IRIS pairs legendary 87-year-old documentarian Albert Maysles with Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades. More than a fashion film, the documentary is a story about creativity and how, even in Iris' dotage, a soaring free spirit continues to inspire. IRIS portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, art and people are life's sustenance and reminds us that dressing, and indeed life, is nothing but an experiment. Despite the abundance of glamour in her current life, she continues to embrace the values and work ethic established during a middle-class Queens upbringing during the Great Depression. "I feel lucky to be working. If you're lucky enough to do something you love, everything else follows."

This film doesn't lecture. It just lets you into the lives of this really great couple. Their lives are so different from what I do that I just had fun being with them for a while.

Me too. I’m married and my life is 180 degrees from hers. However, it was so enjoyable “hanging” with her and her delightful hubby, I watched it twice! What a great couple.

What a fantastic couple. Both Carl and iris Apfel are certainly inspiring. Something interesting is that I've watched every single fashion movie / documentary available, and I must say that IrisApfel and Bill Cunningham's documentaries are the most inspiring, stylish and fabulous ones I''ve been exposed to. Fascinated.

+Elisabeth Falck Glad you like it. These are my favorite two fashion documentaries, you've seen the best already haha. If you are into fashion, I would also recommend The September Issue, Dior and I and The Editor's Eye. They're all great documentaries, not as touching as Ms. Apfel and Mr. Cunningham's ones I must say, but definitely worth to watch! Cheers.

I totally adore Iris,who @ 93-years-young is still going strong, designing jewelry, shoes, brooches, bracelets, rings that are fun to wear. She never misses anything when she is doing a show on HSN. The glasses she wears makes her look a bit like an owl and even designs jewelry and pocketbooks that look like owls ~ so cute and always full of whimsy!! She makes me feel so good about aging; I plan to live to be in excellent health 'til I am 100+. I am looking forward to seeing the documentary about her!! She truly is a "beautiful" woman#!!! Tune in to HSN on 3/25 & 26 to see her; guaranteed you will fall in love!

I had never seen or heard of her until I saw her in the target commercial and I was wondering who she was so I googled to find her. I started watching her movie today It's really good. If you're into fashion you will enjoy it.

The lady that said "...she was never going to be pretty (but that she had style)..." was lying. Iris style is incomparable to anything...but she was good looking when she was young. She wasn't a model, but she was FAR from ugly or unnoticeable, she WAS physically good looking.

I don't tone mine down for anyone....wish I had just a few pieces from her collection...I would surely wear them!! She is fabulous....keep doing you...and don't change it for anyone else!

I just love her...and I would so if I could wear some of her jewelry if I could! She doesn't apologize to ANYBODY about her take on fashion! She doesn't care who doesn't like it! Create your own style...if other people don't like it...too bad and so what! I like wearing a lot of jewelry...I hope to be that 100 year old lady on a walker draped in so much jewelry...that you hear me a clanking and a clacking way before I enter the room!
