My brother's name is Connor, he's half Ojibwe but on our mom's side we have Irish, Norse, Welsh, English, and a tiny pinch of Russian, according to Dna tests we all took.

Turlough also means 'dry lake' - particularly a lake that is formed when ground water rises in the wet seasons (very unique to the west of Ireland)

Love this . I LOL’d at Justin . I’m learning (slowly) Irish on Duolingo )an app - I just got my DNA done and I’m NINETY FIVE PERCENT British, Irish & Scottish . I knew my parents were from UK but I didn’t know NINETY FIVE percent of me was !! Makes sense tho . You should see my teeth (British) and I’ve been Celtic pagan / witch leaning forever . So I’m embracing my roots now . Kids are grown and I’m planning to come out and investigate “home” next year . I have no living relatives here in 🇨🇦 except my two kids but know my cousins in England - very excited to visit Ireland (my dads side ) and also Scotland as my mums brother lived in Wick until he died last year . Videos like this feel like Home funny enough Thank you for this ! I got pretty close on about 1/2 from what I’ve learned so far , got a few right and totally missed a lot lol My fave is how bh somehow makes a v sound

Congrats on the pregnancy! I have a question for you if you don't mind. I'm half Irish through my dad (his mom was from Co. Galway and his dad from Swords, Co. Dublin) but I have never learned any Irish, and nor has he. I really want to get to a good level so I can speak to my nan in Irish rather than English, but I don't know any quick, easy ways of doing so. Any tips? I watched your videos on common words which were helpful but I wanted to go a bit more advanced. I can definitely say I grew up with a lot of Irish customs though! Saying no a million times before you say yes, saying so many byes you just have to walk out eventually, and more.

Your videos are really well explained, and I love the little bit of history behind the names. With the Labhraidh, I thought bh was pronounced as v, but it's a w. Does it depend on what letters are before or after it? Maybe you could do a video about the Irish alphabet and the different sounds letters make together x

"Bring 🇨🇦 Troops Home! @GordBolton ·Jun 18, 2022 Replying to @DagnyTaggart369 I was curious about that name (Taggart) for a long time. We had some neighbors with that name out on the prairies when I was a child." Greetings Wolfe Momma & congratulations! The name of the neighbour was McTaggart. I am one of those stupid people who look for meaning in things including names. I asked what the name meant & no-one could tell me. Much much later I learned that the literal translation of McTaggart was son of a priest (druid) or even better son of one who honours the bards! Even more interesting is the ancient Tagar culture in the Valley of the Kings near the Altai Mountains who were very much into beautiful Scythian art 1000s of years ago. According to the Decimali Channel the population of Wales, Ireland, Scotland & some Baltic countries have high percentages of the Tagar DNA! I explored the theory that much, most maybe all the fair skinned blond haired population of Europe rode in on horseback from Central & Eastern Asia. An Iranian contemporary of Genghis Khan described him as a large man with red hair & green eyes -- maybe a cousin of the Eric the Red?
