Nice! I think one factor in choices also comes down to “the look” you are trying to achieve... aesthetics. I am assuming Craig also chose the TNTs because he’s wanting to match/create a color scheme on the Dogtown. SE only makes 4 colors. Furthermore some might not want a SE logo on their non-SE bike. Thanks.

Great point. If a $50 part makes you ride your bike more, I’ll drive you to the shop myself. Case in point: I’m currently riding 9inch flatland bars I had in 1988 on my PK.Ripper because I love the feel... but they’re ugly as sin. Just enjoy your bike. I’ll definitely order more JW BMX chain tensioners because they’re easy to tune and that’s worth $50🤘

@@BigBikeBMX I dont like how the TNT tensioners stepped wedge doesnt fit into the axle slot flush. The JW slipped right into the axle slot allowing it to sit flush and square with the dropout ends.

I love these chain tensioner! JW is the best, I also have their stem 🖤🖤🖤. Best thing about these chain tensioner is the marking for measurements and how it hides the adjustment screw. Oh one more thing, it’s made in USA 😬🇺🇸

The JW tensions thinner wedge in the back is better for cromo frames that are thinner than aluminum frames drop outs. I tried the SE ones on my Skyway TA 24” but they were too wide so I guess I need the JW ones. Thanks for the video

The JW tensioners. are hands down the nicest I’ve used. Way better than the cheap ones and even the Bullseye Cigar cutter tensioners.

Those markings definitely look like they make the install easier. The SE’s weren’t hard but these look way easier. I love chain tensioners but as to which is better? Personal preference for sure. Use what works for you and what makes you happy! Thanks for showing what these do!

Hey Craig, I’m assuming it says Drive side on the one just so their logo isn’t upside down. Lol I hate when I see SE ones upside down because it’s in the wrong side 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hey Craig, I recently changed my freewheel to a 20T white ind, before that i was running a 19T with maxxis hookworms in the back with barely any clearance but it still rode. Now that i switched the freewheel i get no more clearance for it to run, will increasing a chain link help with the clearance? Thanks.

Never knew they were practical “on the go”. I just thought they were an easier way to adjust as you go. I set mine manually, and it came in at about one inch of movement on the top side of the chain. This was the same as when I got it from the store. I had to fuss with it because the tire came uncentered (or was never entered). I notice you got your chain much tighter. If that is the way to go for wheelies, I may have to invest in a pair. Unfortunately the only ones I can source locally are SE branded, and I have an intense dislike for other brands logo’s on my bike if they don’t match.

Hi there, just watched your video because I'm looking to replace a chain tensioner... yep... nice video by the way. About the "drive side", Isn't just to differentiate the 2 sides if you'd take them off the bike and the adjustment was not the same on each side? That's my 2 cents... Cheers!

While riding my SE SoCal Flyer I hear a clicking noise on every pedal stroke could that be a stiff link or is it due to a problem with the cassette?

@@BigBikeBMX I don't have chain tensioners on it yet but I do have a new set of SE CT's for it. It only happens when I pedal but not when I turn them with the bike upside down on the seat and bars so I doubt it would happen on a proper work stand. A couple dudes said it might be a loose bottom bracket.

JW have a "drive" side because the logo would be upside down if they were reversed. The JW are also made in the U.S.A. which is why they are the most expensive. I don't know where the TNTs are made but they are in the middle because they come with an adaptor for Juniors or minis. They also have more detail than the SE. The SE tensioners are cheap aluminum from Southeast Asia with no adaptor, hence why they are the worst. Long story short, SE DEAD!
