We finally got the chance to head down to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville VA. I had been wanting to go for a few years now. Mostly to see the beautiful gardens. But the trip surprised me and was educational. History buffs definitely need to check this place out!

We. My exwife toured Monticello and loved the Landscape, House, And the. Large shelves of books He was not only a Statesman, Lawyer, land scaper , Architect, but a Scholar. We also loved eating. At Mickey's Grill below.the Estate. May God Bless his soul and others connected with Estate in his time frame.

Monticello, like Mount Vernon, is a presidential residence that has been so carefully restored and preserved that when walking through the house, one is left with the impression that its owner has just stepped away and will be returning soon. I was last there in 2007, and it looks like they have added several outbuildings since then. They have also opened the South Pavilion, which was the first permanent structure Jefferson built, and where he took his new bride (in a torrential storm) shortly after they were married. Nice video with wonderfully appropriate music. Thanks.

I was especially amused at Jefferson's seven day clock that continued down onto the basement wall, as well as the automatic double doors and the dumbwaiter. The tour confirmed that Thomas Jefferson is my second favorite creative genius from the American colonies.

Coin collectors have always graded nickels based on the number of steps visible below the portico of Monticello on the reverse. By taking a tour of Monticello I was able to verify how many steps there are supposed to be. I think there was a 1950's cartoon of someone visiting Monticello and being surprised to see a big letter D to the right of the building.

@@NickandJulie one place we went every summer for about 10 yrs. on our family vacation ,bringing our 2 youngest girls was Cape May,NJ. It's home to 600 Victorian homes built just after the Civil War. We own a Princess Victorian home and I have a Painting bussiness so loads of ideas and packed with cool history. Ocean,architecture, history,tours, shopping,boardwalk etc. Something for everyone. To name of couple: It was the Summer White House (Congress Hall) to 6?Presidents prior to A.C.due to its Ocean breezes and birth to the Spiritualism . As a College graduation gift to our youngest our return has been delayed.Well get back But you simply must add it to your list,

Nice choice of music! Great video! Nice commentary. Im heading down from Ohio as well tomorrow towards Williamsburg and think I might check this out on the way there or back... I've been trying to go to as many presidential estates as possible. If you're all still around Ohio, head up to Fremont and check out Rutherford Hayes home. It's not quite as beautiful as Mount Vernon or what Monticello appears, but, it was a pretty nice one.
@NickandJulie

Thank you! Monticello was beautiful, hope you do make it out there. I will definitely add the Rutherford Hayes home to our list! Still trying to get to the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens sometime soon also here in OH- its not a president's house but its been called the Biltmore of OH and the garden is known worldwide. We have seen the Taft home in Cincinnati. I don't think that one is worth a trip there just for the home but we were in the area so we stopped by.

Time for another visit! I follow some accounts on Instagram that show old homes that need saving, and you can always find a comment under each one saying, "it looks haunted". Probably from the shows and horror movies people watch. I never watched those things and these places look like normal old homes to me. But again, I am a Christian so ghosts do not exist. I hope it doesn't turn people away from purchasing those beautiful old properties and restoring them. Have a good day!

@@NickandJulie Ghost dont exist to you but a magical man in the sky does...gotta love the logic
@NickandJulie
@NickandJulie 4 жыл бұрын
@@roseandstem8054 you better believe it! ;) the Bible does not mention any stage of human existence as ghosts that stay on this earth. I do think that demons can take advantage of people who are hurting or that recently lost a loved one and appear to those people maybe in the form of what we know as "ghosts". That is just my thought as I know of a Christian who lost a brother and the brother would appear to him. The Christian knew this was not from God or godly so he fasted and prayed and the brother stopped appearing to him. So it seemed it was a demon trying to take advantage of this man's grief and pain of losing his beloved brother. I'm glad he had discernment to recognize this from reading the Word. Some are not equipped and fall for it. I am saying all this in hopes you are not bigoted towards Christianity and we can have a discussion as this is a fascinating subject. It sounds like you may be by your wording though. "magical man in the sky" or "magical sky daddy" is what atheists use all the time. lol
@roseandstem8054
@roseandstem8054 4 жыл бұрын
@@NickandJulie I took one look at your response and avoided reading it as I'm sure you are trying to justify your silly logic. It's like House says "if you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people"
@NickandJulie
@NickandJulie 4 жыл бұрын
@@roseandstem8054 Of course you avoided reading it. You've made up your mind about it and there's absolutely no way you could possibly be wrong bc ScIeNcE. If Jesus himself would appear to you, you wouldn't believe anyway, you would ask for proof. Y'all need your proof. Therefore faith is a concept completely out of your understanding. As the very definition of it is strong belief based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. It's like David says, "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God.""

@@mrlove5161 Thank you Lamar. Yes we must always remember history especially the horrific parts to never repeat them again. I cannot imagine the strength it took to live through that. You're attacking a museum, a place of learning. No difference then a history text book with the same topic. Are you against history books too since you're against history museums? We all see you angry over slavery and you should be. But take that up with the ones who are guilty. But the guilty are dead. So now you attack the innocent museum who aren't guilty of slavery and do nothing but teach history. Good job at your virtue signaling
