Why is it a quality product? It's not a Lexus or Acura quality. I have friends who have them and have electrical issues. & they don't hold their resale value like a Lexus.
@gregwiens353 жыл бұрын
Alan K I've owned 2 Lexus (IS, and still have the RX) and two Acuras so comparing them all, each have "quality" in a lot of areas. Genesis is still young, but as a G70 owner, I can only tell you my perspective based on fit and finish, Nappa leather, aluminum, they are quality focused. Miy Acura had to be repainted due to a factory defect, the Lexus IS (2016) temperature control had a mind of its own some days. Each luxury brand delivers some sort of quality promise.
@walterhayden47053 жыл бұрын
@@guitarexpert2245 I would disagree. I ordered a 2015 Lexus GS350 with all the bells and whistles, and was disappointed with features I felt it should have had, especially for what I paid. I just purchased my 2021 G80 3.5T Prestige Pkg, and paid about $6K less ($69K) OTD and it has everything I wished the GS350 did. I paid $75K OTD for the GS350 (with a maintenance plan) and only got $24K for the trade about 3 years later. When I was shopping for a new vehicle, I considered the Lexus ES and several other comparable luxury models in the same price range, and the G80 had so many more features. The G80 can park its self and if some loser parks too close your car making it impossible to get in; you can simply remote start the G80 and back it up with the key fob until it is far enough out to get in. No need to squeeze through the door trying to not hit the car next to you or having to crawl through the other side. The quality of the G80 is so much better. First the performance: both are AWD, the Lexus had 306 HP with a 5.9 0-60; the G80 has 375 HP with a 5.2 0-60. The styling of the Lexus was a sporty "want-to-be"; the G80 is much more luxury and has the look of a much more expensive vehicle. The interior trim is heads above the Lexus, the wood trim is really nice and feel like real wood (and yes I do like to rub it), the infotainment is bigger and much nicer as well. The G80 Connective service is free for the first 5 years, and they will pick up your vehicle leaving you with a loaner until they return yours after service. Lexus makes you pay for their connective service after a year and you cannot remote start the vehicle without the paid service and if your lucky you might get a loaner when you take it in for service. Obviously, I haven't traded my G80, so I can't speak to its resale; however, I don't think I'll be disappointed with the G80 as I was with the GS350 and won't want to trade it in after 3 years. I also can't speak to its reliability, but it comes with a good warrantee and the first three years of maintenance is covered for "free". Overall the G80 is a "better" buy than the GS350. I haven't owned any of the other luxury model sedans in the $70K OTD price range, but would find it hard to believe any of them would give you a bigger bang for your buck.
@guitarexpert22453 жыл бұрын
@@walterhayden4705 Well the Genisis for the first 100k maybe but that Lexus can go 300-400k virtually without much maintenance. That Genisis after 100k, starts to fall apart. But if you don't keep your cars that long then i guess it really doesn't matter.

Yeah having someone else’s leftovers with 15k per year, not knowing if they were the type to fly over speed bumps, potholes etc. Even if you waited 3 years you’re probably going to finance it for 4years which means by the time you pay it off the car will be 7years old with around 105k on the ODO and that’s being generous.
@TheStruggleistooReal3 жыл бұрын
That's why you get a Carfax before you buy and get a professional mechanic you trust to go over the car before you even consider buying it. If you'd rather spend $66,000 that you don't have and finance it so it costs you closer to $80,000 to only end up depreciating to half in a few years then by all means go ahead. Most people are all about the now not the long term.
@isimonsez3 жыл бұрын
@@TheStruggleistooReal I financed a $100,000 range rover at less than 1% APR. If you’re going to pay $10k+ in interest then you have much bigger financial issues and should be getting a Sentra. Carfax will tell you it’s been damaged and repaired but it’s not gonna tell you how the person drove it
@TheStruggleistooReal3 жыл бұрын
actually rather the opposite of spending $100,000 on a car is considered normal to you.You're probably in another country but the average interest rate here is 5.27%. No car dealership will do a loan for 1% but hey your money do and spend as you please. I'd rather have the money invested in assets that actually go up in value not down like a high end luxury car. Let me know how much it's gone up in value 5 years from now in addition to all the reliability issues you'll have with those type of cars.

Liked your honesty about the things that didn't float your boat, but these were very few on an otherwise well designed and very stylish car. The turn signal blind spot view in the dash cluster should be mandatory across all motor vehicles, it could save countless accidents. I had an s550 picked out and decided to go with a pearl white g80 prestige. Completely loaded, quiet interior, ambient lighting, great pickup and engine, amazing looks, massage seats!! Cmon this thing has everything and is sporty! I think it would take a panamera turbo or s63 to get me out of this car

G80 sport is in making. it will have more than 400bhp
@RaitisRides3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah!
@Cgee33 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling this engine is making 400hp. A simple tune would bump the power up plenty. I’m sure they are hardly putting much boost to the 3.5 just like the 3.3 in the Stinger.
@shanebluesky74523 жыл бұрын
@@Cgee3 could be they also want mileage and reliability. That's why they don't push it to the max. And the new engine will be same this v6 but retuned for 400bhp.

Excellent review as always and I always look forward to up and coming reviews. The exterior colour is stunning along with the blue interior. Whomever thought brown accents would be a good combination obviously left their Labrador behind. I can see a bit of Art Décor styling with this car so in that sense, the steering wheel fits in otherwise it is a bit ordinary. Hyundai have done a great job with the Genesis and along with Kia's Stinger, they are going to dent the German brands domination of sport and luxury cars in those segments when value for money is considered.

All I hear still hear today at high end dealerships is that it’s still a Hyundai. But is it? I’m leaning NO
