About Iron Maiden:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of 44 years they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

That's an obviously over-the-top statement, but both are amazing, in particular, "The Parchment", which I hold as the best Steve penned epic since "Sign Of The Cross". The whole Oriental vibe is just mesmerizing, the instrumental section starting at 3:30 mind-blowing.

While other girls my age (i’m 23 now) listened to Beyoncé, and chart music I became a Maiden fan about 12, even them live three times and loved every song and show. This album and this song are incredible and beyond epic. Steve Harris once again has crafted a masterpiece, the riffs and Bruce’s voice are astonishing, Nico’s drumming is exceptional. As a lifelong Maiden fan, I'm gonna have to HARDLY disagree. And the only reason I'm doing this is to see if some of you see what I don't? I'd be so glad to be wrong, but there's not a single song on Senjutsu that I consider a song with good lyrics... It's so cryptic but without any meaning, or am I missing something? I don't think so, but I would really like to be proven wrong. By the way, The Parchment is absolutely a top10 maybe even, and I really cannot believe that I'll say this - maybe even a top5 Iron Maiden song anyway. I swear. A fucking masterpiece.

"To Tame A Land," and I also hear (referrering mainly to the solos in the songs) "Hallowed Be Thy Name, Powerslave, The Nomad, The Talisman, Alexander the Great, Fear of the Dark" and some obscure stuff from the first two albums that I can't seem to isolate. Maybe influences from the "Killers" guitaring. It could just be some of the guitar style and sound is being used from that period. The first two albums are my favorites, so I'm not sure why I can't lock in to what I'm hearing. But this new album is really solid, despite a few vocal issues and production flaws.

Bruce said in an interview I watched that they were so pumped about this one they were talking about making another album right then on top of senjutsu, but then they said that would be too much given they were still on the LOTB tour and what not. I doubt it would be their last album. They’ve got a couple more in them I’m sure. And If not, this would be a solid album to leave off on in my opinion. I’m sure they’ve got a plethora of unreleased music, live albums etc for when they do retire.

@@hoonaticbloggs5402 but which band has been doing so for 45+ years? Most of them rely on their original stuff but Maiden are still coming up with intrinsic, layered and highly technical material even now, when they don't really need to. I see that as the biggest difference that separates them from the others. Yes, the likes of Leppard and Metallica are still producing good stuff but not on this level of mastery. When you actually explore the lyrics and what story the song is telling, enveloped in the musical genius - there really is no one else out there who are equals to Maiden.

The way this song constantly builds up to the final lyric verse and that insane melody in the end is insane. It's really like living a 12 minute story. Does the second half make anyone emotional or is it just me? It's just so goddamn heartfelt the way Bruce delivers those lyrics and how they perfectly compliment the triumphant yet melancholy nature of the music, then you have those kickass last two minutes that feel so bloody cathartic. I'm brazilian and I had the privilege of attending to Rock in Rio concerts and other gigs in Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro. Looking forward to next year's Rock in Rio edition. I love the band ever since I reached their first song, back in my childhood days. I speak english because of their influence, I traveled to London to visit Cart and Horses iconic pub, where the band started, decades ago. I even watched a Premier League game, being a football fan (brazilian, right?), and of course it had to be a West Ham game. This song is just emotive. I love the flow, it shows how mature these guys are. There's no hurry, no need to pleasant anyone, but a natural and amazing work. I just wanna thank Steve Harris for both this song and the entire career of the best heavy metal band that ever walked on this planet. I am Iron Maiden fan since I was 13 years of age now I am 47 and still love them just as much if not more. Iron Maiden is a God gift to people that understand and enjoy the masterpieces Iron Maiden churn out. No band can compare to Iron Maiden, they are living LEGENDS which will never be forgotten even when they're long gone. Someday in future, the children will study about the greatest masters of music with Iron Maiden held in highest regards.

Some bands can make a 12 min song sound like 4 min. Some make a 4 min song sound like a life time of agony. Thank you Maiden for bringing a great album to all nations. Thank you for bringing together all Nations and Nationalities. Set aside the hate people live and learn to love Metal. You'll find that life's worth living. I'm so excited to know my Grandchildren will follow great music. BECAUSE GREAT MUSIC CAN AND WILL ALWAYS CHANGE THE WORLD.!!!! Thank you Maiden for being apart of my world for 40+ years.!!!

Probably one of the most epics moments on the entire Maiden’s carreer: 8:31 to the end: 🎶Hear the cry we are ready to belieeeeeeeeeeve The prodigal has returned Give us our own revenge With the power he learned We will burn the same again A betrayal of angels in a foreign land A revenge for the merciful destiny at hand For all those who have written In the sand will be told That the same will happen - searching for gold Like a fire in the sky I can feel strength return Heading for afterlife, meet me theeeeeeeeeere🎶

There is a lot of repetition in this song as Bruce said, but actually it is kind of mesmerising and hypnotic in places. The middle section melodies and solos are like a To Tame a Land sequel, and the ‘Meet me theeeerrrreee’ is the reunion version of ‘Ruler of the Staaaarrrs’. It’s got that darker feel detailing some ancient epic plight, probably my favourite on the album

Glad to notice that I'm not the only one to see comparisons with To Tame a Land. I also think that the lyrics are inspired by the Fremen, if you read the books. However I don't have any proof of that, and the reference to the Parthian parchment paper seems to weaken this statement.

The best song of the album. Absolutely great! The riff starting at 3:31 could have been in To Tame a Land, while the part starting at 6:44 could have come out of the Brave New World album. It has the grandiose atmosphere of the Powerslave era and from 9:21 onwards is simply magic. It brings to my mind the '' yeeeaah halloweed be thy naaame , or slaaave to the poweeer of deaaath!" moments! Amazing lyrics as well!

I'm hearing a lot of past guitar solo residue from "To Tame A Land, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Powerslave, The Nomad, The Talisman, Fear of the Dark" and a little "Alexander the Great," as well as some cues from the first two albums that I just can't home in on, possibly the style and sound from those albums is what I'm hearing. A very epic song, particularly guitar-wise and lyrically...and Bruce sounds incredible.

'Arry's hidden gem on the album. As I said, Hell on Earth is the best song because it wraps up the album nicely. The lyrics "on the graves that bled for us" and "coming for us" call back to the lyrics of Senjutsu, the opener. This was done on purpose. If it weren't for that, this is the closer of a monster album.....and what a song!!!!!! Good gravy. Up the irons!!!!!

I've been a rock and metal fan since I was a young kid in the 70's. I'm ashamed to say that I passed Iron Maiden over from about 1982 because I thought other bands were better. It took well into the 2010's before I gave them a serious listen. I quickly found that I had been a raving idiot for most of my life. So many years wasted when I could have been enjoying this music. I've tried to isolate why I never enjoyed the songs even though I heard many of them over the years and can't understand why I never understood their music. I still don't know why I missed their talent for so long. At least I eventually realised what I was missing.
