Irving Thalberg was the greatest movie producer there ever was. He was M-G-M. He set the standard by which all great movies are made. What made him a genius was that not only did he know the business side of the movie business, but he also knew the movie side, as well. He knew how to make a bad movie good, a good movie great and a great movie into a masterpiece. He also knew how to make money from all of it. There had never been anyone like him before and there has never been anyone like him since. Irving Thalberg was one of a kind.
