We are making art out of drop cloth material! Yes drop cloth!! Aimee bought some cut down into shop-towel size and is using them to frame up some beautiful home decor.
This DIY home decor project is perfect for shabby chic or French Country Cottage styles or to make for resale.
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to use IOD Transfers and IOD Stamps with IOD retailer, Aimee of MamaBearBlue.

I have a storage container that I put my scraps or leftovers into to save Last month I took my scraps bucket to a local assisted living home and helped some of the residents create a sweet craft project! They loved it! You don’t ever want your scraps to go to waste!! They loved it so much I am doing a return visit next week! So much fun sharing! 🥰

I just received IOD Brocante transfers and can't wait to get started. Thank you for sharing! I loved your ideas. I think I would have used a bigger frame for the birds so their little heads weren't cut off!

Oh WOW, these are fantastic 👏 I didn't even know that you could put IOD Transfers on fabric! Thank you so much for making this brilliant video. I'm definitely going to try doing this with some of my IOD transfers. I LOVE the Brocante set, but I haven't bought it yet because it's a bit pricey here in Australia at $84, but I will get it soon. A long, narrow frame would look beautiful with one of the rows of birds from the Brocante set behind it. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne ❤

Thanks for these tips and ideas! I am going to go to Harbor Freight to look for the shop cloths. I liked the method of using the stamp first and then the transfer. Very pretty!

@@SherryNerreau I don't think they have to be, but it wouldn't hurt to wash them! If you do wash them though, just make sure not to use any fabric softener :)

Are there any special instructions on washing and drying the drop cloth? Water temp etc

Could you do this on a floorcloth and actually use it as a rug with that no-skid stuff under the rug? Would you seal it with like a polyacrylic? Can you chalk paint the floorcloth before you apply all the ink and tranfers?

Hi Marty! They definitely will! You will probably want to put something underneath the canvas so you don't break through it though. The transfers do require good pressure for applying 😊

Your designs are lovely and it's very easy to follow your instructions. Do you wash the 16" drop cloth squares from Harbor Freight?

Thank you so much! I didn't wash them as the are fairly soft already. You can also use painters drop cloth that has been washed and cut into smaller pieces.🙂

I’m new at this. Can you give me more information on the sealer you would use? Can you use a spray, clear matte finish?

Hi Judy! You can use a spray or brush on. We recommend any water based sealers! We always suggest talking with whoever you purchase your paint from, as they will know what sealer will work best😊

Thanks Cheryl! I purchased these at Harbor Freight. If you don't have one locally they do have a website. You could do the same project using painters drop cloth that has been washed and cut into smaller pieces. The Harbor Freight shop towels are fairly soft so I didn't wash them first. I attempted to put an IOD transfer on drop cloth to make a heart for Valentine's Day. However, the transfer cracked and peeled off almost immediately. Any idea why or advice? Thanks so much!

Hi Heather! Transfers on drop cloth are considered off label use, but we have seen people have success with it! Did you paint the drop cloth first?

Hi there! No, I sure didn’t. I’ve seen people do it & have success but they didn’t paint it first. Perhaps it was because I was manipulating the fabric too much after I applied the transfer? I made a stuffed heart with the material. I’m just not sure.

If you purchase your paint from your stockist, we recommend talking to them, as they would have the top coat that works best with your paint😊 If not, any water based sealer will work❤

Usually it is used while painting walls. Painters use them to lay on the floor so the paint doesn't get on the floor. I wonder what the terminology would be in Australia?
