Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov flies to India to try and work out an energy deal - is a new trading partner for Russia a possibility? Please subscribe HERE bit.ly/1rbfUog
After the US and China, India is the world's third-largest consumer of oil, over 80% of which is imported.
India has signed contracts for March and April to buy barrels of Russian oil at a discounted price.
The US has said that although these oil imports do not violate sanctions, any support for Russia will strengthen their ability to continue their invasion of Ukraine.

@@Mizo_channel9 It was because Pakistan is the closest to countries like Afghanistan and Iran, 2 countries that the west opposed 20-30 years ago, and still do. Without Pakistan supplying America's war in Afghanistan would have been obscenely more difficult, or not possible at all. But now I think that India should be the West's primary partner in the region to look towards nowadays considering Pakistan's closer relationship to China, and the fact that Pakistan has more than likely helped in transporting and harboring Osama Bin Laden, effectively backstabbing us. I hope that India and the United States can form a stronger relationship because an Indian reliance on Russia won't help the nation grow to its full potential, and we all know that India HATES China.

I know this is youtube, and it's probably not worth arguing with pinheads with little to no understanding of current events, or geopolitics. But the US and EU complaint regarding India vis-a-vis Russia has nothing to do with oil, but rather its intentions to set a Rouble-Rupee payment mechanism for bilateral trade, which would directly contradict international sanctions.

The India-Pakistan ongoing issue is a REALLY stupid thing over tribesmen invading a little place in Kashmir DECADES ago. BOTH countries are just too MACH and full of themselves to stop it. And the WEST is an ally to BOTH countries. The fact that you want EXCLUSIVITY as an Indian is just entitlement. Pakistan and India have a BORDER skirmish, but they don't INVADE each other and kill thousands of civilians with indiscriminate bombings either. No matter what YOU think. The fact of the matter is that the WORLD is condemning Russia on this. And if you want to be a world PARIAH, keep on acting like a self-entitled little person. It's a shame that Russia will get money to fund their war from India, but if it helps the Indian people, then the Indian government has every right to make a trade deal with Russia. I just hope that in the event of a conflict with the Chinese the Indians will be there to stick with the agreements that were decided upon in the Quad.

I want ask you: does it meet to Ukrainians interests to become a hostile bulwark against Russia? Ukraine was warned many times that such policy could lead to grave consequences and these warnings came not only from Russia. Read prof. Mearsheimeir, Stephen Cohen, George Kanan and many others who warned. Ukrainians were deceived by these stooges which were put on leadership! @@3D-Companions India can take comfort that both Russia/China need their support to some extent...though China/Russia together could basically defend themselves indefinitely, to expand their influence really at all they need more partners and India is a very good ally to have. There's no glossing over it, world politics is about influence and power at the end of the day...those who actually want power/influence and to hold on to it know its in their interest not to treat their people too badly so will not. Even Putin would know Russia can ultimately adapt to being almost cut off entirely from the west, the west can probably do without Russia also..but if China joins in, that's another matter and if India does too...then they can probably theoretically defeat the west outright if they were co-ordinated enough.

As an Indian, I fully support our govt's decision. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is a European matter and India has got nothing to do with it. While we are buying discounted oil from Russia, we are also seeing to it that the amount of oil purchased from Russia, which is only 1% of our total oil needs, doesn't really increase too much. The West must understand that the sanctions put on Russia have risen the global oil prices and common people in India are facing the brunt of it. We have 1.3 billion people to take care of so high oil prices don't really help. All that we're doing, we're doing it to help the common citizens of India. Buying oil from Russia doesn't mean that India or Indians support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We are just doing what any sensible country would do; that is, take care of its people. The West must also see to the fact that when the war was at its peak, Europe bought 15% more oil and gas from Russia so they don't really have a right to lecture India on what should it do and what shouldn't it do. Also, not to mention, all those naive Westerners who are just blabbering incessantly in the comment section that the US and its allies should sanction India, well, y'all are too naive. The US did try to sanction India during India's nuclear tests in 1998 but guess what?? It didn't do any damage to India. India, instead, performed better under the sanctions and improved its economy so if you people try to do the same thing again, well, you're free to try it anyday

India did have its independent foreign policy except now Russia and later China will be in charge, USA will make big profits from the shortage of fuel in Germany and 3 other countries involved, whatever the outcome the countries that received their gas from Russia, will now make plans to be self sufficient for the future they've already started now, the EU and the West whatever the outcome will never trust the Russians again, China relies on the West, There are plenty of other countries that can supply a shortfall from China, Russia and India will not be enough to support China in its current state, nothing has been agreed with China and Russia yet, But unlike India China is self sufficient, enough not to trust the Russians and be held to ransome, If China do buy gas and oil from Russia expect the Rupee to be worthless as if it already isn't right now, Bad decision by the Indian PM unfortunately at the end of the day the Indian people will suffer even more.

I see a kind of an "alliance of rock" forming in the central part of the world when you consider the central Asian republics also will likely join such an alliance out of necessity/desire. so you'll end up with US and allies (including my country Australia unfortunately) coming in from both sides but the solid rock in the middle of the world will force the west to waste lives/resources trying to impose western will (aka for propaganda purposes freedom/democracy) on them. While losses might be heavy on the "rock" side also, no easy way to say this..they have the numbers and therefore the strategic flexibility to sustain losses while being ultimately victorious. You can throw in Iran/Iraq also, Syria, bit of a long shot but maybe Turkey also...their position in NATO is probably a bit contentious and if they end up having to join sides, might take the Russia/China side.

The US under Nixon supported and defended Pakistan in the 1971 war where they committed a genocide against Bengalis and even raped 100’000’s of women in their military rape camps. This was the worst post WW2 genocide and had it not been for the USSR we would have been forced to withdraw and Pakistan would be free to do as it pleased. Even more recently the US has been too nonchalant about our continued concerns over decades of Islamic terrorists sponsored by Pakistan, especially in Kashmir. Just to keep their ‘ally’ during the Afghan War they turned a blind eye that it was literally a terror sponsoring state, what’s more they actively persecuted its Christin and Hindu minorities (who let’s be real, are Indian Christians and Hindus with the misfortune of being born on the wrong side of the border). All this in mind, why should we care for American concerns about our relationship with Russia? When did they ever care for our concerns? Whereas Russia has always proved itself to be a good and loyal friend to the people of India; we don’t agree with war, most of all when between family (Russians and Ukrainians are practically one people) but we will stand behind Russia nonetheless if anything out of a sense of historical obligation.

The reason why is because the United States is the product and continuation of Western European world power, the economy runs on the creation of technology, medicines, education and etc. Our stock markets and our world economy are skewed towards wealthier nations ability to develop poorer nations, in which wealthier nations often take advantage of trade relationships by seeking out lower currency transactions for better deals on essential natural resources, which isolate developing nations with steadily increasing currencies or currencies that are prompted to seek more investment into key things like Human Rights. If where being honest here the term debt trap colonialism is just the same term as colonialism in which occupying wealthier nations often seek out to expand on poorer nations to increase there power and influence, the US dollar into developing countries like Zimbabwe or any other African countries like Liberia is just a front due to the growing soft power of the United States wealth in which the United States can cut off it's currency to developing nations to force them to have there own currency to get a cheaper price with poor regulation.

We don't have enough roubles to trade entirely in Rupee- Ruble system. So the Russians are demanding us to join their MIR system with Chinese Yuan as the currency (That's absurd, especially for an Indian) We should use our gold reserve instead, our balance of payment is only 10 thousand crore, we have 40 Lakh crore worth of gold reserves and only nearly 30 Lakh crore worth of Indian National currency is in circulation. Which means we have a cushion of 10 Lakh Crore worth of gold for exactly this kind of payment crisis. It's either that or accepting Chinese Yuan as the mode of payment method, which in my opinion should never ever be adopted under any circumstances.
