Yes I know I keep shifting my pronunciation of Haudenosaunee. y
The Iroquois League after a period of constant low level warring over blood feuds, trade and territory, break out with a string of runaway victories and utterly annihilate the political order of the Great Lakes Region. Was it all over beaver fur?

I can understand now why he was let go from his teaching job.The above map is not correct and appears to be doctor.Some one has use three different (Leroy) and free STYLE, he shows "Car.place" and also Car.place to Canada ?The People Of The Long House Map(1720) Shows "TE-Car-Hohs" a TRIBE IN THE territory of "NUN-DA-WAN-O-NO- GA"?? Please be carful with this ex-teacher.He is not very well in formed .

1:14:10 I live in the area and I can confirm that other native americans called those people the Attawandaron, and even that was an unflattering nickname

The true native empire that was born out of the beaver wars was the Anishinaabeg who defeated the Iroquois and Dakota

I still cringe when I remember my 4th grade teacher insisting "Iroquois" was pronounced "iroh-queues"

Again another amazing episode! This really helps me to understand what I am seeing in my chart. We have members who were captives and who were killed by the Natives around Orange. The person where there is no explanation somebody is listed as Indian but part of my Dutch family. On my mothers side we were in Jamestown as early as 1607. So many died there in the beginning people married each other if they lived. Lots of Native Americans down there in the family line. In those times it was brutal with disease and starvation

Decimation means to reduce by 10 percent. Therefore, losing 75 - 90 % of a population is much more DEVISTATING.

This is no longer the primary definition despite what Dectective Monk might say to the magazine editor, however it is the historical definition.

@@theotherstatesofamericahis5212 News to me. Must be from a contemporary reference. FYI deci= Latin for tens or tenth. Besides, there are more colorful descriptors such as blasted or scourged. Further, why the faux hand purportedly petting the image of a dog in an old painting? It's superfluous, pandering and childish. I'm not watching to learn your feelings toward pets.

I mention them in these Iroquois episodes, there is so little on them, but they were an Iroquoian speaking people absorbed by the Haudenosaunee, i would assume culturally they were very similar, but i'll leave it up to you to make that podcast, lol.
