It took some time to try all these out but I can honestly say I was happy with all of them. I liked some better than others, but some had some really great features. Check out their website, they have a LOT more gloves than I tried out here. You might find something perfectly suited for your needs.
I have to say, I may be converted to using this type of glove in the future. I just washed my Mechanc gloves and they came out good as new. Considering the cost, it's actually less expensive than the latex gloves I've been using for many years. Yes, there are some drawbacks such as the feedback you get from using latex or nitrile gloves, but on the flip side, my gloves aren't filling up with sweat on hot days or ripping during use.
You can decide what's right for you but if you're considering something other than latex or nitrile, I'd suggest giving Ironclad a look.

The WORST thing is sweating in latex gloves because when you need to put new ones on, it's a nightmare. You almost have to blow compressed air while trying to slide your hand in the glove.

I have 2 sets for my daily "mechanical" tasks. The "mechanic" type as Eric used the most I also use for common tasks, but the "velcro" type heavy-duty ones I use for handling things like exhausts, brakes and other things where the extra padding helps to avoid getting cut or scolded.

I just ordered a new pair of the mechanic gloves. I am very happy with the fit. because of my fat palms and stubby fingers most gloves that I can wear have a lot of finger slop. these however fit nice and snug!! gonna order a few more just because they fit my hands perfect. great review.

I work at a timberyard and use ironclads ranchworx gloves as they're supplied to me, a set usually last me 1-2 months handling timber, fibre cement sheeting, particle boards and steel. They're great gloves but if I was paying for them out of my own pocket I wouldn't touch them as they're just too expensive to justify.

I've got just the typical Mechanix style gloves, and they're especially good for using on a car that's just been driven. You can handle parts that'd burn you if you didn't wear them (I'm not really sure exact temperatures, not exhaust parts or anything). Just remember, touching something that is 150 degrees for one second will cause second degree burns, and touching it for 2 seconds will be a third degree burn. Bump that up to 160 and you'll have a third degree burn in ONE second!

I'd tried all types of gloves, mostly the popular nitrile and equivalents. I have yet to find a set of fabric gloves that I like; they just don't have the sensitivity I want. The typical nitrile always ripped on me and I ended up dirty anyway. I'd recommend anyone looking for good gloves to try some thicker nitrile that are more robust, usually found in industrial catalogs. Lately I'm using Gloveworks HD, orange. 7-10 mil in thickness, with textured surface for increased grip on slippery parts. Love 'em. Not only do they not rip but they're durable enough that I can re-use them. Blow them up like a balloon to get the fingers right, if inside out. Cheap as other nitrile gloves, too.

It's interesting how times have changed. I have maintained military aircraft for over 30 years and the only gloves we ever used were crude leather gloves for hot work like changing brakes on an aircraft that just landed at 130 mph with max braking. The leather gloves were inevitably oil soaked (made them more flexible and comfortable actually) and smoke would pour off them as you pulled off multiple stages of intensely hot brake rotors. And we survived just fine. In fact, the girls seemed to appreciate rough "working" hands over perhaps the softies of an accountant lol. I get a bit of a giggle at those who have followed my generation in aviation. They won't touch a darned thing without their nitrile gloves on for fear of getting dirty. No diss intended, just a different world these days....

The older i get the more protection i need. I admit starting screws with gloves on is not the same as natural finger tips and harder for some than for others again especially the older we get. I would like to try a pair of thin leather gloves with no finger tips and also some kind of thin sleeve to go from wrist to elbow, I'm getting pretty sick and tired of jamming my hand and arm down into a razor infested engineers wet dream and pulling my arm out coated in blood. Venting I'm Venting. Thanks for the video.

What about these gloves getting oil-soaked? This is the main reason I use latex gloves.
@ericthecarguy
@ericthecarguy 8 жыл бұрын
+Rob Carstuff Good question. I've gotten these oil soaked and all I needed to do was wash them and they came back. I've only done one wash so far. Don't know how many I can do before they start to break down. Also, the oil doesn't seem to penetrate initially. It takes a bit. It's taken some getting used to, but I've been using these gloves more and more. Mostly for the heavy work like rotating tires and stuff like that.

I'm always on the lookout for cloth mechanic's gloves. I use them mainly to do tire work. Will have to check these out. Hey man, I noticed you used your gloves to do an oil filter. PROTIP: Wear the cloth glove to insulate against heat AND put a rubber/latex glove on top of the cloth. It sounds silly to double up on gloves, but the rubber/latex prevents you from getting your cloth gloves soaked in fluids. Eventually, those fluids soak through the cloth and get your hands dirty and slick. The latex over cloth trick is also a great idea when searching for leaks with an outdoor tire dunk tank in the winter. Again, cloth insulates and latex keeps the cloth clean and dry. Hope somebody learned something from this so they don't have to learn the hard way like I did. Stay Dirty

you wear the impact armored gloves if you break bolts or nuts free with hand tools a lot for the job. I have both armored and non armored gloves. the protection is very useful when you break a bolt free and punch something in the process. text book method is always pull towards your body but sometimes you can't get the leverage to do so.
@jetjazz05
@jetjazz05 8 жыл бұрын
+zx8401ztv Yeah, but you really can't cheat the laws of physics. If you make a glove too thin they'll wear out REALLY fast, hence why often times Eric's videos show his nitrile gloves ripped. If you made gloves that thin they'd have to be cheaper than nitrile gloves or no one would buy, or they'd be made out of some crazy expensive material to be able to be that thin. The only time I even use gloves is when I have to work on the engine while it's hot (I do work on my own vehicles only, maybe family once in a while). Hell, today I didn't use gloves and I changed my front passenger wheel speed sensor, and I got BURNED. No, literally... I should've put my damn gloves on lol.

+Clever Pup Not sure why you are complaining about the price of a heavy duty winter glove?? I spent about $40 on my last pair of winter gloves and they lasted one winter season of shoveling/snow blowing. I'm pretty sure these will last at least twice as long...thus SAVING ~$20
@CleverPup
@CleverPup 8 жыл бұрын
+WreckDiver99 Do you know math. 40-20= 20. 65-20=45. So where do you get where you are saving money?. Because I can get cheap gloves that will last 5-8 years depending how they are used.
@WreckDiver99
@WreckDiver99 8 жыл бұрын
Ummm $40 I spent on the gloves...So actually the delta is $25, which means I'm still better off buying the $65 gloves if they last more than a single year. Its great that you can find "cheap" gloves that last 5 to 8 years, I have yet to find a "cheap" pair that lasts more than 6 to 8 weeks as they get extreme use by me. My $40 gloves last year lasted a year, vs. 4 pair of "cheap" gloves at $12 a pair...so I actually saves $8 by buying "quality" gloves. I'd be interested in how the Ironclad gloves hold up because if they last 2 years I have a $25 savings. Sorry, I use the crap out of my gloves...maybe if I only used them once in a while I could use "cheap", but I have heavy use nearly daily.
@CleverPup
@CleverPup 8 жыл бұрын
WreckDiver99 I use "cheap" gloves to do woodworking. automotive, snow shoveling, lawn mowing, odd ins around the house, shingling. They hold up well for me. Other people might not. But for me they do. And FYI I wasn't telling you how to spend your money. If that's what you thought. I was just saying $65 is a little to much for a pair of gloves. After all they are just gloves.

No, no personal stake at all. What I have is the knowledge from friends that do product reviews (both tools and computer equipment). In many cases they are told to return the item once their review/test has been completed. Sometimes they are told they can keep the item (sometimes its "you can keep it, but please don't give this away"), and sometimes they are even told to destroy the item or make the item useless.

Tat2Dragons sometimes yes, sometimes no. One of the computer bloggers got 3 titan X video cards at $1k each. They were prototype cards. He had to send them back when he was done. He also got a couple cases from case labs. Those were $750 each as outfit. He was allowed to keep one of the two. The one he kept was used for a mega pc build. He gets lots of stuff like this all the time...much of it ends up going back...he even mentions it in several of his reviews. Then again he has over a million subscribers and is making quite a bit of coin from that.
