DECOUPAGE Iron-On METHOD onto Canvas using MOD PODGE
This is a full tutorial of how to decoupage onto a canvas using the iron on method with mod podge. One of the main problems when trying to decoupage an image onto a canvas is bubbling and wrinkles. This method prevents this from happening . This video will show the steps from start to finish to guide you along if you would like to try this iron on decoupage method yourself at home. I create a farmhouse theme graphic and decoupage it to a canvas using the iron on method with mod podge.

Have you tried this with fabric? I want to apply fabric to a canvas, and then do a reverse painting technique where the background is painted, leaving the fabric showing through as the design. I need the background to be smooth and bubble free so I'm thinking it will work. So excited to try it.

@@OurUpcycledLife I tried it yesterday and it worked!! So much better than placing the fabric on wet Mod Podge and applying more over the top. That way it dried with bubbles and was super rough. I tried to cover boxes and ended up throwing them in the trash yesterday right before the trash was picked up. If I had kept them, I could have tried ironing them but too late now. Anyway, I so much appreciate you sharing your technique! I'm getting ready to do the next steps now.

This is very informative. Thank you! I bought a canvas print from Temu. I thought it came with a frame, but it didn't. I want to attach it to a foam board and build a frame around it. Can I use the Mod Podge technique to attach the canvas to the foam board without melting it?

I cannot find the link for putting printed ink jet paper onto canvas? What’s the extra step? Putting it in the oven for a bit? I printed my picture days ago. Do I still need to do this?

if you give it a spray with hair spray it will seal it and work well to put on canvas then if it has sat! Thanks for watching Julie!

To make it easy to iron the paper on. Ironing would be a mess with wet Mod podge. Mod podge gets reactivated with heat and the iron gets all the creases out of the paper. You are left with wrinkle free decoupage

It’s is a type of glue, I really think it is similar to white school glue, maybe watered down a bit

Only if painted with chalk paint. It is very difficult to do on bare metal. It rubs off very easy

I want to adhere a poster to a canvas but would like the texture of the canvas to come through the image. Would that happen with this method?

Yes it should work fine as long as your poster is thin ❤️

I'm sorry but this did not work!! 3 coats of mod podge, dried for a week. Printed on our hp ink jet, blotchy and once dried would not peel off..

I’ve never been able to use my inkjet with any mod podge/heat. I went out and bought a LaserJet just so I could do these projects. I bought a secondhand one with only black ink so unfortunately I can’t do any thing color but I have plenty to do in black-and-white. She does state that she has another tutorial if you’re using inkjet. You might want to look that one up and see what she does differently. I’m sure there’s another step or two

@@laurielea1672 I honestly don’t know I’m just going by what she said in the vid we are commenting on. I can say from my own personal experience… If I use my inkjet, for water slide transfers or anything like that, I have to spray it with a poly acrylic coating or something of that nature. Like three light coats. I don’t know however if that would work for something like this. I suppose anything is worth a shot. That’s how I learn lol I make lots, and lots of mistakes. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️
