This song is based on the Crimean War, which was fought by the Russians and the Ottoman Empire (England, France, and Sardinia). The opening with the galloping horses is based on The Charge Of The Light Brigade, a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Crowd size here was around 50, 000.

The 1936 movie still holds up today. Don't watch if seeing horses being injured upsets you. A quote from IMDB: For the filming of the climactic charge, 125 horses were trip-wired. Of those, 25 were killed outright or had to be put down afterward. The resulting public furor caused the US Congress to pass laws to protect animals used in motion pictures.

The "skeleton" in the back is Eddie, a "monster" created at the very beginning and present on every album or single cover, in different situations (Egyptian pharao, futuristic character, undead coming out of his grave, fighter pilot.......) The one with the flag in this video is the cover of The Trooper single, and Bruce dresses like that each time they play it live (I actually don't think there has been a show without this song since... the release of the album "Piece of Mind" in 1983...) And by the way, this performance is from 2011 (and you can notice that thay now have 3 guitar players, since the early 2000, when Adrian Smith came back after a ~10 years break, but they decided to keep his successor Janick Gers with them anyways) The mastermind behind all this is Steve Harris, bass player, founder, main composer (a kind of Tuomas Holopainen with a bass 🤣)

Great reaction. Watching Dominika evolve into a full blown metalhead is so cool! I recommend "Fear of the Dark" Flight 666 version. Some are recommending the Rock in Rio version but trust me, Flight 666 is better. Rime of the Ancient Mariner (also from Flight 666) is also amazing

This is very recent in maidens history it's only from about 10 years ago. Performed in Chile. Some amazing songs at this show

Amazing band!!! Live even more amazing!! I've seen them live MANY times,and every time they brought the fire & Bruce sounded fantastic and brought the rock!!😃his vocals were the same the last time I saw them,as the first time I saw them...like he never ages at all!!skills out of this world and lyrics that are truly great at telling stories.Bruce is a history buff and draws on historical events in a lot of his songs.real life events and references throughout their albums.Eddie,the monster in the back,is their mascot!!😃✌

Love your reactions! Iron Maiden are about the only thing left that make me proud to be British! Highly recommend "Rime of the Ancient Mariner' live flight 666 version, the guitar solos towards the end are in a league of their own!

I really enjoyed this reaction video! I've been in Iron Maiden fan since elementary school and I just turned 50 and just seen them in concert 6 days ago here in Denver Colorado.. it was such an amazing experience I had goosebumps every time they play the song that took me back to those early school days. Also being able to sing along with the band during this song when they played was amazing! I literally almost had tears of joy it was so exciting. My wife bought me tickets back in December for my birthday and it was a long 9 months but well worth it! I don't know where you guys are located but if they ever come back in concert and do another tour you two must attend!!!

In addition to being the greatest ever Metal vocalist, Bruce Dickinson is also a former Olympic level fencing champion, a commercial airline pilot and honorary captain in the RAF, has a degree in ancient history and a honorary doctorate in music, has written a few books and a screenplay, is a award winning ale/beer brewer and has kicked cancer’s ass!!! A real life superhero.

Great reaction. I had the LUCK to see them live this year in Prague. Yes, they aged a bit, but still it was one of my top 3 concerts I've ever been to (one of the other 2 was Iron Maiden in 2018, Prague). We'll see, if my top 3 will be the same after this December (Nightwish in Vienna).

From the Last Frontier concert 10 april 2011. One of the best concerts Iron Maiden ever did. I use to be a roadie(truckdriver) at the europeean tour and we were all invited to this concert and the concert in El monumental stadium in Buenas Aires. Latin American fans are the best,the most enthousiastic,wild, they are the nr 1 fans. The original song is from 1991. Listen also from the same concert The Talisman,another supersong. Iron Maiden never disappoint you with the concerts

The original song is from 1983, not 1991. This song is from "Piece of Mind," which was Nicko's first album with Maiden, & Bruce's second album with them. "The Trooper " was one of the singles from the album.

Interesting fact. The drummer Nicko McBain used to play for Trust, a Parrisien band before Iron Maiden, from West Hammersmith England snapped him up.

NOW on to a great live performance in 1969 " INSIDE LOOKIN OUT" by Grand Funk Railroad. It took THE BEATLES "7 "weeks to sellout SHEA STADIUM It took Hrand Funk Railroad 3 days. Then "WE"RE AN AMERICAN BAND" live in71.. God Bless.

The bassist Steve Harris is working hard (as always ) on this one laying down the foundation of the song. It's a bit disappointing we can't see him more in the video, but on the other hand he's coming through strong in the sound mix. He has a bass style which is one of the core elements of Iron Maiden.

The one thing that has not changed with this band in the 30 years I've listened to Maiden is the "galloping" bass witch is integrated into almost every song. The only mistake they made ( my opinion) was the 3rd singer. I was so exited when Bruce came back. He battled throat cancer, beat it, and came back better than before.

Get ready to be invade your channel by WOLFPACK if u do. Some suggestions : Holy War, Break The Wall, Swan Song, Shadowmaker, When Destinies Align.

This for me isn't one of their best songs, but it simply rocks over in stage. Check out "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" live, for example 1984 in Long Beach Arena. It's a longer one... But it's one of their best songs, so much is for sure.

Wait, first i wanna say thank you for another song of Iron Maiden, my Nr.1. Please, please continue with them. So, the Rammstein song is 'Halleluja' live from 2016. Short warning, without spoiling to much. The lyrics are really heavy, very serious, rough but very important. But you can handle it for sure. Sadwise there are only a few reacters(of thousands) who made a react video to this song. Don't know exactly why. Maybe some idiots really believe that Rammstein glorifying crime, violence and other stuff they are singing bout. Alot non-germans actualy believe Rammstein are neo-fascists or racists, serious. Just a little bit of trivia for you when Iron Maiden goes to Chile they almost declare it a holiday as they know nobody is going to work next morning. True fact I was told by a Chilean guy.
