It took me exactly 10 minutes and 19 seconds to realise his helmet is Homer Simpson...

The camera set up and position was perfect.. I felt like I was in the car. I could feel it sliding and sticking. I could feel the power. I felt like I was drifting in it. Great. I could feel the ride and suspension.

I think Matt has been spoiled too much from driving a lot of half million dollar exotic sports cars. The C8 corvette is a $60,000 dollar car. It's not supposed to have highest of quality interior materials like a Ferrari, it's supposed to have some cheap plastic here and there. That helps to keep the price point to a obtainable level for the target customer base. The Corvette is a mase production sports car. Matt said the Corvette has slight understeer. GM purposely gave the base corvette understeer to make it more manageable and safe to drive because the average buyer of a Corvette is not a professional race car driver and is not going to take it on the track, it will most likely be used as a daily driver vehicle. With a mid engine set up and no understeer one could easily loose control of the car and crash into a tree, that's a potential liability for GM. The Corvette is and has always been the American alternative to a Ferrari. It is the Ferrari that is obtainable to the average working man and there is nothing wrong with that. Just appreciate the fact that there is a Corvette, and enjoy it for what it is.

This car can literally make or break Chevrolet, they took a huge risk on the affordable pricing, and when they launched it. In order for them to survive they really need to attract a target market of younger men, that are unable to afford the previous price range of a Corvette. I think you are very aware of this, and I respect how you have been careful, and disciplined with your choice of words. Thanks for being a REAL car enthusiast!!

I can see how the luster might wear off for a reviewer who drives so many different cars. For the person who orders this C8, either a current Corvette fan or a new recruit, I don’t think that luster will be going away anytime soon after delivery.

I’m kind of glad it’s just a “corvette”. I’m happy they chose cheap materials for the C touch points and built a car folks can still afford. I’m curious about a non mag ride z51 lt1. It’s not 60k but for less than 70 you get just the performance options.

I've never seen Matt this excited driving a vehicle, looks like a knock out car.

Excellent excellent insights and review of the c8 z51...thank you for your fine efforts and enjoyed the track review and the reflection portion of the video...honest and insightful reflection portion impressed me as much as the giddy track portion and Im a 20 year corvette enthusiast with this new c8 z51 on being my fourth daily driven corvette covering a quarter of million corvette miles, I enjoyed seeing Finn the cat make an entrance into the video too...;)

Matt does a great job describing both the technical and emotional aspects of driving this car. Nice video! I wouldn’t lose sleep over the 6800 RPM redline b/c the LT-1’s awesome torque allows you to “plant” the rear car in a higher gear through high-speed turns on the track. Can’t wait to add onto my garage, as I can’t trade in my beloved C7 but I gotta have one of these, too!

For the interior refinement, etc., you have to remember you are driving an $80,000 car and not a $200,000 car... The Corvette has Always been, a 'Super Car" for the People... not just the Elites ... If I am doing 1:30 laps around Road Atlanta, I don't give a flip if the lower dash panels are plastic! I don't say this to disagree with your preview... I think you have done an excellent report -- and GLAD you were able to Get this EARLY opportunity! But I have owned Corvettes in the past, and just enjoyed the HECK out of chasing down the "Elites" in the North GA Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains, driving their Very Expensive 'Exotics', with my "cheap American Hot Rod"... Good tires, a few suspension tweaks, and a bit more than stock HP and I was crawling all over those guys. Like Carroll Shelby beating Ferrari... who cared how 'deluxe' the Cobra interior was..? LOL !! But, yes, my Brother has one on order... 2LT with Z51 & Mag 4.0 ... and 'everyday driving' will actually be how he spends MOST of his time behind the wheel. And after "the New wears off" comfort and 'details' will matter much more than at 'First Love'...

I love the driver focused controls orientation, yes give everything to me. When you bought a corvette you we're only thinking about yourself, I love that the engineers and designers took that philosophy and ran with it.

Dude, this is the first year of a fully new model with a lot of new tech. Surely there will be tweaks and refinement on future models. I wouldn’t judge too harshly at this point. This is a huge step forward. The mea culpa’s at the end of your video didn’t take away from the visceral outbursts from your track day. This car is a touch point for GM and a great launching point for the future.

Fabulous ,fabulous ,fabulous video! I have been looking for something that gave me the Visceral experience of driving the C8 corvette(or any car for that matter) and you really nailed it!!!. Not any easy accomplishment. Made me glad I had ordered a mid trim level maximum performance level Elkhart blue c8 still less then 75k. I am not sure in city driving any car can make anyone giddy. I think the visceral experience would be even greater with a manual transmission. We drove a c6 grand sport and the c6 zo6 shouldn't have been that big a difference but it didnt even seem like the same manufacturer. Your video was better then great . Thank you very much. I am now a subscriber.

The new C8 Corvette is absolutely beautiful, I never thought id support a mid engined vette, but I love the new design.

As if any of us expected the venerable "plastic fantastic" to not have any cheap plastic. The corvette charm is in the cost savings where it doesn't matter.
