It was Ireland who first brought world attention to apartheid in SA. When I was young my dad, who was in Irish army and trained Cork hurling and Gaelic football teams was offered a brilliant job in South Africa with a fabulous house with swimming pool etc. Ireland was very poor back then after 800 years of brutal occupation, genocides, war crimes, looting, pillaging, murder, theft, 2 million starved to death while brits shipped out tonnes of food to UK weekly, 2 million displaced who had to migrate on coffin ships where 30+% died, etc, etc. Back to job offer Dad was going to take the job until he went to library and looked up South Africa and learned about the apartheid. After that he refused the job. I remember Dad, long before ut became popular, protesting on his own outside Dunnes Store on Patrick Street with a homemade placard asking people not to buy SA products or produce. He took me to my first 'Free Palestine' meet when I was 11. He also told me if Israel wasnt stopped they would cause WWII. He actually said zionists were the new Nazis. He's been proven right
