It comes down to the goals of these players. If you desire to win a championship and go to WNBA, the best choices are South Carolina and UCONN. These two are guaranteed Final Four teams almost every year and receive the most national TV exposure.

I"m just hoping that UCONN can acquire Raegan Beers bc there is a definite need for a true center while Janna El Alfyde recovers and works her way back from Achilles surgery. On coach Van Derveer I think she was already contemplating retirement plus having to head East to play in the ACC. From a UCONN perspective Raegan Beers is player #1 from the transfer portal.

I can't get a day without some teams best player leaving to the portal and it's driving me crazy lol. I feel like Notre Dame has to get a reliable 5 position. I feel like a place that is good for Gardner could be Iowa State but that might just be me.

I really do believe Beers would be a perfect fit at UConn. If Sarah Strong is as advertised- they would be a scary team. I would love to see Iriafen go to a team like ND, USC or even UCLA. I feel like she could really thrive in those situations being a stretch 4 and spacing the floor for those teams. With Gardner, I have no idea what she is looking for but if she landed at a school like NC State- that would be amazing for that team. Especially with her shooting ability, paired with Aziah James would open up the lane for Rivers to attack the basket. I just want chaos when it comes to the tournament next year and that's without mentioning teams like LSU and Texas who will be very good as well. lol

To me the number one priority is a big physical post players like Beers, Iriafen, and Gardiner would nicely fill that void. However, as many guards as we have, we really don’t know how accessible they will be. Will they have fully recovered from their injuries and rounded into playing shape by November? Maybe, but perhaps we should take out an insurance policy. K. Chen would make for a nice guard rotation allowing them to get back to playing shape safer and have a bench depth equal to the likes of SC.

I think the dissolution of the PAC 12 and Stanford going to the ACC played a role. That's why Oregon State has had a mass exodus of players. They're going to an irrelevant (in the larger WBB picture) conference in the WCC.
@mimibasu7712Ай бұрын
Kiki is a smarty pants and is graduating in a few weeks, graduating photo shoot even happened yesterday. If she can get into the right school for her and get a shot at a Final 4, why not? And I think Tara retired for two reasons: she doesn’t like fanfare and knows that Geno (not her favorite person) will pass her in wins next season because she will not have a strong team. It’s better step aside on top because records will be broken and it’s unlikely the next winningest coach in history record will be broken after Geno. The second reason is her team underperformed last year and was not that great this year, except for Cam and Kiki. I’m a fan and I saw it and can admit it.
@dominictramonte2687Ай бұрын
I agree with most of what you say. Pity about Oregon, and the Pac-12, but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Iriafen... No for Uconn. She doesn't fit into the mold. Uconn is probably not a strong enough school for her academically (not that they're bad, per se, but they're also not in Stanford's mold.) I doubt Geno would even talk to her, even if he could. Gardiner is a maybe. She seems to be a left coast girl anyway. She's also the weakest of the three players (again, not that she's bad; there's many a coach, including Geno, who wishes he had somebody like that.) But Beers, now... That's interesting from a Uconn standpoint. She's good and she knows it, but she doesn't shout about it. She's a team player. She's a little short, but so is Uconn except Jana. It would give time for the duo of El Alfy and Strong time to mature with less pressure on them to produce. If we could get her, I say go ahead.

No one knows what factors drove Vanderveer’s decision to retire. However, it is reasonable to believe that if she had prior knowledge of Iriafen’s intent it became a component of her decision. Losing Betts to the portal the year before, the the graduation of Brink…it was in her near memory.

IRIAFEN AND BETTS ARE GOOD FRIENDS SO I THINK IT UCLA ARE USC
@back2sports988Ай бұрын
If she goes UCLA then video is wrong as UCLA is greedy - how many big do they need? Betts, Duglic, Sontag , ewula, emiley bessoiur & S Betts coming to UCLA in 2025-26 - should be named giants not bruins

@@back2sports988 😂🤣😂🤣 of course all the athletes at stanford are there bc they take their academics very seriously. usc would seem to be a good fit for iriafen. its a great school (i even read something about some parents going to jail to get their kids accepted! 😂🤣) and i think she's actually from LA. so wouldnt be surprised if she stays on the west coast to join forces with juju.

Maybe Kiki is leaving because Tara is leaving not the other way around.
@user-pt9wq9zz3uАй бұрын
No; Tara probably knew this time last year that she was retiring! Come on guys you know better
@back2sports988Ай бұрын
better to retire after tournament loss then go to ACC with weak team and get had handed to you. Smart decision.

Tare left because she didn’t wont to travel.

Ahhh…maybe they are leaving for more NIL money????

Stanford and Oregon, Oregon state are destroyed as far as conference play goes 4 o 5 hrs fleet time for every game lot of platers won't do that.

The girls going transfer portal because of this and it’s simple. They are looking for the ring, both types the championship ring and the marriage ring, notice the woman not getting married anymore?
@johnclarke763Ай бұрын
Ok Beers will go to LSU and Kiki will go to UConn . Kiki and UConn players are messaging each other a lot on twitter . Beers is a Trump lady like Mulkey

🎉No she wanted to retire
@jeromedanielson4422Ай бұрын
Ring chasers, if one is a great player WNBA scouts will know about you. you could be playing in East Bumble Corn, all this stuff is driven by agents, trying to make a buck off these kid's talents. The game has changed with NIL, and the transfer portal, but the puppeteers haven't.

UCONN IS NOT SAFE to play there too many players get hurt
@back2sports988Ай бұрын
Yea don't agree with this. Fudd had acl injury prior to UConn, same with griffen, same with Decharme (shoulder & ACL) , Dorka broke her arm, & some of it is honestly just bad luck. ACL injuries happen - too often in womens basketball.

Yeah maybe it’s the ghost of Pat Summit? Or the thin Storrs air?
@eliharris6349Ай бұрын
STOP SAYING SC has enough. You’ve seen what injuries can do with UConn.. The Only player that Fits with South Carolina is actually KiKi iriafen . She would be the Advantage.!! She Runs the floor a lot better than those other 2 Bigs Beer & Gardener.. Kiki iriafen needs to go to SC Gamecocks
@back2sports988Ай бұрын
It is a compliment. I think I even forgot to mention Joyce Edwards. Stacked
@ReadR00ster1Ай бұрын
Kiki plays a position SC is areadly super strong in. If we do get her we definitely would have to tell Sakima Walker to hit the road. The only spot we really have is for a wing. Which could be Gardiner. She shoots the ball well from out side, rebounds well, plays good defense and sets good screens which SC could use more of. The other 2 are better overall players, but Gardiner is the best fit for SC.
@eliharris6349Ай бұрын
@@ReadR00ster1 nothing you said make sense. Gardiner & Kiki play the same exact positions “except Kiki can Really Run the floor” .. SC runs & plays too Fast for Gardiner .. That’s what got them killed against SC in the NCAA tournament. She is waaaaay too slow. Kiki only makes sense or none of them. Because Adele Tec is 6’6 who Block shots and moves faster than Beer & Gardiner.. That would be a waste altogether.

LSU could use a stud 5 because Del Rosario is awful
@williamwellis4044Ай бұрын
Del Rosario did very well as a rookie and will be dominant this year; Kiki would make them championship contenders.
