You have a great advantage in that you know how to restore all that equipment. So awesome! Also....I see that lathe...🤩🤩🤩

That lathe was also quite the restoration project, I really enjoy giving old tools a new life! Cheers!

Most of my bigger tools were used and bought through FB, garage sales, or estate sales. Like you said, a little bit of elbow grease and you’ve got some awesome tools!

It makes total sense. Especially with older, bigger tools. They are usually built like a tank and can last for generations with a little bit of care!

It's been worth it to me. I got a 1980's Rockwell table saw and a 14" Delta band saw from marketplace over the last few months and the only thing I had to do was to polish the tabletop of the table saw as it was coated in surface rust. The band saw was made right around the year 2000 but looked like it just came off the showroom floor. The thing still had the manual and a spare set of cool blocks in its original bag. In the future I will tear down the table saw to give it a good cleaning and possibly replace its bearings as, while everything works on it, it's a little stiff turning the control knobs and while the belt works fine for now, it is showing signs of beginning to crack from age. And since I'm going to be inside it anyway, why not change out the bearings. I gave $200 for the table saw and $430 for the band saw. The guy was asking $450 but gave me $20 back because he said I seemed like a nice guy and wasn't trying to haggle with him. I said, "Well, when I see a price, I figure that's what they want so that's what I pay if I want it. If they're asking more than what I want to spend, I just look elsewhere."

Thanks for sharing your experience! I missed out on a Delta band saw recently. It was sold by the time I contacted the seller, but I will keep my eyes open! Cheers!

Killer finds, and great restorations. Now to spend $600 to swap out those straight knives to a helical head (and still be up $1200 over buying new)

Thank you! I have no experience with helical heads vs. straight knives, but I probably should look into that! Cheers!

Awesome work, nice to see things getting recycled. A wee word of caution Adrian, I have seen kickbacks when using pad type pushers, push sticks give a little more distance from blades with practice they give good control.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep it in mind!

I just installed my four bagger and put 4" hard pipe to my machines, plus an auto start makes things so much easier. Pop in if you are out this way Adrian.

Nice! One day, I might be there too and hard pipe in every mashine. I have an auto start at my mitersaw station, and I love it. It is for sure on my list for all my other tools that are in need of dust collection. I will let you know when I am in the area!
