💡UPDATE regarding the Smallrig lightstand mount: Smallrig have communicated that the light that was sent out to me was part of a test sample. After Smallrig became aware of the issue with the lightstand mount they immediately changed the manufacturer and solved the quality problem.

I have the Nanlight 60B and I love them. I helped a larger US TV team this weekend and they borrowed my 2 lights and the softbox and they loved them.

My smallrig arrived, very disappointed, the fan is noisy at every model. It isn't temperature/power adjusted like modern pcs and laptops, but runs at full speed even when light intensity is set to 1% It also got a high-pitched constant whining sound similar to bearing noise which is very irritating, by contrast, my desktop running at 400w while gaming is more pleasant to listen to. For me, this single issue is enough to offset everything else it offers. Smallrig put so much resources into marketing yet overlooked such an important aspect of user experience.

The Amaran COB 60X is also a very good 60 watts bi-color alternative.

My nanlite forza 60b ii just came, but it doesnt work on battery mode, im only using 1 battery does is need 2 npf to work ?

2:07 Splitting hairs but the Nanlite has it's stand attachment and the SmallRig doesn't for the weight comparison. 🤓

Good point! That would cut off a few grams 😄 The Nanlite does come with this part attached and you typically wouldn't remove it (but you could if you want to).

It seems to me that the internal battery and the smaller size gives the ‘win’ to the SmallRig. Just bring along a V-Mount battery that delivers USB-C PD and you have the spare power you need with the flexibility of using it with or without the external battery… NP-F batteries I find are completely replaced now by V-Mounts on my rigs.

I guess it's a personal thing for sure. But I have to say for quick solutions where I don't need the light very long, I will grab the Smallrig simply because it's quicker instead of setting up the Nanlite with batteries.
