Well, that eliminates the major problem with re-enforced concrete structures but still retaines the reason for re-enforcing. Awesome.

🤯 That blew my mind. New technology that is not thermal transferable 🤯 cold to hot. Surveyors of old used to pull chain making note of the measurements and the temperature because of the thermal expansion and contraction of each link. The thermal expansion and contraction of different materials is the key to shear cracking of concrete and the starting of its degradation. Thanks Matt & that man behind the curtain.... DON'T pay attention to the man behind the scenes .... "these are not the Droids you're looking for👋 !" 😉👍

Very interesting and intriguing. Back when adding fiberglass fibers to concrete became (somewhat) common, I wondered if something like this couldn't be done. I felt it might not be strong enough in a rebar type format. Evidently I was wrong about that. Cheap imitations could be a problem. Very cool to see! I am curious about how flexible it is, say, in a slab situation. The only thing you didn't cover is the cost vs steel rebar. And, sounds like you might be working on becoming a distributor for them.

I have always thought that someone would come up with a better then steel rebar, it seems moisture is the number one cause of failure with concrete and steel, due to as the rebar rust away the bond of steel to concrete is lost, I know epoxy coated steel rebar still has a short life due to nicks in the epoxy then the steel fails, I wonder how the life span of bridges could be extended by usage of this product, maybe double it's life? great Job Matt and MBTS.

Interesting video. In the outside shots the wind noise covered up most of the details about the color and applications. Next question is eventually the concrete with this rebar will be recycled, what hazards are there when the concrete is crushed. When I worked at a concrete recycling facility there were magnets to remove the steel.

I gotta say, very interesting. I am in Europe and have a building construction site 20 yards from my home. I see lots of rebar being used, walls, floors etc. I do see welders making custom cages for corners and areas around windows. I do not see how this can be done with glass rebar. It puts more pressure on architects and designers to do very very detailed material lists. As we know, nothing always fits the way we plan. How easy does this product lend itself tp adaption. I am blown away by glass rebar. I hope it takes off. I see a good future. Thumbs up to you for bringing it to us. Thanks. Looking forward to the Castle addition

What a brilliant product, the company have really done their homework. It would save an absolute fortune, although it's the same size of rebar the transport cost would be much reduced as it's a lot lighter. Then there's site equipment and man hours, as an independent contractor on smaller builds, you could save money on expensive lifting equipment and man power. And any waste can go back through the supply chain. I've inspected so many buildings that have had blown concrete, caused by rust on the rebar, you wouldn't get that again. It would also be interesting to see how it performs in earthquake areas, I wonder how it would react with sideways movement. 👍🤗

Someone was talking in comments about recycle concrete. Steel reber will stretch and break. The strength of the glass rod so much high. That means the shears and excavators will have to be reengineered for this. That is very impressive, nice job. Now find a slab with glass rod to destroy, see if dirt perfect can do it.

I like the fact that it doesn't rust in concrete but in a lot of building codes you have to put a Ufer ground in the footer and fiberglass is not conductive so you would have to use some steel around the footer to make a proper ground for house wiring. I went to Lowes and found that they sell Owens Corning pink #4 x 10' for around $8.50 each and steel #4 x 10' cost $7.50.

Justa Tim of course you need a ground for your electric wiring. But this can de done outside the building. Bad mixture of concrete, not enclosed steel is the problem.

@@henkoosterhof5947 Codes have changed a lot and in quite a few districts and states on new construction you have to use a ufer ground instead of the old grounding rods. Very nice sounding product. It certainly solves a lot of issues when using rebar. My only concern is what happens when the time comes to take down a structure with this in it. We have issues now with material generally referred to as plastics and what to due with them. One of the big issues with windmills are when the blades reach the end of their life cycle. So far, it has not been figured out how to recycle them or refurbish them. Just a thought as I try to think to the future.

That's a awesome video Matt. Great company and product. They do custom orders so pretty much you can send them a copy of your blueprint and they will make the rebar to your needs so you don't have to cut and bend on the job. Wow that's gonna cut the time of the project or job in half. You picked up a bundle of the rebar, how many bundles could you carry at once?

Ya beat me to it and he sounds so condescending when he talks or interviews people. I usually shut it off or skip to the parts I want to see.

I saw a concrete company using this product and had my doubts, but not any more. This is a fantastic product! How do you tie this product as in a slab mat?

Worked on a plant early 2000, I think they could have produced the reels of fiberglass that they use. The one thing that I do remember. After watching that process, it was very cold area. My joints hurt so bad, and I still had one more day there before I could fly home. My body was hurting.
