I do agree her voice sounded strained here, but I think if you take a look at some of her other performances from this set, you'd find she sounded much more comfortable and warmed up. I believe this was very early in the concert and also heard that she wasn't able to do a proper rehearsal due to the weather, making it her first ever live performance of this song. Would definitely recommend her "To be Loved" performance, which is hands down one of the best live vocals I've heard from her.

Oh yes, I heard it a little on the studio version too. From interviews, I believe she said this was the very first song she recorded for the album, and given her preference for 1st takes and current mental and physical state when she wrote this, I think this song in particular was bound to sound a little rough. I definitely agree she has a tendency to sacrifice efficiency for style, as Adele herself has admitted to that, but I think she’s also shown she can find a more healthy balance at times. From some of her other recent performances, I actually think she has improved her upper chest/mix a little and doesn’t seem to pull up as much weight as she used to.

I think in general she is singing better, and more healthily than ever, and she's made some positive changes to her vocal technique. She did sound a little tense here, but I'm inclined to think she was probably nervous singing in public for the first time in more than four years, and this is her first live crack at what is currently the most famous song on the planet. You should definitely take a look at her scratch performance of To Be Loved, where she sings with a huge dynamic range, and she sounds flawless. Enjoyed your thoughts and appreciated your attentive reaction.

Well, that's confusing. Other vocal coaches said that Adele knows what she's doing and nothing is really damaging or harming her vocal cords/voice, particularly because she is knowledgable of all of that and she has her doctors to let her know what is good and what is not. And if I'm not mistake, her doctor years ago clarified that its mostly her lifestyle and not her technique that caused some issues.

I always appreciate and respect your commitment to saying what you think about what you're hearing. That's what we're hear for, to listen and weigh with you, but of course not to judge or condemn, which you always take pains to say. The more I've learned about vocals and liisened to vocal analyses (including ypurs), the more I'm able to hear these things for myself and listen to them from myself (to improve). Melia's point about "tragic beauty" is deeper than it sounds. Singing your heart out emotionally is powerful and memorable, and people connect with that (which is a massive part of perfornance) but getting efficient first allows you to eventually do it safely, consistently and for a lifetime. Vocal health is important. I will agree with Melia that Adele's voice doesn't sound as "powerful" in this particular performance. Maybe it's the ssong or she was tired or is still finding / rediscovering her voice after the weught loss. She really tried to bring in distortion / rasp at one poinr though it felt a bit hard for her. Ihope she keeps improving and working with great vocal coaches.

Hey guys! Can you react to Exo's Best Live Vocals 2020 Compilation? Exo is a legendary Kpop boyband known for its great live vocals and great performing skills. Since they are on semi-hiatus because of mandatory military service, all of the members also started their own solo careers. In the compilation above, you can hear both group and solo performances. Thank you in advance! :)

Hello, can you please analyse Sia - Alive - live at Graham Norton? She also has a controversial technique but she's my favourite artist ever. And she is still a powerhouse in her 40ties and many singers try to imitate her unique style of delivering.

I want you both to know that I fully understand you wanting singers to be careful and not hurt their voices and I respect that but I and my twin sister started singing in school in choir, then all of a sudden we had the opportunity to sing in a 8 piece Motown sixtys band and had to forget everything we were taught because the two are totally two different animals. If we were to keep those things we were taught then we would have been singing to straight and white bread! Singing in choir or theater is not singing like a lead singer because you are thinking more technical than singing natural. You could never ever teach a person to sing great you are born with it, you can improve it but you are born with it. Have you both ever sang on the road with a working band, I have for years and have done studio work as well. You don't want to sound like a pageant singer, you know what I'm trying to say.I just want to get across how important it was to retrain myself from singing so generic , yes that's the right word, generic. If your looking at every little sound or S like you said, for me it's a bit too much.

Thanks for watching, it's really nice to hear from other professional singers! That is a very good point!!! Thats actually something that Chase learned when we switched to singing contemporary music from Opera! We would never say to sing in a motown band like you would in choir, but we believe that you can both have healthy technique AND use your instrument in the best way for the style of music. Both Melia and I have sung in professional bands as well as studying opera in school and while we agree that they are totally different animals, its our opinion though that how the voice works is the same. Also, if you don't look natural while you're singing on stage singing anything.....its going to be awkward. I would also totally disagree that you cannot learn to be a great singer, there are lots of people who aren't the most "technical" singers that have amazing careers using their voice. Taylor Swift is the first example that comes to my mind. I would love to hear from you though! Did you ever lose your voice on tour? Have you sung so hard that you literally couldn't do the next show? What did you do when you couldn't sing anymore? Seriously, we really appreciate your insight. We don't believe that we have it all figured out. Our channel is about having an open and honest conversation about singing and the voice and we want to hear from people like you! So thank you so much for your comment 😊

Hey guys! How are you doing? I was wondering if you could react to Exo (it's a male K-pop group and they're considered the best vocals in kpop) the videos "Amazing Vocals by Exo" and "Exo Best Live Vocals 2020" it would be really cool since you guys already reacted to some kpop. Actually I think exo members are on another level of technique and talent beyond kpop! They all have been participated on theatre musicals, almost like opera singing. I'm sure you guys will enjoy this group a lot. :)

Adele is a Ferrari, not a Pinto. What makes her better is that she has the guts to push her voice to the limit. That's why she shines. Not everybody is able to take corners like a Porsche. Not everybody has the guts to do whatever it takes to be their authentic best. So there are regular singers and then there are Adeles and Whiteys. Life is short kids. Drive fast and take risks even if it means you might crash in a wall.

Exactly, but I think she is singing good, she has been singing for over 10 years after her surgery and I'm sure she has a lot of vocal coaches and doctors that help her keep her voice healthy. I don't know what these two are trying to start with this video......
