What I'm most amazed by is Tyson's durability. He had no swelling, no cuts no nothing at the end of the fight. That's fucking insane, he got caught flush so many times with powerful hooks and straights. Speaks to what a monster he was genetically, he had to beat himself because he subconsciously knew no one could beat him.
@brads26 Жыл бұрын
Perfect storm dethroned him. Lost 2 mentors, got duped by Don King, and taken from his trainer, lost a mother, a sister, and a child, and IMO got falsely convicted of rape from a girl who had a history of false allegations. Like Rocky said "Nobody hits harder than life"

What happened to the myth that Tyson crumbled when somebody fought back???? Nobody wanted to fight Ruddock in his prime including Holyfield and Foreman! Tyson fought Ruddock twice just to get a shot at winning his title back from Holyfield! This is proof that Tyson could win a 12 round war against a massive puncher who was not intimidated! This fight doesn't get enough recognition! Tyson all time top 5 no problem.

@@omniken66 Yeah, Tyson could definitely take a punch. Douglas wore Tyson down with jabs and combinations throughout the fight. Ruddock didn't use his jab and threw power shots one at a time. Tyson almost always slipping those punches, when Razor throws a right, Tyson moves his head to the left, Tysons defense much better that Ruddocks. Also Tyson being low and moving made him so hard to hit for a long armed man who telegraphs his punch's, Mike scored way way more big punch's, he must have had quite a few 10-8 rounds.

@@b9479 yes, he'd had his day. Boxers can only take so much punishment before their skills start to wain. By the time Tyson fought Holyfield and Lewis he was already diminished considerably from his younger days. This was two boxers at their peak. It's all about fighting someone at the right time, as Sun Tsu wisely said. Records mean sh. Wilder fought Fury when he was recovering from drugs and alcohol abuse - timing (but still not good enough in Wilder's case), but on a paper record, it could have looked good for Wilder.

Couldn't agree more. This was one of Tysons hardest fights. And he was in his prime. If ruddock was lighter on his feet and stopped trying to go toe to toe with Tyson and moved around some he could have used his hight and length as an advantage and I can almost guarantee he would have won't this fight. I am always baffled by the sheer power Tysons punches have, its like a relentless battery of artillery firing at Ruddocks body and face. But man, did Raddock put up a good fight or what?

Both fighters were damaged after this. Mike could no longer move his head like he used to and Razor had a broken jaw. In one of mikes podcast he expressed regret of taking the rematch because he said something changed with him after that. This is probably the last sight of a vintage prime Mike Tyson
@IntermitenciaMental3 жыл бұрын
Can you recall in which podcast he said that?
@DemiGodX3 жыл бұрын
J J I can’t recall which but it was during the 1st season. Early episode probably. Maybe the onyx interview or around that time. Might have even been during the Jim Jones or snoop interview

This version of Tyson would have KO'd Buster Douglas.
@bloodfluke75306 жыл бұрын
Well, I guess Mike did KO Douglas...Buster Douglas was down for 13 seconds, but the referee, unfortunately for Tyson, was so slow to start counting... Tyson was unprepared for the fight, and admits to not taking Douglas seriously, going out partying in Tokyo, and essentially disrespecting and under-estimating his opponent...which is so often the case in boxing...arrogance, complacency, believing they have a right to win every fight... Tyson with Rooney in his corner, if fought Douglas then, Tyson would've won...but Buster fought an incredible fight...he was excellent on the night, just a shame he couldn't maintain it
@beachlife29686 жыл бұрын
Douglas had just lost his mother at that time and Tyson was in a mess in his life. If Tyson fought Douglas 10 times, Tyson would win 9 times out of 10, on that day it just happened to be the 1 time Douglas won

to be honest , That fight showed that Mike was great with though heart , unbeleivable chin and stamina. these qualities deny what haters pretend that kid dynamit couldn't fight in the same rythm 10 or 12 rounds . if an other oppenent even great received like all that shots and punches from ruddik, he would be ko'ed but Mike swallawed them easily

Shoot me down for saying this as tyson is my favorite hw but ruddock has the fastest hardest lefthook in the history of hw boxing, only fraisers may have been better
@omniken664 жыл бұрын
No, That would be Tommy Morrison who floored Rudduck with an even faster left hook!
@deadarmd4 жыл бұрын
I think Tyson left hook better than both. Quicker and shorter. In these fights he was throwing arm punches half the time. Still Rudduck great left hook The Duke also had an incredible left hook. Like a machine piston
