On my AT and my AXSR I have found that, regardless of barrel (308 and 6.5x47L for the AT, and 300 PRC, 308, and 6.5 PRC for the AXSR), ensuring that the mating surfaces between the barrel shoulder and receiver are wiped clean makes a huge difference. I've tested this enough times to even put my own criticisms to rest. I fully recognize that it's a challenge in the field also. Just pointing this out as I know exactly what your rifle will do and minimization of anomalies affords us greater confidence in our equipment Great video and I appreciate the content, especially the AI stuff!

I owned a AIAX with 6MM CM, 6.5CM, and 308 barrels. It was a great rifle. When I first got it, I swore I would never sell it, but it sat in my safe most of the time. At the end of the day, it wouldn't put a bullet $7K dollars closer to my POA than my Tikka CTR in a Bravo chassis would, and I found the Tikka more enjoyable to shoot. I had an opportunity to sell it for not much less than I paid for it, so I did. I don't knock anyone that has the money and can afford one I say go for it.

I love my AXSA. Has taken me out to 1,950 yards in 6.5CM with a Proof pre-fit. When I miss a shot it's more likely me and not the rifle. Quick change barrel system makes swapping calibers easy and even though I'm in the south, knowing my bolt won't freeze makes the deer more scared to come out during hunting season. Great video as always.

I have a AI-AT in 6.5 C/M, and a ATX in 6.5 C/M. I love both of these rifles! Their out of the box accuracy is amazing especially with Berger factory ammunition. I really like having such an intuitive barrel swap system. I have barrels for 6GT and 6C/M that mount up/perform flawlessly! I believe it's difficult to beat AI if you want a top notch rifle system that has easy barrel swap capability and out of the box accuracy!

Hey I have an AI AT 308, with three different calibers (.308, 6.5x47L & 6XC)from three different manufacturers (original, Lilja and Border)... Love the rifle and the system. Had it since '17, so fairly experienced with the rifle... SO! What I'm getting at is... you do not need more then handtighten the barrel to the action, AND the barrel set screw should be set to 5.5 NM tq (according to AI manual)

I love my AI AT. I also find it strange to see such a shift after the barrel removal. Ive done a similar thing to show it off and it's always returned within an inch at 100 yards. Maybe it was the extra torque? I always just put my barrel on hand tight then give it a good snug with my hand.

Do you have footage of the malfunction when you went to cycle the bolt? I noticed on mine, very rarely I will have user induced error by not pulling the bolt all the way back before I send the bolt forward. It won't pick up a round and I get the same "click". I don't video myself shooting so I could never tell if it was me not pulling bolt all the way back or its the mag/receiver/ammo interface angle etc.
@richardh8990
@richardh8990 17 күн бұрын
Never mind, kept watching and saw that you were empty. That's the other thing I noticed with mine. Sometimes depending on how the magazine is seated, the bolt would get caught on the follower and not go forward to indicate empty, other times it would.

This is my take on it. If you're getting paid to shoot (competition \ clandestine \ gov operations) then possibly, yes, worth the money. For recreation or just for fun competition I can't see it at all. If it was as exponentially more capable to equate with the exponential cost, then maybe. However the point of diminishing returns hits fast. You end up paying 10x as much for something that is maybe only 2x as capable. At what point does one stop? I'd say for the average person who can easily shoot 1 moa with a $1k rifle (and a few for 500ish), then why spend 10x the price for groups that are .2 or .3 moa better? Again, if you're getting paid well to shoot and the results matter, then the high price makes sense.

Joshua, obviously you do not own an AI. It's not just the accuracy, though that is a factor. It is the confidence that it gives, the knowledge that it will perform every time I need it to, no matter the weather, or environment it is in. It's also the fact that I can have ANY short action cartridge in the same frame. Just spin up a barrel, and done. I have cheap rifles that shoot as accurately, but when I can only pick one rifle from the 20 or so I have, I'll be reaching for the AI. I waited (and made sacrifices and saved) for over 30 years to get my AI. Absolutely worth it. It will be the last rifle that I ever give up. They are not for everyone, but until you own one, you will not understand what it is about an AI. There are intangibles that non owners just don't understand.
