A dude held his own against Tyson in his prime
@Daveymallon4 жыл бұрын
Ridge Moore Tyson already wasn’t in his prime by then. He was 3 years removed from Rooney and 3 years intoxicated by kings poison. Tyson still had most of the skill that made him great but he was slipping due to a lack of dedication in the gym. Post Rooney, Tyson was running the show but this fight was about who was more man and Tyson showed what he was really made of. People think Tyson was just a bully but it’s ignorance. He was once an amazingly skilled fighter but by this point he was more or less a skilled gun slinger with big balls. He could’ve had a toe to toe with any man in history. Ruddock could decapitate you with that smash and Tyson took loads of them flush and never even nearly went down once in two fights with Ruddock. Says a lot..
@theunorthodoxfighter39604 жыл бұрын
@@Daveymallon well... He clearly buckled in the 6th, but that doesn't take anything away from Mike, still had one of the most underrated chins, probably better than Holyfields tbh
@Daveymallon4 жыл бұрын
Theunorthodoxfighter what about the left straight after it. He definitely felt that shot before he landed his left hook. You could see him slow for a second but he wasn’t going to go down. Yeah he has an amazing Chin. Look at the guys that beat him(not Williams or McBride) but Lewis Holyfield and Douglas. It was well into the second half of the fight before they got him out of there. He could dish it but he definitely could take it that’s why I say that at his best, when he could slip, throw combos and had amazing speed and accuracy, none of those guys would beat him. He would’ve knocked Lewis and Holyfield out and even the Buster Douglas that he fought, he would’ve been able to negotiate that too.

I agree with David Mallon. He didn't have the same level of defense, head movement, or counter punching, the shifting from conventional to southpaw, he wasn't throwing combos like he did in his true prime, no peek a boo here, someone turned him (maybe himself?) Into a normal boxer, style wise. He ate a lot of punches that a younger Tyson would've easily slipped & countered.

Mike Tyson's chin was never a subject matter prior to this fight, obviously he destroyed everyone before him. Razor Ruddock hit him with all his might several times and Mike ate those shots. Donovan's a very sincere person. Having met him in about 2006. I was working on some customization of his truck. He told us that Iron Mike was pretty gracious after the fight andd told him personally, that was the hardest he'd ever been hit. Not that it did Razor any good but it was profound coming from the former champ. So much so that He and Mike still remain friends to this day. George, not so much.
