We are specifically commanded not to worship Yahweh as the pagans worship their gods (Deuteronomy 12:29-32). Not to not drink coffee as the pagans do or not have birthday parties for children as the pagans do. Remember Jesus came as a sword to separate us. If that's not happening in our lives, perhaps we should re-evaluate the way in which we walk.

The orgins of Christmas/ Saturnalia has a very interesting history and well worth the research. The origins of the Christmas tree/ Baal worship also has a very interesting history also worth personal research. The Sun/halo painted behind Jesus head also has a very interesting history. Paganism is deeply rooted in today's traditions. Make you wonder why it's even practice by Christians of the past which has passed on to the traditions of today.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭12‬:‭30‬-‭31‬ take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; This verse is your answer. If you can’t worship the Most High the way that you should you won’t be invited to the kingdom. He tells us how to glorify Him and it’s not a day full of shopping, commercialism, self reward, and chasing the world!! None of that says God!!

Yeah it’s clear and direct and it’s not about Christmas trees, it’s about people cutting down trees and making idols/gods out of them. Never seen anybody worship their Christmas tree. And the idea that Christmas trees are pagan is a myth. According to the Encyclopedia of Christmas and New Year’s Celebrations: "The earliest known Christmas tree ornaments were apples. Medieval actors used them to decorate the paradise tree, the central prop of the paradise play, a medieval European mystery play often performed on December 24. The apples represented the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden" (p. 583).

I heard a message on this recently that said, it’s not about what it means to us or how we are trying to celebrate it, it matters what it means to *Him*. God is the one being worshipped and He has always been clear about not wanting other gods leftovers and slapping His name over the top of it (think of when the Israelites tried to convert other gods altars to use as the Lords- just no!). We are so far removed from the originations of a lot of these traditions that we think they’re not a big deal or it doesn’t matter anymore but to the Lord it’s the same as if it were 100 or 1000 years ago and he remembers good and well what they mean. It would be like giving your wife a gift that was for your first wife and saying “no , no sweetie, she means nothing to me! This locket is now for you!” She’s not going to want it and neither does God. I think you, dear brother Mark, are the one who needs to wake up and check your convictions and justifications.

@@user-co2li1vd5dI think there are plenty of people who come in with good intentions and it doesn’t mean that the Lord wants it. I think that this whole “issue” of Christmas is not a salvation issue because of that. If you are a Christian and choose to celebrate, I don’t think the Lord will condemn you or that you are damned, etc. Where the issue comes in is for those Christians who feel convicted in their faith to choose not to, and have reasons for it, they are being told they are legalistic, need to be examined (like Pastor Mark said) or they are just dumb. I think that’s a problem. I think there are a myriad of reasons why Christmas should not be celebrated by Christians but most people don’t want to have a discussion about it and that’s fine. But there’s a reason for the saying “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Good intentions doesn’t get you out of being accountable for what the Holy Spirit convicts you of. And if you don’t feel convicted, then that’s great. Don’t shame others who do.

@@user-wx4iq3fy4c I agree. Ive always celebrated the birth of our Lord with joy, and always had in mind that He was born to die, which made it sweet yet painful. I realized the date was wrong, but I decided that every1 I know is also celebrating in the same way for HIM, not for themselves and it was more powerful collectively as praise to Him. So He knows my heart, and its intentions. And you are right, one person decides which day is holy to them and another person, another day. @@user-co2li1vd5dcompletely agree. The Lord convicts and leads each of us differently (I.e. some to marry and others to stay single, some to pastor, some to a different service) so where people are convicted is a personal journey. Where I disagree with Mark here is his dismissive attitude toward that Christian grandfather who does feel convicted. I also don’t like the dismissive nature towards what others use as their reasonings like it not being his actual birthday. Yes, we can celebrate it any day if you so choose but others aren’t wrong when they say 1) traditionally birthdays aren’t celebrated, 2) the Bible never asks us to celebrate this, 3) Nimrod, aka a sun god, had his birthday celebrated on December 25th and the church wanted to redeem that day, etc. there’s lots of different reasons and rationales and to belittle those is just wrong. However, you and I seem to be in agreement that Christians should be free to express the holiday (or not) in whichever way they choose; I just wish more Christians felt the same.

Let the Word of God declare the truth: 1)Child sacrifice: "Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?" Isa 57:5 2)Worldly customs: "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." Jeremiah 10:2-4 3)God's two witnesses will be slain: "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth." Rev 11:8-10 The three wise men gave gifts to Jesus at his birth, not to each other, his mother, etc....The Scriptures are very clear, and these are only a small sampling of Scriptures pertaining to what the world celebrates.

I just learned the history of where Christmas came from. My husband and I both believe that we should celebrate each other and those we love throughout the year with bearing gifts not just one day a year. We also believe that we should glorify God for his great gift of Jesus Christ throughout the year. I am not going to label Christmas as a pagan holiday and those that worship Christ with remembering his birth on this particular day that they are dishonoring God. Personally this year I just decided not to celebrate Christmas in the traditional sense of buying great amounts of gifts getting a Christmas tree or decorating the house. Mainly due to my own convictions of wanting my life to totally please God and not allow any satanic influences in my home . Wanting to establish this home to be 100% Godly.

But the thing is we don’t celebrate it like the pagans do we worship Him at our homes and churches, which Christians even did in the Bible. But also Jesus was against those who were legalistic about how things were, but at the same time were sinners and held themselves higher than anyone else and Jesus proved they were wrong it. Jesus doesn’t care about the legalism of holidays. We as Christians celebrate Him in our hearts and with loved ones. That is honoring to God. Paul talks about praying without ceasing and to not stop honoring and worshiping God at a specific time or place, but wherever and whenever. The bible also talks about not eating meat that was sacrificed to other Gods, but we don’t and we wouldn’t if we knew it was, but we don’t know if the meat in stores was sacrificed to other God. Jesus said that after He died and rose again that the law is written on our hearts and He knows our hearts even in times of celebration. I consider in everything I do if it is honoring Him or not.

I completely agree. Christmas is pagan. Also if you are celebrating Santa then you are "lying" to your kids. Do not lie it is a part of the ten commandments. Also Jesus wasn't even born in December, why is it that we celebrate it then..its because the sun God Mithras, was born December 25th and they chose Jesus birthday be the same day so they could all celebrate it on one day( look it up). Anyways why would anyone want to support that? If it's about Jesus then celebrate in September and don't celebrate it near this outrageous holiday. It's okay to be around family and share gifts but do not speak of christ and then celebrate these types of things. We have four children and we no longer celebrate holidays since we became born again in Christ. I understand if my family wants to celebrate it but they do not push us too.

To those sincerely and deeply seeking/searching for truth: Pastor Robert Breaker (You Tube) provides a very detailed teaching on Christmas, which is supported by a plethora of historical facts. Some of the content includes the pagan origin of the tree; the lies about St. Nicholas (made up cover for Santa [Satan]); Nimrod (Nimrod's birthday is December 25). Its well done. It is an eye opener. I humbly and graciously recommend listening and....at least considering other possibilities. I am not disagreeing with Pastor Mark Driscoll...but am attempting to bring additional awareness of satanic distortions of Christian holidays. Satan has been twisting and perverting everything that is Godly, in attempt to steer us away from Biblical/God truths. Most Christians have come up in apostate churches. There are more apostate churches than true Biblical churches. It's a challenge facing most of us. Catholicism is loaded with paganism. Mormonism is a distortion of Christianity. And then there are the apostate churches...and groups...Osteen...Hinn....Meyers....etc. Its difficult to be different. Its difficult to refuse to participate in Christmas traditions that we have been faithfullly following for years...but the path is narrow and we are being asked to make important choices. Its up to us to determine what choices feel in alignment with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. One cannot honor God, while simultaneously practicing Paganism and paying hommage to Santa (satan). As we become closer to God and more immersed in the Word, the false beliefs and traditions fall away. May we all peel the scales back from our eyes and open to the truth. God Bless.

You are correct: Sunday is not the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week. Bear in mind that God's instruction to keep the Sabbath was given to Israel and is only mentioned in the Old Testament. However, Jesus -- who said He came to fulfill the Law and bring a new covenenant to all believers (Jews AND Gentiles) -- was resurrected on Sunday, the first day of the week. Additionally, Acts 20 provides evidence the the early Church met on the first day of the week to break bread and remember Christ's death and resurrection, as well as to minister to one another. The New Testament also informs us that early Christians still met in local synagogues sometimes during the week, but it gives no mention of Saturday being a special day to be observed by Christians. Christ came to free us from the Law.

No one celebrating Christmas or birthdays is using it for evil or bad intentions so who cares and why stop celebrating them. It brings families together and joy into people's hearts. Only if people were being maliciousness than i would see a problem with it.

so Mark you’re taking scripture out of context regarding purity. He was only referring to Paul’s ministry of the Gentiles and that all people can be pure. it does not mean we can do or EAT anything we want. Malachi 3:6 God does not change

After reading Jeremiah 10 a couple years ago, I was shocked that it described what seemed to be a Christmas tree. I cannot in good conscience put up a tree now. It just feels wrong. I have many Christian friends that love decorating at Christmas. Getting into the “Christmas Spirit”. I don’t know what to think about that…. Lord, what do you think?

At the end what he says about if it is in your conviction…. My husband and I saw the three 6’s and what appears to be an eye (“eye of the beast”) in the Taco Bell logo. Maybe we are reading too far into it. Maybe we aren’t. We are convicted in NOT ever eating Taco Bell because we cannot unsee that symbolism in their logo. We’ve shared what we see but don’t feel convicted to shame what others don’t. I don’t believe someone eating Taco Bell is evil, but I do believe that if you see something and you feel it is or could be evil, you do not partake. So when people see evil in a holiday and choose not to celebrate, regardless of how silly i think it is, I am pleased that someone is not partaking in something they see as evil.

Jesus Christ was NOT born on December 25th, nor does the Bible mention this. My theory, God doesn't want you to worship THAT DAY, more than HE, Himself. Christmas is NOT EVEN mentioned in the Bible. It was a Day of celebration to Nimrod where they used Pine trees 🌲 and decked them out with silver and gold and gave Gifts. Hear me, and hear me good, for all that reads this.......... THERE'S ONLY 2 WORLDS: the Spiritual and the Physical. Since the beginning of days, after the disobedience of ADAM, the world has been divided. Love GOD or NOT. GODs way, or the way of the world. Many beliefs that we celebrate are.....NOT.... GODs way, plan, or desire Christmas, Easter, etc..... Comics, movies and cartoons are nothing more than a "spinoff" of the Bible, with a different twist. (I could make hours long videos about Marvel Comics (and MCU) being a direct resemblance to the Bible. To walk after GOD may seem "boring" in a sense of: no partying 🎉 no drinking 🍻 no marijuana 🌴🌲 no drugs,no sexual intercourse prior to marriage...a lot of no's... that we've been programmed to accept. But you'll have peace with knowing what your future in the afterlife holds. I pray 🙏 someone reads this and thinks 🤔 I've been living a lie programmed to be accepted as the truth, well no more, regardless of how much it hurts

Regarding birthdays, didn't Job's children gather for a birthday celebration toward the beginning of the book? That was the interpretation of the passage I've been taught. To your point about removing oneself from worldly influences, we are to be light and salt while we exist *in* this world. My pastor would often tell us, don't get wrapped up in worldly things, but don't swing the pendulum so far the other direction that you become so Heavenly-minded you end up being no earthly good!😅

Jeremiah 10 clearly tells us not do the tree. This guy doesn’t know the scripture. Birthdays could be considered pagan. Christmas is shrouded in the blood of the innocent. We don’t worship cars. People worship fertility symbols like wreaths and trees. We are told not to learn the ways of the he’s then. Read the Bible bro

Yes the Bible does give us the info needed to find his birth. Luke 2 gives us almost all we need. Zechariah was of the tribe of Abijah when serving in the Temple. Use that date to time when he slept with Elizabeth. Then take when Mary visited Elizabeth. Count the days and you get late September. Look into it! Look up Chuck Missler on this issue. Jeremiah talks about trees in chapter 10. Look that up too. That being said I agree it's best not to take it too seriously but there are answers to questions.

Jeremiah 10 the Christmas tree is clearly called out. The Christmas tree is a pagan obelisk symbol. It is a symbol of sun God worship.

We have 2 possible months Jesus was born. Either March or September. We know this because Elizabeth who was Mary’s cousin was pregnant 6 months before Mary received notice from God. So if we know when John the Baptist was born then we have a time frame from when Yeshua/Jesus can be born which is 6 months after John the Baptist was born. John the Baptist father served as a priest of Zacharias and served in the course of Abijah for 2 stretches of the year in the 8th division. The Course of Abijah was the eighth division (1 Chronicles 24:1-10), meaning Zacharias served sixteen weeks (8 divisions x 2 weeks per turn) after the beginning of the Jewish year (which was around March), and then he served for another two weeks, six months later (which was around September): Ergo, Elizabeth (John’s mother) conceived sometime either in June or December, and gave birth to John in March or September…and since Mary was conceived with Jesus six months into Elizabeth’s pregnancy, that would mean Mary conceived Jesus in either June or December, and gave birth nine months later…in either March or September.

I had only just found his teachings and sad to see he contradicts the Word so quickly and openly. Lots of lost people hurting people this man and those like him are leading to Hell. The Word says the time is short and there are few of us working in the fields.
