The song is about homesickness and the grind of touring...I guess not very happy subject matter but the song has always felt inspiring and happy to me...the music in this song is awesome. And realize you're living in the golden years" always felt like a great message to live in the moment. “Carpe diem”

ok, Ive been asking for Phantom of the Opera for about four months now (and i'm not giving up on it) but i'm going to change it up a bit. Nov 11 marks the 100 anniversary of the end of WW1. I think it would be cool for you guys to react to Iron Maiden's Paschendale (the live video from Death on the Road) for that date.

This album (Somewhere in Time) deserves a live listen. Almost every song is as catchy and epic as this. There's even a song about running called The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

In addition to the homesickness from being on the road, there's the flip side of getting back from touring, settling in and enjoying it, maybe starting on a new album. Then you start to get restless for those grand experiences of touring, going back and seeing people you met during previous tours, etc etc. It's a source of ambition, but it can also detach you from the present. So, it boils down to striking a balance, really appreciating the experiences of the present, and trying not to dwell too much on time that might feel lost at home or abroad, in the past or the future, lest you find yourself with memories that feel like they belong to someone else.

This song is one of my favorites by Maiden. And it is a great workout song, haha, I’m always listen to them when I’m working out. I think the song is hitting on different stories, but mainly about missing home when you are always on the road and giving up a lot of your life for the music and fans to keep that gravy train going. And it’s so true, how many people have ruined relationships and alienated their families because of being so consumed with work. I don't know if I've seen this reaction of yours but I'm glad you've done it. It's one of my favourite Iron Maiden songs and I was crazy mad about the band when I was a teenager. First song of theirs I heard was The Clairvoyant in 1988 and I just knew they were the band for me. And getting a copy of their Live After Death album furthered my love of their music - I don't know how many times I listened to that tape on my walkman but it eventually wore done. Great message in this song whatever way you want to interpret it.
