Iron has one advantage you didn't cover: it uses less space in the stockpile. So if your sieging an enemy you have more time before the stockpile is full. But at the end it really mattes which distance is longer and how munch farms you can place.

This is one thing I like from Stronghold Crusader 2. Ox tethers can load iron ingots. Never made sense to me why they hand carry it when ox exists. Probably because of balancing reasons.

There is one more obvious use for stone not mentioned in this vid, and that is to supply ammunition for the broken siege units known as catapults

I prefer Iron 100%. Less clicks to sell it and if the buildings are farther away, you can pause->sleep->wake->unpause to get extra help

(I wonder if you got the idea from one of my recent comments on the building tier list^^) Two thins you need to consider too: 1)Stone needs at LEAST 4 peasants to run it, while iron needs always only two. So you need to feed a lot more workers. 2)And also consider that stone need a lot more space to build. Usually you can build almost twice as much iron mines on the same area than stone mines. Still prefer iron 100%, but stone seems at least a very solid choice indeed, didnt know they are that good. Thanks for comparing!

The only thing you could of taken into account was the fact was working pop usage. Situationally that may be better or worse for you. If you have the food and you are taxing the more pops the better, but if you are trying to streamline your economy for how much food you are bringing in then less working pops per gold is better.

And this is exactly why we increased the buy/sell price of iron and iron weapons, and reduced stone buy/sell cost.NOw stone is still worth more bper building, but with the offset of you having to feed workers it becomes less useful to spam in the early, and you rather want to sprinkle iron for money in. You want still stone for upgrading tech in bootstrap as all the tech buildings cost stone. But you want iron too to get those unit upgrades with maces and armour/swords. Its just way better balanced with bootstrap that way :D

You could have also cobered that stonemines need more worker than the Iron mine

There is a stone quarry glitch, you need to build them, all the workers inside and close it so no other workers can enter thr place and just put the bulls next to stockpile, they will give you stone much, much faster.

You forgot to mention that stone quarries also require 2 peasants for stone to be delivered to your stockpile (for a single stone quarry) while iron mines only need one. This means (peasant wise) that for 5 stone quarries you can have 10 iron mines. This is a minor thing but it can matter if you are really limited in peasants for some reason.

its pretty obvious that stone would win this. Mostly because of that one glitch where you block off the quarries using stone walls so the ox tether's don't get to them and instead put the ox tethers near the stockpiles for faster stone gathering. I personally like both of them but only use one of them because its more efficient and once i gather enough gold and resources I build both the quarries and iron mines. All in all stone wins.

Well, I always needed stones for my catapult, but I also needed Iron for my Mace production. However, since many maps have more places for Quarry. Stone looks better to sale.

One more advantage for the iron. It employes less villagers, which means, lesser needs on food and overall economy structure

The calculation of the time produce iron and ston is incorect, coz how far the quary and iron mine is the factor how fast the iron mine and quary product the goods. For example in 1 min on 40 unit, A mine can produce 3 iron. But in less than 8 unit, Only can produce 2 iron per minute. Ideally, iron mine must on 40-50 unit from stock pile. For The quary, how much the stone can produce depend of the location of ox. For example in the same location of quary (ideal 45 - 60 unit from stock pile) when the ox is close to the stone, will produce 16 stone in 55 sec, but if the ox more than 8 unit from the stone, it Will produce 16 stone in 1min and 22sec. And what my oppinion about wich better? Depend of resource in the maps or what kind of game play of each player. For investment, better using stone, coz stone is multipurpose on this game. For example repair the wall or Tower, use stone to refilling the catapul, the selling price is high and more. If you play for fast game play with less gold, better looking for iron mine, coz you can sell less goods with high price or make weapon from iron to make unit or up the price selling. For me, I like to sell iron to buy mercenarry army coz i hate granary and armory (never build it since I win a challance to not use it).

as someone who never uses iron unless I really need macemen to rush the moats and walls behind it, my entire economy relies on stone production. Remember that desert map which has no oasis ground? Yeah, I unexpectedly performed quite well there. at least, good enough to ward off AI Saladin into a stalemate.

Imagine fear factor wouldnt increase the amount of resources u gwt but how fast workers work and how fast they walk that would be cool lmao

It sounds like he doesn't know about the stone quarry glitch... Just surround your stone quarries with walls, motes, or even just buildings, and then build the ox tethers right next to your stockpile. If you do this stone becomes so much more efficient than iron it isn't even close.

Stones must be controlled and sell. But Iron can be sell anytime and buy weapons from it.
