I believe that some AI-tools can be a great asset when learning languages. Back when I was younger and tried to speak to English speakers there were often times words that I could not understand, but with current-day technology with common apps like Google translate many of those gaps could be covered. It is a great feeling to be able to speak English with someone without using any additional tools, but I don't mind using that type of tool. I recently watched a video about a glove with AI that could translate sign language to spoken English. I think AI will provide a lot of crap and some gems with it comes to languages and communication.

Justin. Love your videos. Я также немного говорю по-русски, но считаю его трудным языком. I have also ai device which I can use to auto translate . Eg you speak Russian and I hear English. .but this will never meet the value of being mutli lingual.

languages are good and can open many doors (this is coming from someone who speaks 5 languages) but the 100s or even thousands of hours needed to learn a language above just conversational level may not be the best investment of one's time when you compare it to something else, like investing that much time in a business, or extra education. Also Justin mentioned that books/apps are not necessary to learn a foreign language but I have to disagree, to learn for example proper grammar books and written exercises are absolutely necessary.

Hello mate, and thanks for you input. I am by no means against any method, I simply stated that I don't use them. I don't think there is a bad way to learn languages. Wow 5 languages!!! A true polyglot

Exactly, mind you, you could learn a language well without grammar books if you had a lot of exposure to the language over a very long period of time.

There might be languages that are somewhat easy to translate from one to another. But there are languages that are nowhere close by their grammar approach and I wouldn't ever believe that AI can pull them off.. My native is Latvian and last 11 years I live in England. Just to compare those languages on any automated translator and it is a very miserable crap. You read the translation and don't know if to laugh or cry because it is such a nonsense in most of cases when you need a larger piece of text... No AI would replace a proper human translation. You need develop some sort of feeling for the language to get a really good translation. And that's beyond the AI.

in few years tame AI can not just replace a need for language courses, it can replace humans. Most of the people can not even imagine how fast AI is evolving.
