Sinn Féin won the popular vote in Ireland’s recent elections shaking up a two party system that has been dominated by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael for decades. The success was described as a youthquake but was that really the case? We meet some of the activists, politicians and voters to ask them what the result says about Ireland? And what are their hopes for a government as coalition talks continue?

Totally agree. My vote is not tied to one party. But it is well past time for this country to try something different. What we have is slowly failing. I genuinely don't care who makes things better.

Increase tax revenue by letting Irish diaspora and descendants come back and live in rural areas on working citizenships under the agreement that they do not move into the city. Would create community hubs throughout the country and grow smaller cities.

Brian Stanley, Sinn Féin TD and the chairman of the Dáil’s public accounts committee PAC tweeted that the Kilmichael Ambush in 1920 which killed 17 members of the Royal Irish Constabulary’s Auxiliary Division, and the Narrow Water Ambush in 1979 which killed 18 British soldiers, taught the British army the cost of occupying Ireland. Pity for everyone they were such slow learners.

It goes like this, the economy is growing, people are wealthy, but housing and homelessness, and waiting times at hospitals are the new top priorities, if the economy stops growing after Sinn Féin enacts its policies, then they will be voted out, if not, then they will probably have a very long time in power!

Sin Féin have a young and liberal voting base despite not having any green energy policy, and being Eurosceptics, two things that are VERY unpopular in Ireland. How people reconcile these factors, I have no idea. The mental gymnastics involved is baffling
