At 96, Iris Apfel is a living fashion legend and a national treasure.
A world-renowned authority on antique textiles and the founder of the international textile-manufacturing company Old World Weavers, she’s even more famous for her extravagant, eclectic personal style. The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute presented Rara Avis, a blockbuster exhibition of her clothing and accessories, in 2005, and acclaimed documentarian Albert Maysles made her the subject of his award-winning film Iris in 2014. Her new memoir is Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon. Hear from this singular personality and visionary when she sits down for a career-spanning conversation with New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis.

The woman is in her 90’s and she is still moved by fashion, while other old people are in nursing homes full of apathy and sadness!

Actually, Apfel has never been "moved by fashion." If you pay attention to any of her interviews, it is a matter of being true to your individual style. Also, as you degrade "old people in nursing homes full of apathy and sadness," Apfel would probably spit in your eye for making this disparaging remark. Apfel is clear that although she has always worked very hard, much just came to her. I think it safe to say she has lived a "charmed" life. Why do you think people in nursing homes - and you have not checked out nursing homes lately - at least not the ones where people are not poor - are sometimes full of apathy and sadness? Bring in a beautiful fabric and listen to the stories that are evoked. Apfel has had people paying attention to her all her life. And, she has been lucky in the health necessary to do what she does.

True but at the same time it’s a sad thing if you at your 90’s stil worshipping materialistic things . Enjoy everything but don’t bring it that for you forget the real reason why we are on this earth. Doing good deeds and worshipping our creator god and nothing or no one Else than him.
