Not sure where you're with the pricing configuration, but I priced out a nice 2020 Chevy Corvette convertible, and it wasn't anywhere north of 90k. And I think I opted for the 3LT.

The mustang base model gt500 costs 70k and beat the handling package more expensive handling package c8 around me the road course and every other test. They didn't use the the base 70 75k handling pack gt500 and they had or the way better way more expensive carbon fiber track pack out that day against the c8 handling package with the magna ride and aero But They had the base base base 65k gt500 beat a 80+ thousand handling package c8 with the magnaride and aero so the actual handling versions of the gt500 may be the better versions of the new Vette at a better value like they have showed already. The wing on the c8 does nothing they can't add down Force to the back of the c8 Chevy says because all the weights in the back and more down Force in the back would just throw the balance and front handling off. They told speed phenom that none of the wings were helping the car. And he ordered one and was really mad when the c8 designer told him it made no difference with the more expensive better wings

@Naught Guile From a performance perspective the base model easily competes with cars that are double or triple in price. It's all about brand perception (keyword here), because it's not built by a luxury brand Corvettes can only be priced so high but it doesnt mean its inferior to more expensive sports cars. The C8 has exotic super car styling, super car performance, and from what I've seen above average fit and finish. But because it's a Chevy it can't be priced too high due to people's perception of the brand.

The cheapest mid engine sports car with that much performance is a base no options 911 at 97k A base model 2019 Ferrari 488 is 256k A 570s is 195k A lambo is 260k and up.... Seriously 100k won't get you anything mid engined from Europe.

@@unkulwilly Doubt either company will be doing any FI on the new C8. It can't be tuned. The E99 ECU has one of the toughest security features in the world. VIN Specific recognition, constant rolling codes and OnStar remote alerts that will lock out a driver if the ECU is tampered with. Good luck!

remember when the R35 GTR's came out, and simply swapping the wheels prevented the engine from starting because of the sensors being inside the oem wheels? that's been successfully bypassed.

One can spec out a very nice 2LT with all the electronics, NAV, etc. With Z51, Mag ride, colored calipers, and a few more bling items for under $74K. A GT spec 2LT, no Z51, just comfort options for under $69K.

I have built all the colors, models and options on visualizer, with model price codes. Just have to go down the stock list code and add them to the PDF after saving file. Works just fine. Just different than what you are showing here. Price is still available with all of the coded options. Fun stuff, thank you.

Ordered mines - Red Option 2 package Z51 package Magnet ride control Hi spoiler If I get the front raised lift ? The magnet ride will loose the change we can do to the front shocks , and only control the rear shocks, so we are getting 1/2 the suspension sys for the mag ride option, still full magnetic suspension, but we can’t control the height or ride for the front due to the lift suspension option, so keep in mind here do we need the lift height ? That is why we have the option 2 package so we have front parking and cameras for the front, Yes as a corvette owner, I damaged my front end countless of time even though I am a good driver and I know how to ride the bumps and look out from them, we still hit hard a few times a month (as a daily driver) so I am on the fence to get the lift height with 1k memory’s to lift up automatically when we don’t know when to expect it at night, the GPS sys takes over and helps us, But over all mines came up to 94.500 give it take, plus ttl with no market price upgrade from the dealership , Gm is also pissed at the dealers who is up charging over M.S.R.P invoice And was told these guys needed to be reported to gm, this is there multi million car with waiting time like nothing els, and made a set price for there true costumers and loyal and now new costumers here, and don’t want a price lift over msrp, But over all good video and good looking out to show the new owners what to look for, On a personal note - not only does the z51 say it is only 5hp faster for the exhaust sys, u forgot to mention the rear axle is a little bit higher , thus making it faster on the line but slower on the freeway if a stingray (stock) was to race it, the sting ray (stock) will take the z51 after about 90 ish mph give it take, Again great video!

Yes... Many don't notice that the "Net Price" DOES include the "Dealer Delivery Charge" ... so you only have to add Taxes and Registration and such.

The C8 is outstanding value for money. But I'd spec the base out a bit, similar to your spec but different colors and maybe the high wing. Key options for me would be: 2LT, Z51 package, magnetic ride adaptive suspension, front-axle lift.

I have never been a corvette fan but they really did a nice job on this most recent z06, zr1 and especially the c8. Even a fully spec’d out c8 in perspective of its competition is still a value. Plus for the 85k. It might not have everything you want. I’m sure it has all the performance items included that matter. For 85k. That’s still a mega value. These days for 100k some cars are price overblown like a mustang etc. the gtr which used to be a serious value is now starting at over $113k for 566 hp. A track edition is 145k and a Nismo is now an insane 210. What I would like to see is the new zr1 for 123k vs a c8. If you take a base c8 and add 25-50k in tuner upgrades your going to be better off than the fully lopsided z51 model. U can pocket some and then add even more performance.

General Motors announcement last month - When they sell the stock c8 with only factory options they sell at 59.999 they will loose money - they will make money on every car sold for over 80k plus, this was said by one of the team leaders in corvette company , when asked why they would loose money here? They said they want all loyal owners to know they are backing them up for the first time in corvette history for the money ! But here’s the deal , only 3%,is buying a fully stock c8 vette, as every single car is ordered by paper or computer , not 1 car is gonna be sold by the factory to build and sell, this 2020 vette is selling by only options that we order or by the dealership they ordered, Spoke with a few dealerships managers here in houston Tx, they said only a few c8’s ordered was in red and white at 60k plus 5k over sticker value, getting some first time buyers in the go with a low credit score to just sell them, Smart? Yes sir it is ,

GM took a play out of Porsche's playbook, which isn't a bad thing. Basically, EVERYTHING is an option, so they can get the profits they need from most buyers, however for those that want a stripped track car or a base for a tuner - they have an option as well.

The 1 Lt lacks things that I want these days. As a youth, I'd have spec'd a 1 LT just like you did it in Blade Silver Metallic. I'd have gotten after market shocks way down the road. Eventually, I'd have opted for an X-pipe exhaust and that would have been it. As it is, FTD look at your total views. Interesting video, as I said and welll done.

I build and am waiting on my fully loaded C8 3LT Z51 fully loaded and will definitely be over 100K but for me I’m not buying as an investment because I’m buying it to drive it on road trips. Even added the 2700 trident wheels with jake logo. But to each their own on what they want and want the ride to be. Honestly with the aftermarket exhaust and parts then you’re better off buying a base C8. I ended up with the two roofs one body color one carbon fiber just because I bought all I wanted.

The z51 is faster because of better consumable options like brake pads and tires, the better tires is why it has a substantially better 0-60, although you could easily add that on afterwards since it’s just tires

If you want a Corvette Stingray, you just get the Z51 package, all the other options are just dead weight. If you are going to drop 80 to 90k, then wait for the Z06. Any trick parts you want will be available in the aftermarket better and cheaper than what you can get from GM.

It doesn’t have to be faster, it’s personalizing the car to ones specific options. There will be buyers getting a plain one, the most expensive one and lots getting cars in between. Having had a Corvette the magnetic ride is definitely an option I need to have, regardless of the price. 60K is nothing for a premium sports car. Have you seen the price for the Mustang GT500? I wouldn’t need to race one a track, it would be my daily driver. Don’t need spoilers and wings, because it’s the visual and the comfort options that are more important. To each his own. They’ll have more sales because each order will be more personable. Which is smart.

I’d like to see what the 0-60 is without the Z51, because to get to the 2.8 it’s not “just 5hp.” It’s quicker gearing, electronic limited slip, summer tires. Can you even get the launch control, without Z51? So, it’s not as simple as “it’s just 5hp, and the base model will likely still go 0-60, in under 3 seconds.” 🤷🏻♂️

The issue is GM announced the C8 as the Sub $60,000 new midengine Corvette. After release delays the pricing for the type of C8 that dealerships will stock will likely be above $70,000. If you're purchasing a C8. I don't think at least personally. I want a base car. I want Technology, upgraded interior, rims, magna ride with Z51 package. It becomes closer to a $100,000 car if you get hung up checking the option boxes. Far from what many were thinking about spending because of the base price GM announced. I love the C8 and my current C5 Convertible and I don't want to use the term bate and switch, but the sub $60,000 price was the hot button. I just can't see buying a C8 without the options I want. Especially with some of the deals currently Available on the C7. My dealership mentioned that they would likely avoid ordering the base C8 for inventory and to look for an MSRP starting around $75,000 including destination fee. I'm just not happy how GM introduced this car at a price that most will not order or likely find on Chevy dealer lots. Is it worth the higher price. Yes, if your budget allows. A payment for $60,000 is large, but add an additional $40,000 and depending on your down payment. Your payment using a 10% down payment falls around $1300.00 per month. Personally, it's created more thought especially now with the volatile stock market. Something to sleep on. Thanks for all the great C8 information.

Bigger brakes means more weight and you would have to really push the car on a track to realize the full potential of even the stock suspension. I would start vanilla and mod it my own way.

The BASIC C8 is what many 'Racers' and Track Club buyers will get -- withOUT Z51 or Mag 4.0 -- because those suspensions are not "manually adjustable" AND because all those 'parts' add weight to the car! Sensors and servo's and ECU's are all 'complications' and more 'things that can go wrong'... They can Add a Wing, and ground effects later -- either Factory or after-market -- and even change the final Drive Ratio to what comes with the Z51, or even an after-market set , as those items become available. And, of course, they will permanently 'open up' the exhaust...

If I was to track the car often, I would not get any CF options. The carbon flash would be good enough. However, if I was going for looks, I would get the CF option and show it off at car shows. So save your money if you plan on tracking your car and nix the CF option.

If it performs at the level of a 300k supercar and you want it fully optioned then yes it would be worth it. I doubt many are optioning them up to $110k though. That's why the 5 people I follow who have advertised their spec are in the sub 90k range.

I didn’t add anything except z51 package on my c8. It’s gonna depreciate crazy if you add too many exterior and interior packages.

Very good video. Can almost buy 2 base models for the same price as the maxed out upgrade model you demo’d. Chevy is smart as the temptation to upgrade is really strong, at least so it seems to me.

I'd be completely content with the base C8. Curb appeal is mostly the same and the performance is more than enough for me. Most I'd ever do is accelerate from 55mph to 100mph on the freeway in short bursts, no sense in getting a fully spec'd out version if I'm not a race track enthusiast.

The more stuff you add to your C8 the more weight. 490 hp base vs 495 hp Z51 exhaust or Z51 option power to weight is negligible and 490 with the standard rear end will go 194 mph! If you never go to the track you won’t beleave the Z51 won’t go 194!

I am so glad you pointed this out. I realized it the second they released the base pricing on the car. Chevrolet are gaming the auto motive world and its going to be even worse with spec'd out Z06s and ZR1s. Audi is especially bad about doing this with options like simple color matching interior bits costing thousands of dollars.

For 110k to have a mid engine exotic brand new corvette, it speaks for itself. Yes it’s worth it. I have a conundrum of sorts do I sale my 05 with 35k miles with TSP cam, headers, midpipe. Polished ported heads. Or buy the new c8

You mean; like a four valve per cylinder, double over head cam, flat crank 8500 RPM screamer, just like the Ford GT350, Ferrari, Maserati and all other exotics already have. What would be the point, when the base model C8 will do 0-60 MPH in + - 3 seconds and top out at 194 MPH! What, are you in a hurry!

You should either get the base ca for 60 Grand or get the ZR1 for closer to 200,000 have you spent a hundred and ten thousand for a couple upgrades on seats and things like that that don't make you any faster you're wasting money

I have an order for a 3LT nicely equipped, front lift, exhaust, interior, wheels etc. (not Z51) for 76K MSRP. Saw a Supra MSRP for 74K.

There is no reason to add carbon fiber "bits" to the corvette if your intention is to make it a track beast. Those carbon fiber parts are window dressing.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the base wheels to be better looking than the higher priced "snowflake" wheels.

Yes, heavily spec’d out it gets pricy but new cars in general are very expensive. Price out a well equipped Suburban and see what the bottom line is. How about a 4 series BMW? They are all expensive. Good news is you don’t have to buy one. The fact as they have sold out their unbuilt stock tells me that they might be under priced. Let’s see how price/availability looks in a year. If they are sitting on dealer lots or still on back order will say a lot about the pricing.

No. Paying 25 to 75K over MSRP for a vehicle with less performance is not an option for me. Its why I got a 2022 Camaro ZL1 1LE instead. More value than a C8 imo.

Never silver. I hate silver. Too common. Shadow Grey Metallic. Zeus Bronze is pretty cool as well. And, just Google 'Corvette Configurator' to find if Chevy's website is confusing.
