I saw a kid driving his 2005-09 S197 V6 Mustang (not sure what year exactly) and no joke he had GT500 lower side stripes, Shelby trunk lettering, Cobra emblems and to top it off the faux Bullitt center gas cap. No body kit or ground effects or anything and it still had a single exhaust pipe sticking out the back.

The biggest difference, and an important one, is that the grand national was a high performance version of a plain-jane car. Half of the legacy is that it was a sinister sleeper from the factory. Given that the v6 mustang ( and camaro, and challenger) are cars where a much higher performance version is available, they don’t have a sleeper effect. Its a platform built for more power, rather than a platform built for far less. Thats not to rag on boosted v6’s, but rather to say the comparison doesn’t work for me.
@PeterGriffin-kb2hf
@PeterGriffin-kb2hf Жыл бұрын
The true modern grand national is the 3800 w-body. Same base engine thats modernized and some come factory supercharged so the engine can handle a turbo well. Some people build them and theyre great sleepers.

The 3.7 was a great V6. The problem is that by the time Ford got around to making it, it was too little too late. The V6 was already shadowed and stigmatized by the bad reputation of the 3.8 and 4.0 motors. As an owner of a procharged 3.8 Id love to try the 3.7 boosted. The Ford 3.8, though a shit motor, was a better copy of the Buick design.

okay short throw shifters are cool but nothing is as satisfying as a medium hard pull in a car with a long shift throw. hearing everything at higher revs then nothing for what actually feels like a really long time then more engine is the best sound i’ve ever heard. doesn’t matter the car.

I had purchased an 05 4L after rolling an 89 5.0 hatch. I purchased it because I was young and my parents were scared of me having the GT after rolling my last car. (Little back story; I rolled the car after pulling it out of storage and the next day it was freezing rain) back to the point I still have that car and had alot of fun with it when it was new. I've never had to do anything major mechanically and believe it or not it was faster then my my fox 5.0 and some of the stock fox 5.0s on the street due to mostly their power loss in age. I am fixing up that car and preping it for a shelby power train swap but that 4L treated me good even though I still beat the shit out of it.

Im getting a v6 for a few reasons mostly because im only 19 and insurance would hang me out to dry for owning a v6, i plan on driving this car daily, and i am a little worried about having gas money on hand for a v8 but not a v6. I mean someday i do plan on upgrading to a v8 maybe in my late 20s but for now a v6 will be more than good enough especially with aftermarket items

I had one just like this except it was a Premium and it was absolutely fantastic. Just enough power to hoon and the engine sounds great when you rev it out. Cheap to buy and cheap to mod too. I did Air raid intake, MBR Exhaust, MPT Tune, and Steeda springs all for like $1500. The problem isn't that the cyclone cars are bad, it's that the GT is just better in every way. And these days an S197 GT is really not that much more than a 3.7. If I had some extra cash I'd pick up an early S550 3.7 to hoon on backroads and a '19 GT to actually build. One thing is for certain though, no one should buy an Ecoboost Mustang under any circumstances.
