Amazing information! I just dug a 60ft trench in my front lawn and installed the first Rainbird 32ETI DIY kit with 1/2 inch irrigation tubing (with garden hose). Having done it once, I wanted to modify the componets (heads) and tried to get it done with buying individual component. While I was doing research, I came across your videos and I have to say this is by far the most informative series on YT. Now I feel like perhaps I could and should have done something more professional. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge!!

Great Vid, lots of info and clearly explained! I don't have a lawn, mostly weeds that look like one. And that's a small strip in back that I'm converting to beds and hardscape. I have installed drip throughout yard though.

Nicely done. Thanks for the comment.

I’ve been researching this topic in preparation for re-doing my backyard. The builder did not have complete coverage and there are huge dry spots. easily 10 feet in diameter if not more. Do you have any advice on head-to-head sprinkler coverage? you talk about overlap instead, which implies less than head-to-head coverage. i haven’t watched part 2 yet, but you should tell your viewers how to read a friction loss table and the 5ft/sec rule. That will allow you to figure out how much water the mainline can provide and calculate how many heads you can place on a zone. Also, many municipalities require a backflow device. In my state, a backflow is required by law. failure to comply can lead to disconnecting your water until you pay $1000 fine and correct the problem.

Well anti sipho valves are a back flow device but your may require more. You will tend to lose people if you over complicate calculations too much but thanks for your input. The overlap is beyond head to head coverage because wind and water pressure variances can reduce throw so slightly closer spacing mitigates that a lot of

@@YardCoach Ah!! That makes sense. so you ‘re saying want go beyond head to head to give your design margin for things beyond your control. Thanks for the reply!

In my house I measured my water pressure which is 40PSI. I would like to diy my in ground sprinkle system. would it be possible to install the sprinkle system with 40PSI?
@YardCoach4 күн бұрын
Yes it is possible. Depending on how big or an area you need irrigation. Drip irrigation no problem. Large lawns you will need more zones. Thanks for Q. Coach.

I've got 36k² yard. Would I be able to do half this year then knock the rest out next year?
@YardCoach2 ай бұрын
Short answer, sure. Is this all turf or combination of planter beds and turf? Place multiple valve assemblies now and get your wire in a main trench and routed to a timer. Then do your runs from each assembly as time allows.
@brycecrittenden27892 ай бұрын
@@YardCoach I would like to put our planter beds on drip eventually too. I'm mainly wanting to do the turf so we can quit dragging hoses and wasting water. I was thinking about doing 5ksqft at a time over the next few years.
@YardCoach2 ай бұрын
@brycecrittenden2789 it’s never cheaper than yesterday. I would rather divide into front and back yard. Open the ground up one time and be done in one season or less. Stub up for planter beds and complete at another time.
