I don't get why fans can't call it like it is. It's a big gamble, and he clearly wasn't the first choice. Sure, as a fan we will back him if he comes. But that doesn't escape the fact that there are other managers AVAILABLE (i.e. out of a job) that have a track record. I also don't get the obsession with maintaining Klopp's style of play with the new manager. If anything, I want the new guy to build a more controlled style. The heavy metal style worked well, but hasn't for a while and is draining on players.

The main difference is LFC got the best senior management in the football world. Now that slot has signed, together with this coaching staff. Do expect the all summer transfer to be completed before July, similar to LFC between 2006 - 2021 when edwards was at the helm

Sounds like he likes pressing high up the pitch. That’s a very familiar style of play and it is what has always attracted me to the LFC style of play.

In the premier league its bad cos players get too tired its alright in leagues where there are not as many games overall but constant running and pressing just leads to more injuries and Diaz/Nunez can not press effectively either.

The same style of play that yielded one PL and one UCL in nine seasons with Klopp as coach. That's what you man want going forward. How many seasons have been written off due to the number of injuries FSG Liverpool have had? There's nothing attractive about a team that can only play at full speed in the opposition third. Opponents have understood that Klopp's one-dimensional tactics don't allow FSG Liverpool to play with control in their and the middle thirds. And, you want more of it?

PL experience is worth its weight in gold. That's why Rice cost £100m and is leading Arsenal to a PL and Endo cost £16m and led FSG Liverpool to a CC win and is flailing around in that defensive midfield zone. That's why Mac Allister has become a protagonist and Szoboszlai is struggling now after a decent (not amazing start). (Amazing is how Bellingham started at Madrid. You man got too excited by a decent start and started proclaiming him to be Gerrard 2.0. 🤣) That's why Gravenberch has not done much of note and is spending his first season adjusting. So, yes, PL experience counts.

@@cjewe1zyou are completely wrong. PL experience counts for very little if anything. Maureen had PL experience but failed at Manu. Poch has PL experience but isn't doing great at Chelsea. Pep had no PL experience but look what he has done at manc. Moyes had PL experience but we all know what happened at Manu. Brendan Rodgers had PL experience but look what happened with Leicester! Maureen had no PL experience when he first went to Chelsea and did well. You have no clue what you are talking about. Stop just repeating what you hear and see in the news or social media. Had you ever heard of Arsene Wenger before he came to England??? Or even klopp for that matter. Slot may be a success or may not make it and it won't be because of the so-called PL experience. It's about getting the right fit for the right club. Now go back to the naughty corner and shut up!

FSG is all about money. They don’t care about trophies but they very much care about top 4 (maybe top 5with new format). Arne Slot has a style similar to Klopp which means less money spent. Edwards is amazing but he is also limited by FSG budget. At the end of the day it is a business decision more so than footballing one.

Feyenoord sold their star player for €4.5M to Ajax which was then the entire transfer budget. He bought players like Aursnes (€500k, sold the next year for €15M to benfica) and made Conference League final. Many players left, also because there were many loanees. 2nd season he built a team that made us champions. Again many players were sold. This summer we are projected to make over €100M profit in the transfer market. So yeah, it is a great decision business wize. But don't forget: he will bring spectacle football that's hard to defend as he has his team scoring goals in every way possible. His tactics are so fluid and versatile that it's nearly impossible for opponent to know what to expect. Arne Slot will bring succes to Anfield. There is nobody in Holland who has any doubts.

@@markforster8865 Sure. It remains to be seen. But no body will be more happy than liverpool fans if that happens. But many have failed which is why Klopp was an absolute exception. He understood the club, fans and the city. His success is still bemoaned/downplayed by most rival fans. Yet, more than anything else he brought back the belief (doubters to believers as he put it). We'll see.

@@gokulkrishnan5957 if you replace liverpool with feyenoord then you describe exactly what he did for us. He gets everybody on board to achieve the goals. Players LOVE playing for him. Even Robin van Persie said he wished he could have played under Slot as he's the best manager he ever encountered. Staff, players and fans are all united in Rotterdam. Media skills great, tactical genius, individual player focus next level. I know very well what Klopp has done for Liverpool. And I believe Slot will outshine him. Prepare to be amazed ❤️

this is an obvious footballing decision. his style play and the way he communicates is the reason it looks like to me Edwards is going after him. it's obvious.there is only one team in Europe that has won the ball back more high up the pitch than Liverpoool.. guess who that is? Arne Slot is an excellent trainer for any top club, including Liverpool. Barcelona, Bayern Munich & Real Madrid would also be nice. Then he can go for the Champions League win. The only thing I don't like about Slot is the idiotic zone coverage of the defense on free kicks & corner kicks, instead of man coverage. As a result, his teams regularly concede goals. A zone can't score a goal, but a man can. Why then cover a zone & not a man? It's that simple. Hopefully Slot will do something with this & change it ❤

No one knows who the right choice is, even if the fans got who they wanted, so Alonso, that wouldn’t have been a sure thing. If the Liverpool management feel this guy is a good fit I’ll get behind him and hopefully he can do great things.

@@cjewe1z As Carragher has questioned, why was Tuchel never remotely connected? Its clear FSG are cutting costs post covid and looking to employ another Bodgers. Cheap, young pliable mouth piece of a "manager" Arne Slot fits the FSG requirement perfectly. The support does not matter. We face at least another 5 years mid table.

When Ten Hag was in the Dutch league, Slot couldn't win anything. EtH scooped it all up except for 1 cup which was won by PSV. Considering EtH isn't even doing so well in the EPL, why go for a guy that's a level below him

Ajax have a budget much higher as AZ and Feyenoord. Slot was equal with Ajax with AZ in 2020/2021. But the League was canceled of covid.
