1. Belted Notes
For a note to be considered Golden, it must be consistently "perfect" in the vocalists' range. They must be able to sustain it with resonance, and be able to sing it with resonance on a very consistent basis.
Golden: 3.0 points
Ringing inconsistent/consistently grounded: 2.5
Grounded inconsistent: 2
Free consistent: 1.75
Inconsistently free: 1
Tense: .5
Underbelts are notes that are ringing under the vocalists' starting note, and as Beyoncé is a lowered soprano that means notes under F#4 They can either earn 1 point for inconsistent resonance, or 1.5 for consistent.
2. Low Notes
Golden: 2.0
Full Fairly Consistently: 1.75
Inconsistently full: 1.25
Inconsistently free: 0.75
Tense/Airy: 0.25
3. Head Voice
Golden: 2.0
Inconsistently Resonant or consistently grounded 1.75
Inconsistently grounded 1.25
Inconsistently free 0.75
Tense 0.25
4. Whistle Notes
Golden: 0.3
Not golden but Musical: 0.2
Off-key: 0.1
8. Vocal Effects:
For each skill that the vocalist is capable of, they earn a point. If they are a master of this skill, they earn two points.
9. (Lack of) Vocal Issues: Here, if the vocalist has any major issues, they are deducted a varying amount of points from the ten given in this category.
10. Consistency/Longevity: If the vocalist has struggled with consistency in the past or has drastically declined from their prime, they will have points deducted in this category from 5.

The whole Virgo's groove song could be used as an example to showcase her creativity with agility. Also you should add a bonus for pitch. Some great singers can get pitchy at times and I think Beyonce is one of the few ones that are perfectly on pitch like 99% of the time. Her pitch precision is particularly impressive when she's doing runs switching between registers and not for one second does she go even a little off.

@varunravi27
@varunravi27 Жыл бұрын
@@pigeonsandplanes5805 That's actually really sad because Beyoncé was always better than Xtina. Honestly, outside of the vocal community, people tend to overrate Xtina as a vocalist. She is a good singer but her vocal technique is far, far worse than people think. She can barely support her belts in the upper fourth octave (she is improving her technique in her mixed register though) and often lowers her larynx to create that "intentional strain" sound because she is a soul singer. However, her low notes are pretty good and her falsetto is easily the best in the industry.

@@varunravi27look the thing is when someone (especially females) sing darker and growl a lot, the general public thinks they're a better vocalist. Like Whitney and Mariah are vocally equal, the general public knows hoe great whitney is, but Mariah is never really sold as that great of a vocalist outside her whistles even though she is unreal. Women who sing darker are just generally known as better to them I've noticed
@varunravi27
@varunravi27 9 ай бұрын
@@TheFameDream-nb3ce Agreed. I think it's because the masses believe it is harder to chest belt than it is to sing with a lighter approach when, in fact, both require equal amounts of training and practice. All registers require the same amount of attention. Unfortunately, most singers today do not put in the time and effort to work on all of their registers. Beyoncé is one of the few remaining pop stars that is a well-rounded vocalist. Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga and P!nk are also some good examples.

She did have a live-in vocal coach, since kidhood, training 4 days a week for years. Let's hope that in our next lifetime, we all live in a world where everyone can afford to develop their potential, full-time, from the youngest age. Imagine how many untapped potentials there are walking this earth, because they never had a chance to develop their vocal abilities or talents full-time. 😢 Let's hope we all get parents as fully vested in us, and as unconditionally supportive, as they were in this woman. I hope, in our next lifetime.

Rhianna was a huge surprise acapella, she sounded terrible. The only one that came close to Beyonce was Sia but Sia's vocals were more processed. I'd definitely say Sia is the 2nd best female voice in music but Beyonce....shes just insanely good. the only thing I disagree with here is your analysis of her breath management. It's true that she doesn't do many sustained belts but I think her breathing technique is still top tier. You try singing one of her uptempo songs with that fast staccato she does without running out of breath lol. The majority fail. People think ballads are the hardest kind of songs to sing, which is typical and true of most vocalists but Beyoncé is not most vocalists. Her mid-tempos/uptempos usually have more intricate and complex arrangements than her slow ballads.

Basing on all the vocalists I've been listening to actually I would call F#4 as the first passaggio of a higher-set mezzo rather than a lower-set soprano. Vocalists who have their first passaggio at G4 like Morissette, Yolanda, P!nk sounds very sopranoish to my ears and Etta James, who has her first passaggio at F4, sounds very mezzoish. Then I started to ponder would F#4 be the first passaggio of a lower-set soprano or a higher-set mezzo, and I found a vocalist who sounds very mezzoish had her first passaggio at F#4, that's the great Gladys Knight. m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/at-Bht12v768lI0.html I think it's very clear to hear. Meanwhile, I hear Beyoncé's first passaggio as F4 rather than F#4, there're plenty of videos showcasing her whole vocal range in one minute and her passaggio is quite clear to hear. That being said, her 4th octave is very underdeveloped considering her instrument, but that enables her to reach her upper register more successfully and make her whole mixed register sounds more unified. Agree on everything else, her lower and upper register are very well-developed, her dynamic and agility are just insane, great video!
@KajiVocals

Gladys’ voice sits lower than young Etta’s. And you simply cannot classify passaggi on voices like these. To classify where passaggi are placed you need to look at very specific acoustic phenomena, most of which will not happen in pop voice.

What is the meaning of that "HEAD MIX"?
@jodavitow
@jodavitow 11 ай бұрын
Mixing is a technique that consists of different mechanisms that ultimately work to create the vocal effect of there being no break or jump between vocal registers. So we have M1, which is more known as chest voice, whete the body and the cover of the vocal folds vibrate. Then there's M2 which is known as head voice or falsetto where only the cover of the fold vibrates. Mixing attempts to match the sound of both of them. A "head mix" is someone singing in M2 but altering the sound (can be done using several mechanism) so it sounds a lot like their own M1 sound even tho it's not. A master at mixing should be able to go from full vibration and fold closure in M1, then be able to thin their folds while going up so when they drop the body vibration and it's only the cover it's almost unnoticeable and viceversa. Without the need to change vocal tract shape, modify vowels or anything so the sound is complete seamless. Beyoncé here is a great example of someone who does that.

The timbre determines the voice type not the vocal range. Some tenors can belt/mix G5 , A5 or even C6. But that doesn't make them sopranos.

That's not how it works. First of all she's a pop singer. Those categories were created for classical singing a LONG LONG LONG time ago before any significant scientific development was done in regards of the singing voice. I advocate we should drop them altogether as they seem kind of pointless and are just a very vague, unuseful way to describe anyone's capabilities as a singer. That being said, she's considered a mezzo because of the timbre of her voice and where the "golden notes" sit, not because of her range, which is massive. In terms of classical singing, she goes from soprano to even baritone territory. Beyoncé is an exceptionally well developed and trained singer since childhood. She can hit a C6 in head voice, therefore, if she knows what she's doing, (and she does) she can give it a belting quality by modifying her vocal tract and vowels, while also giving as much fold closure as a M2 will allow. That's it. That what a head mix is. Her voice does have a lot of the qualities that people would associate with mezzo. She's not even "a light one" her voice is very dark, heavy, loud, and powerful. I wouldn't say her voice is light at all. She's just extremely good at singing and her technical capabilities are beyond what you would normally expect from an average "good" singer.

The C6 of Beyonce was not the best of her, look in the performance of Destiny's Child ft Celine Dion, in this performance or including other singing emotion she has better C6. And please won't stop to make this videos, and upgrade the lyrics areas in opera by beyonce too.

So whenever the popular ppl are in the convo, you wanna bring attention to the less popular ppl and downplay those that are popular. Not realizing that those less popular ppl truly aren’t as good.
