Just a thought...Have you ever thought of doing a video on pipes being designated for certain types of tobacco? As a new pipe smoker I hear a awful lot about ghosting which makes me think I should maybe designate certain pipes for certain types of tobacco to not have to worry about that. You could also talk about what type of pipe would be best to designate for those types of blends. I haven't really found anyone online that really covers this, let alone the way you probably could. Maybe this way a new pipe smoker would know the best way to start their collection of pipes and not have to worry about having potential bad experiences due to trying so many types of blends with one or two pipes and not even the right pipe for the job!

This is the channel that single-handedly influenced me to cellar pipe tobacco even before I got into pipe smoking. I now have over 100 different tobaccos that I’ve begun the cellaring process with. As an enjoyer of wine and whiskies I can appreciate the aging process and am excited to do direct comparisons in the future.

I started pipe smoking late in life. Two yrs ago at the age of 60. I cellar for another reason on top of improving the tobacco. I’m trying to build a cellar before I retire next year. Tobacco will only increase in price in the coming years. So I’m also doing it from an economic side. I’m off the a pretty good start. I have added 240 tins to my cellar this past year. Trying to have 400+ when I retire. Thank You Chris for another great video.

A wise decision; many countries are levying excessive taxes on tobacco as it is, and New Zealand in particular is attempting to ban it entirely via a perpetually increasing minimum age such that nobody born after a certain year can legally buy it.

I love how down to earth Muttnchop Piper, for example he is telling us if we want to try it, we should keep the Tobacco for 7-10 years. He said it as easy as it is 7-10 hrs. This was so funny 😂and he remind me of my grandfather. I love him and wish him all the best!. Also when he drank the juice, he is natural and has a BIG HEART ❤️ . I love everything here 👍👍👍

Hi sir, greeting from Indonesia. I'm a re-establish smoker. I smoke in my younger years but then i quit because of work, lifestyle n family. Now i almost retired and have new setup in my daily life. Then I choose to smoke pipe instead of cigarette because it's more elegant and relaxing. I only smoke when i want to relax not in daily activity. For few months now, I been watching your videos and enjoy every pipe smoking knowledge from you. I hope your health well and if someday you went to Indonesia please try our tobacco. Cheers.

Thanks for that info. I watched a couple of other cellaring videos you did as I've just started to realize the value in this procedure.I found out by accident about this although I had heard about cellaring for years in various blogs and other discussions. I received a couple of 1 ounce jars of Brigham's Mark Twain a few years back as a gift and didn't like it - bland and non descript. I threw it in the cupboard thinking I'd eventually toss it. This summer I found it and decided to give it another try and wow was I surprised. In two years and however long it had been since manufacture it had matured to a very nice aromatic. Merry Christmas to you!!

Muttonchop!! I love you man. I've been looking forward to this next video. I'm smoking right now while watching a blend of all different types of tobaccos. It's my "best of the rest" blend, i guess you could say. I've literally just combined every type of unsmoked tobacco you can imagine into a large container that has been sitting on my shelf for years now. It's to the point where I can't even describe the smell or taste because there's so many different things going on in it. I will say it's good though. Instead of throwing away tobaccos you don't care for or that get old and dry, try putting them all in the same container. They will rehydrate as long as you also put some blends in there that are still moist.

Good to see you making videos again. Thanks for all the info you put out there. I'm fairly new to pipe smoking but so far enjoying it very much. I only have 2 pipes for now but love them both. One a church warden a very cool smoking meerschaum from sms pipes. The other also a meerschaum full bent dublin from sms pipes. I've thoroughly enjoyed the blends you have shown from english to aromatics. You do an excellent job describing them taste smell ect. I'd like to see you do a few more videos with some quality meerschaum pipes in the future. I believe a quality meer can make a great novice pipe for numerous reasons. That's what I started with blew the cob pipes I tried out of the water for me imho. I may have to look into a nice quality briar pipe in the future. My goal was to avoiding having to purchase a 7 day sets resting pipes etc. I also love watching the meer pipes color overall. Anyways I'm rambling keep up the good work look forward to your next video and some more of that mountain 🎶. Who knows maybe one day we could pick a few tunes together. I'm sure I could follow on the guitar or fiddle.

Watching you thoughtfully smoke and describe what is going on with your taste buds is one of the most satisfying experiences of this week! I'll definitely keep cellaring my favorite blends. Does the difference in flavor due to cellaring vary depending on the type of blend or does it just blend and mellow the flavors in general regardless of the blend?

Funny how even one of the sharpest, most peppery blends can totally mellow out and become smooth, almost creamy. Even after a considerably short cellar of 1 year can totally change a blend. I followed your advice of prior videos and set aside blends I didn't like for exactly one year, and totally changed them (also considering a change of my palet). Thanks for the great content and advice.

I have a jar full of a blend called Hearth of Galway which is my pipe groups (Pipe Smokers of Ireland) group blend. I tried it as soon as i got it and it was a decent American/English blend good flavor and smooth kick of Cyprian and regular latakia rounded off with a Tennessee burley and sweetened with some black and regular cavendish. but after cellaring it for a month or two it mellowed out and became so much smoother. It had rounded out the latakia to meld with the burley and the cavendish had mellowed out losing its over sweetness and replacing it with a mild more gentle sweetness. so i agree. Definitely cellar your tobacco. Because as they say good thing come to those who wait.
