I was there last Friday. We did the Behind the Scenes tour. It was well worth it. As a retired carpenter/ builder I was fascinated.

A lot of Jefferson's lived in the house when he retired. It most have been full of activities and guests.

I've been told that when you visit there the tour guides are actually disrespectful of him because he owned slaves that they make light of his accomplishments...pretty much most well to do folks in the 1700s of the US owned slaves...even some freed slaves...I hope this is not true...

Washington and Jefferson slaves were treated with respect. Not good to be a slave of our "Native American" tribes.
