The question you asked wasn’t answered. You didn’t compare a 60w light to a 300 or 600w, you compared it against a 5w. The video should’ve been called “is a 5w light bright enough?”

He compared it to the Small rig 220watt light. He swapped out his talking head set-up at the 3:30 second point in the video

I just bought this light! I am beginning to get into photography and videos, but also moved states! I currently fly back to my old state to shoot for a small business that I worked at before I left, but needed something powerful and compact to travel with! So far, I love it.

If you're not moving around a lot needing the portability but want nicer lighting do you go for a brighter COB light for a studio? Mainly for talking head and product shots.

The mini Cobb lights are great for small subjects like rings or small product photography, or for adding colour to the background or product (like sitting a clear glass bottle on-top of a panel light). For larger subjects they easily become underpowered though

That smallrig 60W light looks like a great unit, but maybe more for video with the constant light feature. For photos, I love the versatility of a good speedlite also at about 60W

I personally think it's super bright for it's size. When you add the reflector and a V mount battery it works great to mimic sunlight coming through a window

Excellent presentation. Very useful. I was thinking to buy 2 of those smallrig rc 60b lights as i am a weddinh photographer. You think it will be enough power light puting them in 2,5 m tripods height and in a distance about 4 meters from the couple?

could this light be used as sunlight through a window? or is it not that strong? sorry I'm new with lighting so I don't know much.. going to buy my first light soon and this looks great so far compared to others.

I noticed you aren't using the light dome (in some or most). Is it too narrow for an umbrella range? any wider options so you dont waste or bleed out unused light?

Would you not recommend this light for competing with daylight/ I noticed you didn't do any daylight shots. I'm looking for something to be used as a fill/key when shooting in full sun. I use a run of the mill neweer panel light. Probably around $100. Love that, but not powerful enough.

I'm noticing more and more videos are getting sharper and sharper. Bout time yall started using the sharpness more lol. Lighting helps too with the specular but i can see some +3 to 5 up on the sharpness. Looks amazing! I got some enegon lights and although around 14watts of power, these suckers product great lighting even at 1%. I use them for splash and fill and sometimes hair lights

Cool video. Do you have a preference of constant light vs. strobe or flash? I use a great of flash but often considering constant and actually one of these lights or something like it. Do you have any insight? Also keep the great content coming!
@AnthonyGugliotta
@AnthonyGugliotta 6 ай бұрын
I think both can work together! ie) You can use constant lights to provide a base level of fill, or to add an accent where needed. The reason I don't rely on strobes is that most of the time I'm shooting photo and video at the same time. I'd be down to do a series about flash though!

@@AnthonyGugliotta Good insight. Yeah I think people would find that an interesting topic. I assist in teaching a college photo lighting course and that question or topic comes up often. They each have their use case and video highlighting that could be really cool. Thanks for answering. Super cool.

These lights are really good on paper, however, after a couple of years of use, the internal lithium ion battery would degrade and there goes the light in the landfill. IMO, I feel that Zhiyun Molus is much better for this, super small, lighter and can be powered with powerbank. Should hopefully last longer than this light for sure.

Wouldn’t a 60W, 11 inch pancake light be comparable? (Such as Genaray Mini Moon). I mean, the soft box on your light is also 11 inches and more bulky (than a pancake light). Of course you can’t get a harsh light with a pancake light

I have a couple of those small Nanlite tubes, which are similar to that small RGB light you have, except it's shaped like a tube. Great for product photography, but it's definitely meant to be used as a complimentary light, rather than a primary.

I'm no expert but doesn't the wattage refer to the power draw not the brightness? Like there are dozens of 60 watt lights on the market that are all much different in terms of lux output
@AnthonyGugliotta
@AnthonyGugliotta 6 ай бұрын
The important spec here is "luminous efficacy". There is a direct relationship between wattage and brightness, meaning more wattage generally produces more light output... but of course every light, and every brand will be slightly different in terms of how well it coverts wattage into actual measured light output. Generally speaking most lights with the same wattage rating will be around a similar brightness level.

@@mr.spaceshiptechno I would say it's not enough. Consider 200 o 300w. When you want things in focus or want to capture a splash or something like that you are working at f8-f11 and higher speeds. Also if you want to soften light multiple times you will loose lights stops.
