Others have already said it, but there is no "best player in the world". It's a team sport and if any of the team misfires then you are losing. Some players get the glory by scoring the try, but without the forwards they wouldn't even have the ball in the first place. Kolbe is the best wing in the world right now and probably the most dangerous player with ball in hand, but that is as far as the plaudits can go. He is no more or less important to the Springboks than Etzebeth, Marx, Kolisi, Mapimpi, etc.

Cheslin is coming and playing for my hometown and province. This guy is a freak of nature. Lol. He is absolutely brilliant. I would most definitely rate him the best wing in the world. And yesterday we spoke about the guy kicking penalties. He is not a nr 10 which is the half-back. He normally plays 11 or 14 which are the wings or he can play full back which is nr 15. He doesn't normally kick penalties, but he can if he is needed or asked to do so.

Cheslin used to play for the Stormers in as last few years he's played for Toulouse in France but he just signed the biggest contract in rugby (which isn't much compared to football players and American sports) for Toulon another French club. Everyone has different opinions on who's the best player in the world a lot of people say Cheslin a lot say Antoine Dupont and I couldn't tell you who I thought was better out of those two and a lot of people say other players such as Richie Mounga, Semi Radrada, etc

Kolbe is hilarious. Not very big, but so talented, so quick, and the best sidestep I've ever seen. That clip of him falling on his arse and still beating an entire team to score is my favourite. I should hate him, because he's eaten Ulster (my team) on toast twice playing for Toulouse in the Heineken Cup, but how can you hate a player who's so skilled and so entertaining? As for whether he's the best player in the world, that's harder to say. Different positions demand different kinds of players and have different influences on the game. Kolbe is a brilliant wing, and one of the best in the world (can't say for sure if he's THE best). What I do know is that he made some sort of deal with the devil to be fast, have what have to be the strongest ankles in the sport, and be made of Teflon or some other physics-defying substance :)

Antoine Dupont is the best player in the world imo. Kolbe certainly isn’t far off though. In Rugby your forwards and scrum-half/fly-half tend to have more influence on the outcome of games as they get the ball more. Kolbe is the ideal guy to finish off tries, although he also has a lot of the skills to play 9/10.

If one of my boys (under 14 team) think, that he is to small to play rugby, I show him videos of Cheslin Kolbe and Faf de Klerk (both playing for South Africa) They prove that size doesn't matter. Faf de Klerk aka the giant slayer 😁

You seem like a nice decent dude doing what you like more than showing people what they want. Real recognize real, basically. Your channel's growing because of that. That being said, it can't be only one best player., overall. But only at the position you play. Like as instance he can't play as a second lock position, he' too small for that. Eben Etzebeth one of his teamates representing his country is one of the best second locks. Every body frame is needed in a team, every different skills can't be stocked in only one man. But you need to be at least aware of every possibilities since you play attack and defense on the fly. One of the reason why USA football can't be popular in countries where rugby is a thing.

Possibly the greatest player. When he plays for The Springboks one of their tactics is to use the maximum force allowed by the rules to wear their opponents down. This means later in the game Kolbe is running against utterly battered defenders. This is also behind the Bomb Squad tactic of avoiding substitutions till the last 20 minutes. Swap on a team of fresh brutes and a few fresh steppers for the last 20 mins to distract and batter without tiring means he gets to toy with the opponent. It's a tactic which hasn't been working quite as well as hoped this season. Although every team is blooding new players at the moment. Look for the recent Canan Moodie intercept for who will step in when he gets injured during the World Cup. All the other teams will be doing this at the moment so look out for Debutantes doing incredible feats.

The "best rugby player" is an impossible call to make, because players in different positions have completely different roles in the game. Kolbe is a winger, which is potentially the flashiest position on the field because of the possibility of spectacular running (as you saw). The forwards have completely different strengths and skills, and to the uninitiated, seldom get to do anything as spectacular as that. But is Kolbe the best winger? Yeah, quite possibly.

Cheslin Kolbe is amazing but check out his team mate Gio Aplon, he's the best stepper in the world.

Lol it is so cringe that they continously have these reaction videos for the "best player" in Rugby it is not about one player. they will tell you this themselves, the smallest man on the field is expected to tackle also .. everyone works on the field and they give it their heart! Rugby unlike NFL is not about the glory of being the best and earning the most it is actually about giving it your all , for the game first and the fans second..it is literally more than a sport for the player and the fans. I do not think Americans would get it, your sports are very capitalistic so it is just different.
