Not universally, no. Franciscans have always treated Christmas with more reverence than Easter. That's not to say that Easter isn't of immense importance, only to say that the Feast of the Incarnation is paramount to all of salvation history.

What do you mean that "it's right"? The prophecy says that Jesus was supposed to be in his ministry for 3 and 1/2 years so he had to die at the age of 33 and a 1/2 not 33. So if he died around March then he must have been born around September. So this guy's math is completely out of whack.

God sent the angels to call nearby shepherds to greet Jesus at his birth and to celebrate and glorify God, and they go about telling everyone the good news and celebrating. I doubt you'll admit you're wrong however, given that you start off by calling me a moron. What happened to being charitable and loving both your neighbor and enemy? Side note, the whole point of this video is that Christmas is not a pagan holiday, and that the pagan holidays that existed likely copied Christmas instead! Did you even watch it? Also, if explicitly not worshipping something is not enough to not be idol worship, what is an idol then? And what is worship?

I said find me a verse of people CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS in the bible with the name Christmas! The apostles didnt, Mary and Joseph didnt, christians didnt! Show me where “Celebrate Christmas” is in the bible. God gave days for other holidays in the bible, SHOW me christmas. Where does God say “celebrate my sons birth on December 25th of every year! Call this day Christmas. Put up trees and adorn them with lights and trinkets. Buy presents for your family and children. Drink egg nog and put up wreaths and carol songs about my son!”

Jesus never said to celebrate his birthday. No man of the true God ever celebrated his birthday in the Bible. It is a pagan custom you can't mix the dark and the light.

Ancient One I love celebrating Christmas. I call it that because that’s what I’m used to. Has nothing at all to do with Jesus, or any religion to me. I’m growing cold on the gift giving, Santa Claus part of it though. That seems to be mostly a marketing strategy.

U Coriglianesi Exactly. There are reasons why people have celebrated certain things/seasons since before recorded history. Guys like this (monk? Priest?) claim Christians were just trying to connect with people by taking over their spiritual traditions. Fast forward a couple millennia, & here we are, people want to give up on those celebrations because they think they “belong” to Christianity. “Can’t have CHRISTmas without CHRIST, & so forth. But people need & deserve to have these occasions to come together & be reminded of how much they mean to each other, & of all the love in the world.

alex x Why should anyone care if it’s forbidden by a mythical god? I don’t believe in the Abrahamic god. That’s your belief. Nothing in the Bible has any meaning or value to me, other than on its own merit. It’s funny as hell though, that Christians are so specifically forbidden directly by god in the Bible to have a Christmas tree. I love the tradition. I make sure we get a real one every year, too. It’s beautiful, & gives off such a beautiful scent that fills the whole house & creates a special atmosphere that fills everyone with good spirits that they carry out into the world with them when they go out.

@@StephanieMT It's the celebration of the First Coming. His birth is the beginning of the miracle of the Logos become flesh. Easter is more important, but Christmas and Advent are incredible.

Jesus did not give us the Authority over him to decide to celebrate his Birthday. Who do we think we are??? He has never given us instructions on how to celebrate his Birthday. But we do it on BAAL'S Birthday. A Satan god..and the day perverted people had orgies....nice.

Yet we still have people adamantly declaring that Christ couldn't have been born in December because "sheep wouldn't be kept out in the cold in winter." Well, Palestine and Israel are on the Mediterranean in a very temperate climate during winter. In December, the average low temperature there today is about 47 degrees, it likely wasn't much different 2000 years ago. That's not cold at all, especially for animals covered in insulating wool like sheep. They're actually designed by God for even harsher climates. There's no reason the shepherds wouldn't have had their flocks out at that time.

BUT the problem many people have with December 25 being Jesus' birthday is that in Luke 2:8-20, It says that shepherds were out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. It was rainy and cold in Bethlehem in that time. I am not sure the shepherds would be outside tending to their flocks. Plus, this was a time when Caesar Agustus sent out a decree, that the world shall be taxed. The roads were rainy and slick, so it would not be an ideal time to conduct a census, and for people to travel to pay their taxes.

@@mylovesongs2429 if they want to discount the church fathers of the 2nd and 3rd centuries, as well as information we have from the Gospels, because it might have been raining..... that's free will I can't get on board with.

@@mylovesongs2429 the attempts to discredit the church by using the Shepherds in the fields and it being too cold argument, no longer hold up. Now that it's 2019, the average person can easily Google the average temperature in Bethlehem in December. High of 56 low of 47. perfect shepherd weather 👍

@@mylovesongs2429 anyone who believes the Bible is true and accurate.... Believes that Zacharias was in the temple on the day of atonement. And that Elizabeth conceived immediately after that week. And that when Elizabeth was six months pregnant Mary conceived Jesus. And so that puts Jesus's birth between December 20th and January 9th. End of story. I mean, anyone is free to disagree with that but.... Disagreeing with that is Claiming that the information in Luke's gospel is wrong.
