This is so helpful. I agree with many of the others below... even if you save $20-$50... you're locked into these attractions. Giving you almost 0 leeway to do other stuff.

My issue with these passes is that they lock you in to a limited number of activities and you have to go to all of them to justify the price. If you buy the 5 attraction pass and then do four and skip the last one because you found more interesting things to do then it would have been better off just paying for the four out of pocket anyway.

GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS!:-) As a NYC Tour Guide and travel Planner, I almost always steer guests away from the City Passes. Even in the cases that it makes sense mathematically, it’s so difficult/tiring/exhausting to get to all those locations within their opening hours. Many people don’t realize that Statue of Liberty alone will most likely take 4 hours, not including commuting time to and from Battery park, and many of the museums on the list have a final entry of around 3:30pm. So it’s a rush to even get to a museum after Statue. (Which also has a final ferry departure at 4 pm from Battery, and then you’ll be immensely rushed visiting the islands.) And of course, if you’re feeling tired, need to change shoes, want to grab a bite to eat, you’ve already locked yourself into those city pass / NY Pass activities and need to rush rush rush. Another thing that used to surprise guests is you’re not actually guaranteed admission to any of the attractions. I used to work on tour boats and a tour bus that were included in the passes, and the boats and bus would max out with people who bought directly through the company, and those with the “passes” would have to wait for the next boat and hope there was space. So in general, I recommend forgoing the passes and potentially looking for other discounts.

You bet! Glad it's helpful. But as someone on here said, the pass doesn't guarantee entry. People still have to reserve an entry to some places like the Natural History Museum. And also time is a factor to consider because if someone were here for only a weekend, they might not hit up all the places they want to see.

I went with NYC Pass again for my next visit. Sadly they've removed the ability to visit any single attraction listed as many times as you want every 24hours. I still prefer the as many places as you want in a set number of days though. In for 10 days access and as most of the items on the list are things I wanted to do anyway. It's fantastic value for what I wanted. Plus another big advantage is that it's all pre paid in advance. So I don't need to be aware of those costs while there. It helps spread the costs for me.

Thank you for the video, it's really informative and helpful. A quick question, if not a citypass, is there a specific website that you would recommend buying tickets in advance? say for observatories and/or museums? or even reservation for restaurants?

Hello Thea and greetings again from Australia - Thank you for your video once again. It's always interesting to hear and see your videos. I hope you've been enjoying the tennis at Flushing. What did you think about our Aussie Nick Kyrgios and his shocking behaviour. As an Aussie myself I'm embarrassed seeing him play and wish tennis would suspend him from the game. Oh welll, a bit off topic I know but I know you're such a big tennis fan. ALL the best, keep them videos coming and I hope to make it to NYC next year.

Haha, I'm sure the rest of the world knows he's not representative of all of Australia. I can't deny he's an excellent tennis player. Just needs to pick up meditation or some other form of anger management.

It's also worth it if you travel to other European countries too. It's like someone package an itinerary for you. It'd also be cheaper to get all those tickets than buying each of them individually.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll add it to the list 😁. In my experience, those buses are pretty good for getting around, but not really good for getting a guided tour. But the last time I rode one was a handful of years ago.

The American museum of natural history is actually pay what you want so you can technically get in for a penny if you live in NY, NJ and maybe CT too? It’s on their website but if you live in the donation states DO NOT use the pass you’re just wasting money! There is plenty of other stuff on the list though!

Sorry! Still can't get over the fact, that it cost $57 to goto the top of the Empire State Building. It's just an observation deck right?
@UrbanCaffeine
@UrbanCaffeine Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. But it's very iconic so a lot of people want to go. All observation decks in NY are over $40. A long time ago, I got a Groupon for One World for $20. Not a lot of deals have been available lately.
