It's the same with African families too bro It's actually sad because they show up at anytime that might mean money, especially funerals, and just fucking grab anything that their arms can reach. Like imagine one of your relatives dies and leaves you something to keep for them and some fucking uncle or cousin you thought was cool comes to fucking take it from you....while you're still sad and beat and just a wreck of a person. (For context I am African, Zambian to be specific and this happened to me and very close friends of mine)

I was gonna say the exact same thing cause I don't know her extended family but yeah not a lot of hispanic families would understand her condition at all so they will be assuming the worse at best and if they find out anything about you hitting the lotto or just got rich, things do change for the worse. x_X So I don't know her extended family at all, maybe they would understand if they listen and know what is going on and they would be understanding but why chance it really?

I think that’s why she’s being so secretive about her online persona. It’s kinda like a superhero double identity life. Keeping family safe by not having to expose one’s self or financials to certain types of people who’d take advantage of that. Also, people are entitled to privacy and it’s not up to others to disclose that information, even family.

Vtubers living the double identity superhero life is so fascinating but, understandably a factor in keeping that normal relationship with friends and family. Everyday streamers are recognized and constantly have to manage parasocial relationships with real ones, but the mask of a persona is also an essential balancing act just to keep the questions or accusations to a minimum. I come from a very large Hispanic family. My mother was the last of 12 children, and each of those 12 had at least 2 children. Many of them had 3 and 4, a few even had 5+. As one would imagine, this has lead to completely insane age differences. I have people that are technically my cousins that are 30 years older than I am. I was technically an uncle by the time I was 9 years old. But only my immediate family knows what I do and how much I make. Rather than just being happy for your success, some family members see you get even a little bit of money and they start asking for handouts. I can't even imagine how it'd be for someone that is the biggest (and probably highest paid) Vtuber of all time. Just with my own situation, I've had family ask for $2,000 on a day's notice and then get upset when I tell them I don't have that kind of money, at least not in terms of disposable income I can just burn through with no repercussions. It's a tough situation. I don't blame Mouse for only telling her immediate family that she's super successful.
@StochasticUniverse6 ай бұрын
For what it's worth, you don't have to have a huge family to wind up in that situation. I have a cousin who is 22 years younger than me and I only have a grand total of 3 cousins. His mother, my aunt, waited until she was 44 to have her only child. If one sister has a kid in her 20s and the other has a kid in her 40s, the big gap is going to happen automatically.

Mouse has talked about her concerns with letting her extended family know what she does. The family will gossip and tell others about what she does, not thinking of the risks towards her and her mom and dad. Talking from experience, it's better to be the "richest one that nobody know of" in a family then the "poorest one that everybody is aware of". The worst you risk is the secret being discovered and realizing not everyone loves you for only who you are, one time. It's better then having a constant reminder of the fact that all your family could help you out but very few care enough to do it.
@StochasticUniverse6 ай бұрын
Just a couple generations ago, there really weren't many examples of someone being a lot poorer than their siblings. Everyone in the family generally made about the same money because they would all tend to work doing the same stuff. Very few people went to college prior to the 1960s in the United States, for example; if you worked at a factory, there was a good chance everyone in your family did (probably the same factory, even). But now, most young people go to college. The ones that don't are massively behind everyone else. And even among those who go to college, your brother who was always a math whiz in school and who now has a job in STEM is going to make double what your sister the elementary school teacher makes. This is what caused the rise of income inequality and it has made this problem much, much worse. It's always awkward at a family get-together when someone has triple or quadruple what someone else with the same genes has. In an ideal world, people wouldn't bring it up and you could just pretend you're all equal for the duration of an evening, but we don't live in an ideal world.

I knew that some people wouldn't even know what a VTuber is. But, those youngins, I can bet at least one of them know Ironmouse. She is that famous in my opinion. And considering her situation, it's not that hard to connect the dots once someone get a hint. So, it's better for her to hide it.

@StochasticUniverse6 ай бұрын
A glass wall would actually be a really interesting idea, although unless the room on the other side of the glass wall has a separate hallway leading to it, you could still run into problems with people leaving germs in the hallway leading to the room that Mouse would later come into contact with. To have real infection control, you need total separation of everything. I don't know how bad her immune system is, but she got sick when her sister came to visit recently and I'm sure they took reasonable, standard precautions, so I'm guessing it's virtually nonexistent.

In all seriousness, I'd go with what a lot of other vtubers say, and claim to be a voice actor or just a streamer. No reason to make ppl assume the worst! Makes sense to keep her income a secret though. She needs the money to pay for her medical stuff (and models...), and the rest she worked hard for. @StochasticUniverse6 ай бұрын
It's not a colony. Pueto Rico can literally just leave and become an independent country any time they want to. They just don't want to because they know they'd wind up as a full-blown Third World country if they did, and that's not in their best interests. The Philippines and Hawaii both became part of the US at the same time as Puerto Rico. The Filipinos wanted to be independent and became so in 1948. By contrast, Hawaii became a state in 1959. Puerto Rico stayed in the middle option. Today, Hawaii has more money than most of the US, the Philippines is a poor country literally run by the son of its former dictator, and PR is...PR. The takeaway is that the closer you get to the US, the better off you are. Independence isn't just some magical thing that makes your life better. EDIT: Oh, Cuba also became part of the US at the same time as Puerto Rico. Cuba is now the world's last legit communist county and desperately poor. So, yeah, you can add that to the mix of countries that have tried different approaches after leaving the US, lol. They wound up even worse than the Philippines.
