was a small party linked to the loyalist paramilitary UDA, in Kaiserreich they replace and include many members of the Ulster Unionist Party which IRL governed Northern Ireland from the 1920's until the Direct Rule from Westminster was introduced in '72. In Kaiserreich they have joined with the rest of Ireland as the lesser of two evils after the fall of Britain to syndicalism and mainly want to preserve an independent Unionist identity and Unionist control of the former Northern Ireland. Collin's Sinn Féin and Lemass's NDP can work with them while generally the parties of De Valera, O'Duffy and Ó Cuinneagáin oppose them.

Yah, I'm thinking that's the best policy. Depending on what is included in them I might just totally be finished with ck3 DLC

Thanks, I didn't realise you could appoint Field Marshals to Volunteers, that's my lack of HOI4 experience showing. I haven't checked the subreddit in a while, is there still an unknown/undiscovered outcome if you can satisfy both Nationalist and Unionists when Black Monday occurs or has everything been discovered?

​@@ManiacalInc ah sure its been out two months now so I'll tell ye. If you deal with the opening Black Monday situation perfectly by satisfying both groups, manage to re-elect Collins in the 37 elections, milk the best bonuses out of Germany and Britain in the Gateway to the Atlantic while also remaining independent, there is a secret outcome. If you manage all of the previous stuff, and Ireland joins the Weltkrieg directly, then Collins gets the option to form a wartime coalition with de Valera's party and the UDP. Dev is made second-in-command, Basil Brooke is made an unremovable advisor, and Mulcahy is made Chief of Army if he isn't already. Oh and Collins' leader picture turns into one of him in uniform which is fairly class. You should check out the updated foreign policy focuses at some stage if you get the chance, it was updated in the hotfix and there are a few more things in it.

Ah yeah, if you manage to perfectly resolve Black Monday at the beginning minigame, and if Collins wins the election, and Ireland stays independent in the Gateway to the Atlantic while also milking the best bonuses from the Brits and Germans, there is a hidden outcome. If you directly join the world war after all this happened, and Collins is the leader, then he can form a Wartime Coalition with de Valera and the UDP directly. Dev becomes a second in command, Brooke becomes an unremovable advisor, and Mulcahy is made head of army if he isn't already. And most importantly, Collins gets a sick new leader portrait in uniform!

I wouldn't detect an accent in the people who live near me but there would be some Irish accents I'd have trouble with. There is a famous video of an Irish sheep farmer with a very strong accent, it went viral because no one could understand what he was saying... I could understand him perfectly! Google "Irish sheep farmer accent" and you'll find it
