Oh you have to hook thatt Jensen back up and run it 2 ohm mono. I had two different Jensen 50x2s back in the early 90s one was the gray/silver one ad one was the blue one. I ran both of those at two ohm bridged when do a set of pyles and the other on a pair of 12" cerwin Vega's. OMG that little Escort bumped so hard on those cv's. Spend both of those amps that way for quite a while and never had a problem. They did get reeeeaaaallllly hot though! I just want to see what it would do.

Yeah boy I bought my first (and last) brand new car in '98 and put a Jensen bandpass box in it I believe they were called G.R.I.P. subs. I bumped them hard for 4 or 5 years on a Jensen 75x2 amp. I have built many systems in my vehicles over the years and that cheap ass BestBuy Jensen setup was far from the worst. I am glad to see Jensen has stayed true to affordable gear rated accurately.

I'm old..years ago Jensen was the better gear available in my small city in Massachusetts..was in 70's. And we never heard of changing out stock tunes before..nice crisp paper cone speakers were the norm..pre blown from the factory 🏭 😳..or so it seemed as no one had clean sound in the car..till I met 1 guy with windows down and I followed him to learn how that sounded good! I Told my buddy, he had more cash then me! Buddy put 6x9 Jensen 3way with eq amp..like 50 bucks for the pair.. and holy shit! Compared to stock radio suddenly this trans am was audiophile dream!.was so loud! But I'm listening and trying to figure out why it seemed that sounds missing certain things in the song .then we realized that we had only left speaker connection completed hadn't put wire on the right side speaker yet..the joys of 🍺 & weed! The next week he got KLH 3 ways and new head unit..THAT really kicked it up.

Yes but like other big names still showing what they are today and yesteryear are hardly a resemblance of one another! ;-) As for the 600W, if they printed 300W it would be correct as it was revealed the amp is capable of 300W dynamic power output. Which in a nutshell is a meaningless spec. ;-)

@@cpufrost The amp dyno dynamic test is still an RMS (root mean squared) value, which inherently is an average. There is also a measurement of PMPO, which is certainly not a meaningless spec as an amplifier can have huge instantaneous power and low RMS power, which generally related to the power supply section being able to sustain the necessary voltage over some given duration. At the end of the day, RMS is kind of universally understood but the PMPO numbers which I'm sure are realistic in most cases (2x - 3x the RMS) are the more attractive ones that sell.

Awesome! Thank you! It just goes to show that you can't judge an amplifier's output based on the fuse on the side. According to the "rule of thumb" that amplifier should only be able to put out 250 Watts. There's no doubt it's efficiency helped a lot with that.
@91CavGT53 жыл бұрын
An amp’s fuse size multiplied by 10 will still get you in the ball park so it is still a good way to judge amps. As amps get more efficient with technology increases then we might have to change that.
@Carl_Jr3 жыл бұрын
@@91CavGT5 I know. I get just tired of arguing with people all of the time that see these videos and say "There's no way that amplifier makes XXX watts. The fuse is only XXX amps." That's all. @JosephArata3 жыл бұрын
Most R/L channels are little bit off on most amps, just nature of the beast, gets worse with higher outputs. This amp seems pretty solid for a really compact deal. You could protentially use 2 of these on a stereo board for a Shop radio or whatever with a cheapish bluetooth only HU. Would sound better than any of the pre-made stereo junk they have out on the market today.

Yet another great video Big D!! A huge thumbs up for the zoomed in display on the amp dump. For those of us that watch on our phones it makes it a LOT easier to see. Hmm, I might get 2 of these for my shed audio system. One for miss/highs and the other for a single small sub. I wonder if power output at 1khz is about the same as 40hz? Hmmm......

Thanks for the feedback. I for some reason forgot to show the Dyno sheet (Big Dummy). I did some 1kHz tests and although the power was more it was not enough percentage wise to make a big difference

Here a few years later! After I saw this I just had to get one to play with. I absolutely love this little amp. It’s put together nicely and never lets me down. I ended up putting it in the back of my RX7 when I imported it, it fits perfectly in the bottom of the vertical spare tire well. I have it driving a Bose ported box out of a 370z or something, with two little 2ohm neo drivers. It’s perfect. Super efficient. I love it and so do the others that have heard it. My hatch drains have clogged twice, and soaked the amp. I’ve pulled it and dried it twice, and it still trucks on. Completely discreet and super lightweight.

Wow, Jensen staying with the times. I've never really preferred Jensen speakers, stereos, or amps, but they've never given me any particular issues and always performed as advertised. Like I always say, it's hard to argue with results. This would be a really nice amp to buy on a budget and bridge it down to power a single 10 or even a low power 12 for those who are just looking for some slight bump or more depth to their particular style of music. Good on ya Jensen!

@@damianlindsey6177 Nothing wrong with budget amps, just keep in mind most times you get what you pay for. Boss Audio is a good example, their amps actually aren't terrible and do good wattage for their price points, however they are way overrated for what they actually do. I would stay away from Boss Audio speakers though, not only are they overrated but they actually are pretty terrible quality, I had several and they all either blew or seized up after little use (on only head unit power.), they sounded pretty tinny as well.

Hey Derek - Your work is great but is there a chance you can do a video explaining what things mean in layman terms? Like clipping, dynamic burst, the abbreviations and numbers on the dyno. Sure we can Google it but sometimes it's best hearing and seeing...like a kids book with pictures 😉 It might help newbies to car audio and people like me who lost touch but trying to get back into it. Thanks mate!
