Again, kudos to Harbaugh for proving to everyone that he's no longer a complete idiot and finally has learned how to strategize against competitors that are much better than the ones he plays in the little 10. I think most Knew if Michigan beat Bama, they would have no problem handling Washington.

One of the funniest things I've heard in 2023 for real. Laughing my ass off. Apparently Roman didn't do any deep research on Michigan. They all seem to have forgotten about the TCU game where J.J. balled out after the two pick sixes and put up 45 points. 52 if the refs call the Wilson catch a touchdown. That was a year ago. J.J.'s mechanics were wrong back then. New QB coach corrected it in the pre-season. He has completed that same pass that resulted in the pick sixes all year because of adjustments in footwork.

@@HughButler-lb6zsThe transfer portal and NIL changed the game for everyone...Alabama no longer has the talent or depth of years past, and schools like Michigan are better able to hold onto and develop talent. Alabama will get more 5 stars every year, most of whom will flame out, transfer, or leave for the NFL in 3yrs, Michigan will keep guys in the system and bring in other upperclassmen in the program who have developed and are 4th and 5th year guys. Believe me or not, but there's a huge difference in a 19 yr old true sophomore and 21 yr old RS junior who's been in a college strength and conditioning program for 4yrs. And a bunch of 2nd and 3rd year 5 stars don't want to wait to play, so they'll just transfer out after 1 or 2 years and there goes 'Bama's depth, which has been their biggest strength over the years.

I think they look plain, even the trick plays. HB pass? This team is disciplined. The biggest problem on their entire team is Corum and he ain't playing. JJ McCarthy looks pedestrian. He likes the short throws and he can hit the deep balls. He has been off some. He threw some uncatchable balls. I think Michigan has tried to mask their weaknesses by running the ball I think. I'm excited about the game, Bama has the potential to ROMP. Vegas has Michigan by about a point and a half. I don't see why Bama is not favored by about 6.5. Maybe they are looking at Bama's inconsistency? IDK. Vegas usually does a great job of handicapping the games. They must not believe in Jalen. Bama will make JJ McCarthy run the ball. Does he have 4.4 speed? He looks pretty quick sometimes. He'll take some licks this game.

@@PedroMartinez-tt7lr I don't bet on my team. Gambling makes me too anxious. I do like to study the probability and the oddsmakers are the best at it. When I followed every facet of SEC FB I used to participate in a $20 season long pick 'em. I did really well. You have to consider talent, "completeness" of the team, injuries, tendencies, and etc. Sometimes you can find a variable Vegas apparently omitted from consideration. I was disappointed. Michigan made enough mistakes to lose the game. Most of their defense looked like mind numbingly dumb zone defense to me. Why were there few drag routes/check-downs? I still don't understand how Alabama ended up with a center that cannot snap the ball. Alabama played good enough, at times, to win the game. It probably was the best game of the post season. But, it was "meh" too. Lack of regulation of the "NIL deals" and the transfer portal are killing CFB. I laughed when it happened to FSU. Now NS has retired and the Bama program has scattered to the wind. Fans support the team, and the individual players. There is no buy in. Gravedigger goes to Texas for 3/4 mil and a Lambo. I thought this would kill CFB 2 years ago. It's just getting started. CFB can be as popular as women's collegiate soccer. That can happen. I'm an alumni and was an obsessed fanatic. I even considered getting a small tattoo to represent my school/team but didn't just in case the program ceased to appeal to me. That day has come. The entire sport has transferred. I'm still here.

@randalltromp2160 Well it's nice to finally meet a football expert. We heard all this shit last year and Michigan got their asses handed to them by a.small Texas college. Michigan hasn't played but one team that shows any prowess. Alabama has played 5. You Yankees are all mouth. When was the last time a Big 10 team has won the natty. Except for Clemson, the SEC owns the National Championship.

This is legitimately some of the laziest, least informative analysis on the Rose Bowl matchup. As a Michigan fan, I'm not going to pretend I know what's going to happen, but I will tell you how I think Michigan wins this game. 1) Michigan's strength on the offensive line is on the interior, and they're better at run blocking than pass blocking at tackle. They are maybe the most dangerous team in the country in play action, but they have to be somewhat productive in the run game for that to hold true. 3.5-4ypc is what they need. The strength of the Alabama defense is on the edge and at corner...their DTs are just guys...this could be a point where Alabama could be exploited. 2) the Alabama LBs aren't great in coverage and can definitely be beaten. Donovan Edwards is a great route runner and receiving back and Colston Loveland and AJ Barner are 2 of the best TEs in the country and could do real damage in the passing game; it may not matter if Michigan's WRs aren't able to get consistent production. 3) Michigan has by far the most complex coverage scheme in the country...they prepared all year for Ohio State's WRs and have no shortage of complicated and masked coverages to throw at Milroe. His biggest weakness is reading coverages and taking too long to get through his progressions. Michigan has 3 studs who are also ball hawks in the secondary in Will Johnson - probably the best cover corner in the country, Mike Sainristil - probably the best nickel in the country, and Rod Moore at safety. Confusing Milroe and turning that into turnovers could decide the game. My guess is Saban keeps it very conservative offensively and sticks to a manball approach primarily. 4) The weakness on the offensive line for Alabama is especially at center, but also LT where they're starting a true freshman. Michigan has the most talent in the country at DT where they go 5 or 6 deep with pros, none of whom play much more than 30 snaps a game, although expect to see more Mason Graham, Kris Jenkins and Kenneth Grant this game. I fully expect them to blow up the Alabama interior, and if they can largely neutralize the inside run game, it would go a long way to helping Michigan dedicate other players to containing Milroe. This Michigan DL needs to and should control the LOS if they hope to win.

Georgia had a really solid blueprint against this very manageable Alabama offense...be patient and disciplined on defense, 1 or 2 spies for Milroe, and make him make the defensive reads and beat you with his arm. Eventually the pass rush will get home. The Bulldogs held him to 56.5% completion and the Alabama offense to 306 total yards. If Georgia had a little bit better red zone defense, they win the game. 27 points is a lot to score on barely 300yds of offense. Of Alabama's 11 drives, 5 of them were 3 and outs. 2 more went fewer than 30 yards. Something like 80% of their production came on the 3 TD drives. Michigan has to be better than Georgia in the red zone. Turn some of their productive drives to FGs, and instead of 27 maybe we're looking at 16 points. I expect Alabama to leave their corners largely on islands with Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson and load the box. I think they'll be run heavy and sprinkle in some play action passing and probably a trick play or two. Alabama's good at running end arounds and jet sweeps, so I fully expect a bunch of different looks to try to exploit Michigan on the edges where they aren't as good. Michigan will probably have to employ McCarthy in the run game where the Alabama defense has struggled at times this year. PA will be important to keep the Tide defense honest, and finding mismatches with their TEs and RBs is imperative. This is not a world beating Alabama team on either side of the ball like some years past. Honestly, Alabama is not a horrible matchup for Michigan. Both teams will need to stay out of a negative game script. Michigan's pass blocking is very suspect and obvious passing downs could go very badly for them with the talent 'Bama boasts on the edges. Conversely, Milroe dropping back to pass 35 times probably spells disaster for the tide as he has the propensity to occasionally take terrible sacks, and with the Wolverines' ball-hawking secondary and complicated scheme could lead to some very bad INTs. For the same reason, both teams will want to avoid obvious passing downs, like 3rd and long, and in those situations, I kind of expect them to be conservative and live to fight another day. Punting and FG kicking may end up winning the day. My feeling is Michigan needs to average in the range of 3.5 to 4ypc to stay out of 3rd and long and set up play action where they can get some chunk plays. Getting Donovan Edwards isolated on a LB or Loveland on a LB or safety on quick throws is where they're going to have to get some damage done in the passing game. #2 CB for Michigan is not great, so staying in 2 deep safety looks as much as possible may be what they have to do. That's especially hard when employing dedicated spies. I actually like Michigan in this game, but not so much that I'm wildly confident. Can't wait for New Year's Day! Go Blue!

Bama shouldn't even be there but I'll glad to see them stomped. Milroe is going to be running for his life. 43 sacks given up by Bama and they haven't even faced a top 5 defense. UM has faced 3. 240 lb D-ends aren't gonna work on a real offensive line. Bama lineman will be on Skates by the end of the second quarter. Georgia was down this year and Bama will be finding out the hard way😂
