In this video I look at the brand new (2021) Iron Will Single bevel (250 grain without bleeders) and put it under the microscope and in the sharpness tester. I then go on to explain sharpening (since you will need to sharpen this head for as long as you hunt with it)
Single bevel things you need to know. • Single Bevel Broadhead...

@@innovativeoutdoorsman5067 oh definitely good to know. Next 2 question what angle bevel is gonna do best (rotation and edge sharpness) and I seen VPA is a flat tire vs a point or tonto tip. Whichvstyle tip is gonna hold up better or or preform better?

@@bbmopar3834b There is not "Best" in rotation and sharpness is owned by the hunter. Always maximize the edge as best as you can or hire that job out. The flat tanto tip where the 2 bevel meet will not be a strong as a reground "V" tanto.

Ron, I ended up ordering the single bevel one with the bleeder blades before reading your comment on the bleeder blades. I’m mainly shooting whitetail deer with them and figured the bleeders would give better blood trails. I don’t know if it’s a myth but I had heard that the single bevels leave less of a blood trail. That doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway. My questions after rambling is on sharpening the bleeders. Is it worth doing and can I use the same guide. I believe they have the same angle bevel.
@innovativeoutdoorsman5067
@innovativeoutdoorsman5067 3 жыл бұрын
you can try to sharpen the bleeders with the same 32 degree guide. Mine didnt have bleeders so I can say for certain what angle the bleeders are honed at. You may wish to call Bill at Iron will to confirm.

I’ve shot multiple deer with fixed blade. Only one with no bleeders, the deer died within 30 seconds… which was cool but, absolutely no blood and only a blood pool the size of a orange under where he was laying. Bleeders help it bleed. I can’t see them having many negatives except the noise. Which isn’t much. Maybe flight, but again.. isn’t much.

I bought this along with the set of 5 diamond plates, and went down to a piece of cardboard , but am still having trouble getting shaving sharpness. Without any tape, it’s only taking material off the back end of the bevel, so I had to put Lots of tape on the roller to get it angled properly to sharpen the leading edge. It probably took 40+ strokes to get a little burr, and it’s difficult to hold the blade flat to knock the burr off without removing the blade from the jig, and then re-aligning it again. I just can’t seem to duplicate the results in the video, no matter how long I spend on it. - frustrating!
