The craziest thing is that the state of California is shit. I live in NYC. The state od California where los angeles and all those mansions are located is $1.3 trillion in debt.

In my clubbing days more than a decade ago I wouldn't even think of doing that, but I did! witness a friend's friend's girlfriend do it because the bathroom was so packed at the club.. disgusting, and never saw her again after that night, or the friend's friend (I had standards for drug use aha)(I mean I still do haha just don't need them anymore nowadays as I'm in my elderly stage of life now, or at least I wake up every day hoping I am, so my hobbies will finally coincide with my true self aha)

My day is made with the return of Jayde. Everybody was great and funny. Living in wealthy neighborhoods is not all it seems. George Lucas wanted to expand his Skywalker ranch but his snooty neighbors blocked him at every turn for 15 years. George finally gave up and with his thumb on his nose or his hand only showing the middle finger, George decided that if they wouldn't let him build his studio he would use the land, as it was designated, for housing. Unfortunately for his neighbors George decided not to build mansions but low cost affordable housing for the poor. Maybe if they ever film his life story this installment could be titled "Revenge of the Pissed.

As a native Californian who grew up out there, two things. The houses in my neighborhood went from 180,000 in 1982 to 725,000 in 2019. What happened? The houses got older. As for the mansions, never own a mansion in the hills. The next wildfire, flood, or earthquake will send them to the bottom of the hill or leave it in ashes.

I don't know, some of them are really, really nice. There's not that much bad to say about them except they're small. I find the concept of a sleeping loft with stairs highly unsafe and the wheeled ones aren't great for long term housing, but they tend to be attractive and cleverly designed. You know what's really interesting are old buses converted to living spaces.

I lived in LA for a short while. The house I paid 1200 a month rent for while having 3 roomies to make bills meet was priced at 1.25 million back then and was smaller than my present garage for parking my car.

That house is so valuable BECAUSE it's in LA. It was obviously destroyed in a fire but even if you demolish the house and build a new one, the LAND is what they are selling, for this house. And that piece of land is in LA, so more value. In Wyoming, $10,000, maybe less. It is VERY dependent on where your home is located in the USA. Even some of those $30 million homes in Cali would be several million dollars less expensive in Wyoming, or many other states.

Well, it IS one of the wealthiest counties in the nation and alcohol can be very expensive. Seems like the perfect drug of choice for those with unlimited disposable income. I didn't grow up in a Marin mansion, but I did go to some fun parties!

@@Price924 I was thinking more from the point of view of money not always buying happiness . Apologies if I came off as sarcastic . I'm from the UK and I went to a college that included a lot of kids who'd been to the local private school . Lots of money but also a high rate of alcohol and substance misuse and frankly a very limited amount of parental emotional support for quite a lot of them 😟

The worst house my family lived in they bought in 1973 is now the most valuable house they ever owned because the local university grew out to very close to it. Pretty sure my folks paid less than 50k but now it’s worth 400k.

Good job highlighting American excess in the housing and property market. But not all of us are like that. I'm about to build my own very tiny house. It should cost around $15,000 to build and completely furnish, and it will be about 450 square feet.

@@TheNomadicSunny I'm starting with a prefabricated shed. They make a lot of those with a front porch that looks sort of like a small cabin. Then just do the plumbing and wiring and finish the inside.

That's legal? Most places in the US require a minimum of 700 square feet. It's why most tiny house videos on KZfaq are filmed in other countries. And yeah, I'd like to see their reactions because most tiny houses are crazy expensive builds.

I've been watching you guys for a while and really enjoy your reactions to things here in the U.S. Growing up in what is now called Silicon Valley, for the most part, the housing market has become outrageous. The house I grew up in my parents bought for $17K in 1959 is now estimated at over $1M, unfortunately, they sold it years ago for much less. California has become the state for the rich leaving the rest to move to more affordable states.

thats a lie... if some billionaire gave you 5B to move to Cali you would be on his private jet headed there so fast. Cali does suck with its crazy SJW culture, high taxes, limited gun freedom, expensive cost of living etc, but anyone offered a ridiculous amount to live there would do so.
