Heard someone say it's important to stick to stocks that are recession-proof, hence I'm looking at amazon and other AI stocks, or are there better recommendations? I'm 31 and I've got $150k ready money to invest for my future.

the idea is to look for stocks that have paid steady, increasing dividends for years(or decades), and have not cut their dividends even during recessions, speaking with a proper advisor can be very useful most times in getting the job done.

Agreed, I'm in line with having a license professional oversee my day-to-day investing cos,time to analyze stocks myself. Thankfully, my portfolio is well diversified and has just 5X in 5 years, summing up roughly $1m as of today.

The decision on when to pick or use an advisor is a very personal one. I take guidance from a Montana-based investment specialist 'Katherine Nance Dietz' you'd most likely find her details on the internet, she's been active for two decades now, before the '08 crash.

Of all the people that I've heard talk about Amazon stock, you're the first one that I've actually heard cover the fact that they are increasing their share count and diluting share owners. No one seems to cover that. Thank you for bringing that up.

i think you need to subtract both capital expenditure and stock based comp from OCF to get FCF. SBC dilutes current shares!

Excellent contents. Luv it! Amazon is one that I am continuing to buy at the moment. If it come down more, I am buying more. I am sure they will eventually initial a stock buyback in due time. Who know, they may even authorize a dividend payout some day. If any of the above come true, the stock will kick into high gear. Not going to miss Amazon this time go around. HODL!

LOL just buy Microsoft. If it's a long hold then in 5 years it won't matter if you paid 4% too much in 2024.

Hey Jimmy, thanks for analysis!! Great point about the share dilution of Amazon, this is much underestimated in general. Over the last 12 months they increased share count by 3%, at current share price those extra shares are worth 56 B$ and it would take more than the full year free cash flow of Amazon to offset this. So in reality, there is really no net cash generated for the shareholders (Amazon has never generated cash for the shareholders btw). So i agree not to buy given this structural dilution.

Straight up BS, over the last 12 months share count increased 1,37%. Check their Q1 earnings presentation. Amazon is a steal under $200, the potential in all business segments + robotification of their wearhouses can send this stock in the upcoming decade to 4x. Cloud is 👑

Just do a starter position. That way you are in the game in case you are wrong and it doesn't drop to 160. Ask yourself the question..."will amazon be selling higher in 5 years than it is today?" The answer is almost certainly yes. So if you have any conviction whatsoever in the company, it won't really matter in 5 years what you paid today. I personally do not like to trade or swing companies like Amazon. I buy them to hold for a long long long time. GL

@@Hazel66781 Why? If it's a long hold then it won't matter in 5 years if you saved 4% and what you paid for it in 2024. My experience for long holds has been, unless it is grossly overpriced (Amazon is not), just do a startup position and add slowly on down days or market corrections over time.
