Possibly my favorite tutorial to date. I really like the outline of the petals and the idea of making back and front of a petal different colors to keep track of which is which.

I'm working on this one right now after watching the turtorial a couple of weeks ago. Note to self- rewatch the video before you try to paint it!😂 I forgot to use the magenta instead of purple, lost track of where the petals were, wet each petal first, ... it would have been easier if I had followed your instructions. I just got so excited, I wanted to get to it. I'll do better next time, I promise.

I am going to have to practice more and try again. My attempt looks so bad. But what I learned, I think I don't have enough paint on my brush at times, I need to pre mix my colors....got confused about what petal is what color along the way. And need general practice. And practice at mixing colors....especially since I am using some of the colors LMA has and some that are not. But it is a great tutorial....I am just sucking at learning today and need to break this down even more.
@LetsMakeArt
@LetsMakeArt 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nikki! We had to start off by letting you know that you do not suck at all. Painting, like anything, takes practice to build up your skill. Walk away from your painting and when you come back to it, you'll be able to appreciate it in a different light. Some lessons definitely take you outside your comfort lesson and what is easy for one person can be a struggle for another artist. We just want you to know that we so appreciate you creating along with us. We appreciate you sticking through this tutorial with us and finishing your painting. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your creative journey. We are here cheering you on and totally want to hear how your next paint session goes.❤️

Flip the picture over. Using a soft lead pencil, apply a layer of graphite using a moderately heavy hand around the edges of the drawing. Flip the picture over. Place the picture on top of your watercolor paper. Using your pencil, go around the edges of the iris. Lift up the iris, and admire your "drawing.". You're welcome.

@boopeep9670
@boopeep9670 5 жыл бұрын
Noelle Armstrong I hope you’re just joking and being silly. Lots of watercolor paints are made of toxic heavy metals and nasty harmful chemicals. It’s not a good idea to have food or beverages anywhere near your rinse water, paints or brushes. It’s best to save any eating or drinking for when you take a break and step away from your painting. It’s good practice to take a break and stretch your body and change your position every so often anyway. That’s a good time to get a drink or a little nibble. Think of all those times we’re supposed to patiently wait for an area to dry. Keeping food and drinks separate from your work area also reduces the chance of accidentally getting food or drinks on your painting or contaminating your precious paints. I agree with @Long yarn, I wouldn’t even risk it with non-toxic paint. It’s about building good habits. And we really don’t know what is in those children’s paints anyway. Or bacteria deep in your brush hairs... Happy painting!

@denaheck1506
@denaheck1506 5 жыл бұрын
Arlene Shermam. Dark wash. 1. Add water to your wash Paint on your mix plate. 2. Test it on scrap paper to see how dark. 3. Make a thinner line of paint on the edge of the flower (make sure your paper is pre-wet using a. thin line of water first). Then clean brush using wet but not dripping wet brush & smooth it out in towards the center of the flower. If your wash (paint) is to strong.......Immediately blot it with paper towel, you may want to allow paper dry & start again. Practice. Practice. Practice........its usually about the water & being quick enough. Hope this is helpful
